Wagamama comes definitely as a surprise. Although for what you would expect as a "chain" restaurant the quality of the food is up-scale. I had amazing gyozas as starters followed by a well-seasoned pad-thai. Staff was friendly and although I find it quite pricey portions were big: there was no room for dessert!
Great service, seated quickly during a busy Saturday evening. Waitress checked on us regularly and food came out hot and within a reasonable time. Full marks for food quality as well as service. Highly recommended!
We ordered steamed chicken gyoza and kimchi salad over our green tea as starters. Chicken katsu curry and chicken and prawn yaki soba for mains, and the chocolate fudge cake for dessert. Besides the fudge cake, everything was a stand-out in terms of presentation, flavours, taste and portion size. The dumplings were moist, flavoursome and appetizing. The katsu curry wasn't too hot to handle, with long chunks of crispy chicken and the sticky rice was a perfect compliment to the dish. My friend loved her yaki soba, soft noodles with crunchy prawns and vegetables. Wagamama managed to fill me up right upto my brim with their awesome food. So, anyone complaining their portion sizes are small makes me really wonder about their order?! I was one happy customer. Again, a go to place for me.
I really enjoyed my visit here. For starters we ordered mushroom onigiri and yasai steamed gyoza - both the dishes were delicious but I found them slightly over-priced considering the quantity served!
Next we ordered yasai ramen - this was absolutely delicious - the broth was so so good!!! The Japanese omelette, veggies, the noodles themselves - just wow! We had also ordered yasai cha han donburi- brown rice with lots of vegetables. This was also nice but the star was definitely that ramen dish.
Will visit again for sure but only for that ramen dish.
The food was really good but there's only one particular that was most favourable by me which was the fire cracker, also the firecracker was really spicy if you're into it

Been to Wagamama way too many times. The food is a soul food for me. The service is good and staff friendly. I tried their app too in restaurant and its pretty tech savvy!
The decor is different and authentic while being modern too. Prices are reasonable. Food was good but portions weren't great. Service was very good.
Yum! the broth, sauces, texture, flavor... not too spicy and not too sweet - just right. go for a Saturday noon meal. You'll love it. Especially the community dining experience. Very vibrant and alive.
Great staff. I enjoy the food, but the presentation of some dishes need to be revamped. Its very hip, I wouldn't say they cater to those with back issues! Picnic style eating, topped with a pricey menu.
Exceeding expectations. What wonderful service! We had dinner here last night and I have a large number of food problems, but our waitress was wonderful, she sat down with us, helped me to understand the allergies menu and went out of her way to ensure we had a great meal. I didnt get her name but what a wonderful asset to your company! Thank you mystery lady.
Freshly cooked authentic Japanese food served in a school canteen environment. Slightly expensive but you are paying a premium for the freshly cooked ingredients and fast friendly service. Overall an enjoyable experience for a weekday lunch.
Was cool how you're all sat together like in a school canteen. Very clever. Food was great! Tasted brilliant and filled me and my friend up a treat. Well priced for the level of service and food on offer. Would recommend to anyone new to Birmingham's Chinese cuisine. 8 out of 10!
Very Nice. My girlfriend brought me here as a treat and is one of my favorite resturants in birmingham, food is fresh and usually served quick.
Nice food and excellent service but you do feel a bit like your eating school dinners on the wooden benches with paper place mats THAT THE STAGF WRITE ON! Again... Nice food though!
The people who work here are very polite and friendly. The food is delicious, is served in big portions & isn't too expensive. If you want you can get free green tea too! That's if you don't want to pay £3 for a soft drink (I suggest you bring your own drinks). Overall it's very nice especially if you're into Chinese / Japanese styled foods
Good location, though in my experience can be too busy at peak times. Though a late lunch or evening meal offers a pleasant experience.
The food is a quite toned down, westernised version of classic dishes but still good. The seafood is frozen as with most chains though when I have visited it has been cooked very well, avoiding rubbery disaster. This is due to the fact that most dishes are made up fresh not merely reheated, despite this food at non peak is served promptly, though it is brought to you dish by dish when ready instead of whole courses at once, for a lone diner or couple this is fine though if in a large group one could find themselves waiting for their dish whilst those around them may have been served already.
The portion sizes are good with the option to takeaway what you cannot finish if you happen to order too much.
The service can be mixed on my most recent visit I was very pleased with my waitress, attentive but not overbearing. She worked hard to please and added to the experience.
The prices are reasonable for the food you get. Not expensive, not cheap but a good quality chain restaurant.
As ever, wagamama delivers on food, location and price.
I always get 27!! Saki soba - you can eat it with a ladle.
Clean satisfaction instead of full stodginess!
FYI - this location often has a line, but it does move quickly!!
It is located down the slope on the backside of Bull ring! The restaurant is well lit and has a lovely ambience.
I have tried Yasai Chilli men, Yasai Katsu Curry and the Miso Soup and loved it. Since, I am vegetarian I have limited options. I love the fact that they serve the dish a complimentary cup of hot Green Tea!!!
It's because of this place I feel in love with Japense food!!!
Great meal as always, it was a very busy day but the wait was only around 10 mins. Service was a little slow but understandable with how busy it was. My friend had an allergy so management had to take the order.. goof to see how on top of it they are with allergies however it did mean service again was slower for her meal. Starters came our very late after our meal and mushrooms were cold. It was quickly rectified with a new batch which tasted much better. Prawns were great. Service from staff was great friendly and approachable.
On a week evening it’s not too busy so you would get seated almost immediately. They are very big on allergies (which I really appreciate) and they were meticulous when taking our orders. There was a good selection of vegan/vegetarian options. In particular, I tried the vegan ribs and it was full of flavour and didn’t have that meat substitute aftertaste. The food portion sizes were huge and good value for money but sadly the drinks weren’t in my opinion. Very tasty but not worth the price. I would also say that there’s an attempt to mix different traditional dishes together and I don’t know if it works. I had the katsu ramen and i couldn’t help feeling like it would’ve been much better if they had served it with rice. Overall, I would visit again and try the corn dogs next time.
I had a great experience at Wagamama, a Japanese restaurant, when I visited with my girlfriend, her parents, and two friends. The food was exceptional - I ordered the pad Thai with chicken and prawns, and everyone else had dishes like grilled salmon, duck, ramen, and chicken katsu. We also tried six fresh fruit juices which were delicious. I'd rate the food a perfect 5 out of 5 stars.
However, I have to deduct a star for service. While most of the staff were friendly and attentive, one of the bartenders was a bit rude to us, which left a slightly sour note. Overall, we had a fantastic meal, and we're definitely planning to come back in the future.
Absolutely delicious food, service was a little slow when it came to getting our drinks but it was busy on a Sunday lunchtime in the centre of Birmingham so that's to be expected
Always love the food at Wagamama and this one wasn’t an exception. Pork belly ramen and pad Thai were both cooked to perfection 👌🏼
Can’t ever go wrong with a wagamamas. Firecracker is my fave, do hope for more vegetarian soupy noodle dishes. Staff were very attentive and caring with my friend who has an allergy. 10/10❤️
Always go here when we go into Birmingham City Centre LOVE the food it's all good so do struggle to decide, staff are always friendly and welcoming. The 1 negative is been on the benches sitting next to other people can get close and when you have a big coat there isn't anywhere to put it other than on your lap which gets annoying when enjoying the relaxed atmosphere but other than love it here! And it's consistent been to a few locations and quality is always the same
Nice food, but not the best Ramen in town. Service was good, but the restaurant is a little on the noisy side due to its acoustics. I enjoyed the food and reasonably priced, but as with a lot of restaurants offering a type of food from another country or culture the food has been changed to better fit local tastes (IMHO having dined at many Ramen, Soba and Udon restaurants in Japan), but definitely worth visiting if you like the food and relaxed atmosphere. We have been before and I would go again, but probably not for Ramen.
Great food every time and great presentation! 10/10
Easy to pay by mobile and QR code. Casual environment. Pakchi(smelling vegetable) is normally in the soup and ramen.
First time here and we totally enjoy with my wife! It was really nice than if you don't eat meat they have plenty of choices (veggie) soo tasty, it's very quiet place as well. the waiters was very friendly with their customers and the food came quickly, very generous portion. Everything was perfect we will come back here without hesitation 👊🏽🔥
I absolutely loved it here. Only knowing Wagamama by reputation as we don't have one in my neck of the woods, but travelling for work, I came across the place and so glad I did.
On a gluten free diet, I was very well looked after and assured of the greatest care taken over the preparation of my meal.
The good was delicious, and the ambience was vibrant.
Thank you.

Delicious food, courteous staff, reasonable prices and good ambience. Was in the waiting queue for 10 mins and the staff came and explained on the menu, waiting time, even offered an umbrella for the light rain. Will definitely return with friends and family.
Tip: Only thing to remember is the food comes whenever it is ready, so don't order everything in one go as main course will get cold by the time you finish your starters. Order the starters first and then main course.
Hi there,
Awesome service, the best in Birmingham. Mine and my beautiful wife's favourite restaurant in Birmingham.
They treat us like a King and queen. Truly world class service. They are always a warm and friendly bunch. Great manager, Jack and wonderful staff.
Me and my beautiful wife always get excited whenever we walk in. We go there 2-5 times a month.
The food is so good. It really is top notch. Japanese food at its finest. Donburi, Banana katsu, tropical drink are definitely the best of the bunch.
Hugely recommended for any occasion, from a casual day out to a romantic meal to a birthday celebration.
Keep up the good work guys and as you now see you again soon. In two weeks.
Sincerely,
Kofi(Muhammad) and Aisha
Had a great lunch there today and were really looked after by Jade - our server for the day. Wagamamas always - very clean contemporary atmosphere, always fresh cooked food, fair value when everyone`s much poorer than last year (Go Rishi go!!), and ordered way too much - but it was worth loosening a notch on the belt. Will visit again soon (not least to share some choccy` cake with JADE... well you did promise!)
I recently had the pleasure of dining at wagamama and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm and friendly smiles by the staff, instantly creating a welcoming atmosphere. The interior design of the restaurant was modern and trendy, with a touch of authenticity that added to the overall dining experience. The open kitchen concept allowed me to witness the skill and passion of the chefs as they prepared the diverse range of dishes on the menu. Speaking of the menu, it was a true delight. wagamama offers a wide selection of Japanese-inspired dishes, from flavorful ramen bowls to crispy and fresh sushi rolls. I was particularly delighted with their vegetarian and vegan options, which were just as delicious and satisfying as any meat-based dish. The quality of the food exceeded my expectations. Each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with vibrant flavors. The portions were generous, ensuring that I left the restaurant feeling completely satisfied. The ingredients were fresh and of high quality, which truly elevated the dining experience. Furthermore, the service at wagamama was impeccable. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and happy to provide suggestions or answer any questions I had. Despite the restaurant being busy, the servers remained efficient and accommodating, making sure that each guest received the high level of service they deserved. Overall, my experience at wagamama was exceptional. The combination of friendly and welcoming staff, stunning interior design, delicious and diverse menu options, and impeccable service made for an unforgettable dining experience. I would highly recommend wagamama to anyone looking to enjoy a satisfying meal in a vibrant and energetic environment.
