Autumn has definitely arrived in Birmingham. And whilst I love a scarf and a pumpkin spice latte as much as the next basic bitch, one thing I really can’t get on board with is the lack of daylight. Dragging myself out of bed has become an impossible task; one that requires more willpower than I happen to possess and a fancy sunrise simulating alarm clock. It’s dark, it’s cold, it’s miserable, it’s shit, and I’ve used up all my holiday at work.
I used to work in an office at Five Ways. Back then it was a depressing place to be; the trashy Broad St in one direction, Edgbaston’s elitist housing to the other. Lunch time was equally lack lustre. You would, if you were lucky, get to see a riddled prostitute on the way to picking up a jacket potato from a man in a van who wished he’d stayed on at school. Or even worse, a Boots sandwich meal deal. But that was then, and Birmingham is a changed place after those many years, with few areas more transformed than this meeting point of Edgbaston and the city centre. Many of the office blocks still remain but the area has become a culinary corner with Rofuto peering down over The Highfield, Simpsons and Blue Piano. Its become one of my favourite places in the city to be.
This is a nice, cozy and romantic space, perfect for couples or small groups that would like to share small dishes. There are some dishes that you must order in advance, like the suckling pig, that can be shared between larger groups.
The tapas were great and everybody at our table loved the food. I specially recommend the garlic prunes, the manchego cheese, the patatas bravas and the seafood paella.
Also, they have special offers that change every day, like Thursdays they have a plate of paella for two people and 2 glasses of wine for £18.
ever wanted a place which feels like su casa? coming here for lunch or dinner makes you feel like your back in Spain visiting an old friend for a Friday night catchup. The authencity of the food and ambiance was second to none. The food was nothing but spectacular and freshly prepared! The service was fantastic and helfpul along with the food, achieved a level of Spanish authenticity.
Great food, good service and polite staff. The food was delicous, I wanted to try everything. The service was snappy and responsive. Would recommend.
Great value (independent Birmingham card) for a wide range of tapas dishes with excellent service. Best churros ever.
Visited for a Painting and Sangria night with a group of colleagues and we had an excellent night! The Sangria was fab (they offer a non alcoholic strawberry cocktail as an alternative), tapas absolutely delicious (and in very generous portions) and the painting class was super fun and you get to take the painting you do home with you after. Such a great idea for an evening out that was different but made for a great night!
We will definitely be returning for dinner and possibly another Painting class. Would make a great hen party idea or birthday party.
Good food nice atmosphere bit heavy on the price with some of the dish's
Speedy service and friendly! Very warm and fantastic atmosphere, would definitely go back again
The concept is amazing. The staff were extremely welcoming (seated my partner and I after they were meant to have finished lunch service, and did not apply any pressure or urgency, and allowed us to enjoy our meal). The selection of tapas is impressive and is cooked to a good standard. Nice food, coupled with a good drinks selection is a recipe of success. I'm not sure what evening service would be like, but I'll certainly be back for more.
Great experience. Exceeded our expectations for both food and service. We were a party of four, multiple choices for sharing including wonderful tapas, the paellas are fantastic. Good wine selection by bottle and by the glass.
Absolutely fantastic!! Went as a party of four on a Bank Holiday Monday evening. Every member of staff we dealt with was incredibly friendly and helpful. Went for the special deal on the tapas menu together with some bread. Every single dish was fresh and tasted incredible. Not one morsel was left. Even managed desserts - again they were beautifully presented and tasted delicious. Bill didn't break the bank. Despite being a Monday evening and relatively ealry., There were plenty of other people in so a good atmosphere and yet service was still excellent. Can't wait to return !!!
