An excellent, convenient spot for some great baltis. You can mix and match or create your own, and if you're feeling extra adventurous, get it "desi style". We ordered the lamb rogan josh, chicken tikka masala, and saag pander. All three dishes were excellent and provided varied tastes. Their mango lassi is incredible and nicely balances out the spice without being too heavy.

This place is superb. I came here a few weeks ago with some friends as after visiting the pub a few doors down, we were all starving! It was really quiet when we went in, however, the staff were charming and showed us to a table. They do not serve alcohol, however there is an off license a short walk away and so, we sent the lads out for some wine, whilst we looked at the menu. I found the menu a little overwhelming as it was so big and I felt spoilt for choice. I settled on a veggie dish (I cannot for the life of me remember the name), which included potato, spinach, chillies, tomatoes and rice. They served it in huge sizzling dishes and it was absolutely delicious! It tasted well cooked and was just right. After our meal, we finished our drinks and they gave us some sweets with the bill, which was a cute touch. The atmosphere was relaxing and although it was not busy, I did not feel uncomfortable. Overall, I think this is a wonderful place, I only wish that more people would go as every time I walk past it seems quite empty! It is definitely worth a visit.

A Lovely place with friendly staff & very good service. Starter was very tasty - kashmiri fish (cod) which forgot to take photo off., definitely recommend. The food didn’t disappoint, as even took an extra old traditional keema naan to take home 👌🏻for next day. Good portions sizes which we could not finish so you won’t go home hungry! Don’t serve alcohol so able to bring your own! No on site parking but easily parked near by on side road.

IF I COULD LEAVE 10 stars I would .this place is a hidden Gem. From the decorative styling, the ambiance, the hospitality, and most all the food, being not only authentic, but completely freshly made, I really had a fantastic evening with my brothers , the atmosphere was very vibrant and cosy. The service was impeccable, really want to say thank you guys. We shall be returning.

Wonderful experience at the Royal Watan yesterday evening. The food is so good, of great quality, well prepared, served with care. Portions are generous and the price is fair. And the kindness of the owners and all the staff, unforgettable❣️ I liked the decoration and the seating is very comfortable. Just wished I lived closeby to come more often but next time I come to Birmingham, I will visit them again and very looking forward to it. Thank you for this lovely evening. 💗

So surprised at their amazing service. The food is amazing, it’s served so nicely and they gave us so much complementarily for us to break our fast with during Ramadan: nicely bottled zamzam water, dates with dry fruit and a plate of fruits. Food is definitely worth the price, everything was so so good from the mocktails to the specialities (their baltiz + naan combos are amazing). The kashmiri pizza was also very very good. Thank you!

It gets busy here so may be worth booking ahead. Absolutely stunning food, reasonable prices and good portion sizes. I would definitely recommend the special lassawala dish, the meat was so tender it just fell apart. Every single item we ordered was brilliant and had an individual taste. The mixed grill was huge and really well cooked. The service was good, and the owner was really friendly taking the time to talk to us. I would definitely recommend and return to eat here when I'm next in Birmingham.

Had a great meal here, food was delicious, service was good, the naan bread was really tasty and loved the novelty of it being one giant naan for all 5 of us to share! The cost was also really reasonable considering 5 of us ate here, less than £100 for the total bill. Would definitely go again!

Tried this place for the first time in August 2023. Food, service, hygiene is all very good. The dishes are a bit small but taste very nice. Tried chicken Karahi, lamb Karahi and dhaal. Good service. Suitable for families and children. Great service and hospitality from Imran.

I can never fault The Royal Watan and I consider it one of my local restaurants I frequently visit. I have a peanut allergy which can make eating out difficult but the staff at The Royal Watan are always so considerate and accommodating. I recently celebrated my birthday with a meal here and they were also accommodating to my disabled mum, with high quality disabled toilets. The food is always fantastic for a great price and the atmosphere is great. It is one of my partner’s favourite restaurants and you will clearly see why when you visit here.

Had my brothers birthday meal here. The food, atmosphere and service was just 10/10. A big thanks to the manager and waiters, their hospitality was amazing, felt extremely comfortable and welcome. We ordered the mix grills- the meat was fresh and very nicely spiced. We also ordered the lamb tava and chicken karahi which was very tasty. Also a must try is the lassi ka saag which is new on the menu. The food matched that of authentic homemade south asian dishes! After a long while I have been to a restaurant and throughly enjoyed a meal. It’s a must go for anyone in Birmingham!!!

It speaks for itself when restaurant is almost full on sunday evening . We had very delightful experience today. Very welcoming ,helpful and always smiling staff . We ordered lasswala lamb and chicken chooza . Chicken Tikka Naan, cheese Naan and Ferrero shake . Portin size qas enough for two, esecially medium chicken tikka naan was much bigger than I exected. They took extra care spices were adjusted according our taste (i ike steonger spices) .All food items were fresh and tasteful, although Chicken chooza could have been a bit better but I don't blame the chef as we asked this dish specifically less spicy for our kid. Ambience also is very nice with beautiful lighting decors. Overall very nice experience. P.S.- you have to par on side streets.

I've been going for 30 years, on and off. I've never had a bad meal or poor service there. It's a family-run business with a customer-first ethos. A Birmingham institution. Treat yourself if you've never been before.

Top marks 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Bring your own alcohol 🍷🍷 Fabulous place with really warm service. We didn't know the area and booked on the way to Birmingham based on Google reviews and have to say it didn't disappoint. Food is delicious, naan bread is massive. Bring your own alcohol is a great touch too. Menu is a bit hard to read in places (red on black)

My wife and I went to Royal Watan yesterday for my 39th birthday after we Googled a few places. When it comes to South East Asian food we look for a place with good reviews from the South East Asian population as a way to measure, this had it. We were not disappointed. The customer service was excellent, the atmosphere was calm even though it was busy for a Tuesday and the food turnaround time was expected for authentic curries. The food was on point and the flavours were rich and authentic, close to home cooked dishes. The time taken was about right for such quality dishes, as we know from experience of cooking curries the longer you cook spices the better the aroma and flavours. We ordered (see photos) Onion Bhaji for starters, Balti Fish Karahi and Lassawalla Gost for mains, Tardka Dal for side (I always get this in each South East Asian restaurant to test their cooking as you have to be able to cook this well if you claim to be good). We got the medium garlic naan and that was plenty for 2 people. We had to order 2 rice as the portion was a little small for 2 people to share. I've already mentioned it to the owner Imran. I decided to compliment the chef and speak to Imran in person to thank him, it seemed we had a lot more to talk about than the food . He came across as a genuine person who really cares about his customers experience and the food they provide. That really made us feel more appreciative of going there. To top it off, when he found out it was my birthday we received a complimentary dessert (see photo) that wasn't a part of the menu yet. The dessert menu is being developed but I'll tell you, it was pretty amazing compared to a lot of the dessert places that are available on the main Asian roads who are supposed to be dessert experts. All in all a very good, authentic restaurant when it comes to food quality, price and service. Plus they offer a free privilege card with 15% off, so really worth grabbing if you're eating Indian/Kashmiri/Pakistani cuisine regularly. The place doesn't serve alcohol but you can bring in your own. Soft drinks are available and so you're not allowed to bring in which is fair enough. Car parking isn't available at the place as its on Pershore Road but there's free parking on the side roads before and after if you can find a spot.

Best curry house in Birmingham. Nice food, nice atmosphere and very welcoming staff. Went with family having tried most of the curry houses in Birmingham, and this is definitely the best.
