Lovely meal here. Don't be fooled by the location, fantastic food and service within! Particular star dishes were the starters of lamb cannelloni and large prawns with garlic mayo, pork meatballs for main and then lemon posset desert. On weds when we went it was BYOB too so take your own if youre going on a wednesday. Defo coming back!

It was a lovely experience to feel authentic Spanish foods. But I hope they can launch lunch specialised menus as well.

We ate splendidly at Don Diego’s last night, with every single dish being extremely flavoursome. The house wines were good and the service was great. We were a bit put off by there only being three tables of guests on a Thursday night but alphonso and Edoardo said that they struggle to cook more than that number of covers. I’m sure this is because each dish is an impressive amount of work and is prepared fresh. Some of the food was exceptional. A huge shout out for the lamb cannelloni, the crab starter, the lamb meatballs, the tagines and the Semifredo. All 7 of us left very very well fed. The setting (in a sad looking parade of shops in Edgebaston) belies the quality of what you will experience. This is a gem. Hugely recommended.

Very friendly service... I was even greeted by the host by my first name (who remembered it from my booking!) Very intimate with only about 20 covers. Limited menu (always a good sign) but exciting and original choices. This was "slow food" which we enjoy... plenty of time between courses to chat and appreciate the atmosphere. All the food was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. It was a little pricey, but hey, what else are you spending it on these days?! We would definitely recommend.

Lovely evening spent in the restaurant. Really nice to be in an independent, family run restaurant. Well looked after. We did BYOB Wed. The baby squid was delicious, good portion. Tasty prawns in lobster bisque too. Pork meatballs very good. Great desserts.

Fantastic experience in such an unassuming location. Really personal service from when we arrived (without ever being overbearing), and astonishing food in terms of both quality and quantity. If you think Spanish cuisine is all about tapas, come here for an education. Outstanding.

Wow! I am so glad this restaurant is on my doorstep, what an incredible place run by two brothers; one exceptional chef and one exceptional front of house. We came here for a wedding anniversary meal and from start to finish it felt like a 5* experience. Get the ox cheek - it's ridiculously good! Can't wait to work my through the menu on subsequent visits 😋

Absolutely fantastic little family-run place. We came for my birthday meal out, I had black pudding stuffed peppers and a beef casserole, my partner had fishcakes and a cod dish. The food tasted amazing, the staff couldn't have been friendlier and they even allowed us to have a more pricey dessert and included it in the set menu price! More people need to know about this place; you won't get better food and friendlier service for this price! Would definitely return.

The food is honest, full of flavour, warm and rustic. Two brothers run the place and the service is welcoming and personal. It certainly makes a change from the normal fare on offer locally. You can take your own vino on Wednesday’s!

Our first visit and we were so impressed. The whole place was so authentic. The food was first class and the wine was excellent. The guy who served us was so kind and generous. This will definitely be a new favourite place for us.

Came here because I'd saw photos of the Octopus on the menu and hadn't seen it anywhere else before. All i can say about this place is it's an absolute gem. If you haven't heard about it before, you need to go! The food is incredible and in my opinion borderline Michelin star. For the price, i couldn't believe the quality of food i received. The 2 brothers that run this place are very passionate and it really shows. Such an incredible place and such wonderful people. Will be recommending to everyone i know!

Unassuming little place, tucked away in Edgebaston. Service is exactly how it should be, attentive without being intrusive, food is of a high standard and quality, the prices are extremely reasonable. We left feeling full, happy, relaxed and both agree it was pretty perfect in every way. The restaurant is run by brothers, Eddie & Alphonso, we had the pleasure of Eddie who is front of house and we immensely enjoyed Alphonsos food, great team & work together so well, the place has a very personal touch, which is lovely and rare these days. We can't wait to go again & highly recommend. Pre order your food & book online.

We were in the area visiting family, wanting a really good, reasonably priced place to have dinner, and found Don Diego! Although they couldn’t accommodate us at first, Eduardo & Alfonso did their best (Thank goodness!) to give us a table at 20:30. We didn’t know what to order as everything looked so good! and although our party was of three we ordered four mains and three starters. Every single dish was delicious: the wild mushroom cooked to perfection, the sauce with the prawns worthy for a whole baguette (to dip), the artichokes... We then had octopus, monkfish, pulled pork and lamb, the lamb and the gravy...truly succulent! Eduardo recommended Marques de Cáceres Gran Reserva to water down the feast. The service was fantastic! Really special night out, worth repeating time and again till exhausting that menu! Thanks guys!!

We visited Don Diego for dinner. The restaurant was empty and lacked atmosphere. It felt like we had had dinner in a living room. Service was friendly and the food was nice and unsophisticated. There is not much option to choose from and I believe this restaurant is expensive for what it offers. Overall it was a pleasant experience but I wouldn't return.

As an Spanish person living in UK, when a friend told me about Don Diego I was very excited to try it out. I have to say I was blown away! The food is so traditional and fresh and real Spanish that I felt like home. Everything from the olives (a must have from the menu) to the starters or the unbelievably good octopus are 10/10, and the home made Santiago tarte was the best I've ever had including Spain!! If looking an authentic Spanish restaurant or somewhere to impress your loved ones, definitely Don Diego is the place!!
