The midlands is fast becoming a hotbed of Michelin star restaurants. One of the newest additions to the collection is Adam’s Restaurant based in the heart of Birmingham – just around the corner from another starred favourite of ours, Purnell’s by chef Glynn Purnell. We dined at Adam’s for my birthday back in December and still the memories of that great meal are still very much alive. The website images show a smart, chic dining room with food to match the level of prestige. Reservations were easy to secure online for a midweek lunch with a full choice of menu’s available. The only problem…and it is a nice problem….is that the Frankfurt German Christmas Market is on throughout December in Birmingham city centre so travelling from the Bullring to Adam’s on Waterloo street means you have to run the gauntlet of tasty food and premium beer – it’s a tough life doing this sometimes. We managed to resist temptation long enough to get to Adam’s without filling up on currywurst. Straight away your coats are taken and if you wish to take a pre-meal aperitif there’s a swish brand new bar area to relax at – the result of Adam’s opening at this site in January 2016 making it one of the city’s newest restaurants.
West Midlands finest restaurant. Its a real occasion eating here. The atmophere, the comfort, the food, the wine and the service all add up to a superb experience.
We found the restaurant to have a lovely comfortable and classy interior. The food was wonderful with superb ingredients and perfectly cooked. Wanted to slow the visit down but it flew by. Service was friendly and helpful throughout. For this quality we thought it was good value. Adjacent second recent visit showed the ongoing consistency of this wonderful restaurant
Very well appointed restaurant with excellent formal but friendly service. Food is creative, beautiful with interesting combinations of flavours that deliver a taste sensation. Ingredients superbly soured. Chose from the al la carte or go for the tasting menu. Wine list to die for focusing on just like the food only the best. Here Birmingham had a truly world class fine dining establishment.
Very accomplished cooking delivering beautifully presented creative and exciting combinations of flavours. Maintains this standard every visit. Particular note is the way that the integrity each of the well sourced ingredients are allowed to shine yet the sum of each dish adds up to more than its components. Service too is excellent and the restaurant itself is classy and comfortable. Wine flight with tasting menu is extremely well selected. Wine list itself like the food exudes quality.
Simply wonderful. Outstanding food. Stunning wine list. Excellent friendly but professional service. Comfortable classy surroundings. Lovely central location.
Given that Claire whisked me away to Ynyshir for my birthday, it was always going to be a struggle to get close to her efforts for her birthday. My idea was a simple one; to saturate her with saturates, to become the quintessential feeder and ply her with good food over a sustained period of time. We end up doing eight meals in eight days, lots of daytime boozing and as many late afternoon naps. Central to this was a meal in the multi award winning Adams, which also has the added bonus of being the only decent restaurant in the city in which I have not been on a date to with a girl. I’ve been several times before with mates, on those long boozy lunches that end with hazy memories and self loathing.
World class experience. Highly creative food. Choice of a la Carte or tasting menus. Service seamless and attentive. Superb wine list only the good years. Lovely interior, modern but comfortable and classy. For this standard represents good value.
Lovely classy comfortable fine dining in city center. Inventive flavoursome food stunning wine list. Friendly and well organised service. Great value compared to the best in London.
Fabulous restaurant. Very creative food. Tasting menu or a la carte. Amazing flavours. Service very good and offers a very fine wine list too.
Inventive wonderfully creative flavoursome food coupled with a great wine list including fine wines by the glass. Careing service and classy interior add up to a truly great experience. One of the UKs best.
Comfortable and classy restaurant. Service nice balance of formal, approachable and friendly. Food is a real journey of well constructed dishes full of complimentary flavors and textures. Some new experiences. Excellent wine and beverage list.
Nice central location with comfortable and stylish interior Creative and precise cooking. Superb flavours textures and general compositions. Choice of al a carte or tasting menu. Excellent wine list. Faultless service. Overall very good value. 45/50
In many ways this restaurant has it all. Location is central but accessible by car. Interior is well furnished. Food is creative very well constructed and beautiful to behold. Service too is top notch . There is a superb wine list with many good value bottles as well as some exceptional wines by the glass. Has to be Birmingham's best fine dining experience. Kitchen visit a must its fantastic.
.
Wonderful experience. Not just a good restaurant but a great one. Food, service and ambience all come together. Worthy of two Michelin Stars.
Outstanding food and service. Stands up against the best in London and Paris. Birmingham is coming alive and now has a number of top class eating venues. This one shines out as its best. Michelin star, Andy Hayler recent 17/20, Trip Advisor rating no.9 in the World all agree.
Tried all of the West Midlands fine dining restaurants and this comes up as our favourite. Its a full house. Outstanding creative food, excellent service, lovely classy comfortable restaurant. Eat in the main dining area or the PDR or at the chefs table. A-la carte or tasting menus. Fine wine list with expert advice.
Went to Adams restaurant on a Saturday evening, great atmosphere, outstanding service, but it was the food that blew me away! Highly recommend a night at this superb place- definitely one for special occasions.
Took the sales team to Adams and the chefs table, Was the perfect evening as a reward for the guys everyone really enjoyed it. Food was exciting and service outstanding. Great atmosphere and we moved around on the table so everyone could have some time talking to other members of the group.
Wow what an unforgettable experience from start to finish. I went with work on a management night out on the chefs table and spent the whole night talking about the food rather any business. Every course was packed full of so many flavours and presented in a beautiful but modern way. We also had the wine flight with each course which complimented the food perfectly. We finished the night with the port and cheese board which just made for a perfect end to the night.I will be returning with family and friends.
Chef's table experience was amazing. Witness the creation of 11 outstanding dishes of beautiful food before your very eyes. Chef Adam explains each dish while Lionel the sommelier pours the accompanying wine flight. Quiet expensive but well worth it.
Having visited a couple of times, I can honestly say that this is the best fine dinning restaurant that I have been to. We had the 8 course tasting menu. Loved every dish. The service was as usual excellent. I would highly recommend the wine flight too.
Where does one start? Overall the experience was superb. I had a 3 course business lunch which from start to finish was exquisite. The food, drink, staff, service, restaurant.... were faultless. Can't wait to revisit
What can I say!! AMAZING, the service was impeccable, extremely attentive, And the food was incredible... especially scallops to start absolutely delicious. The restaurant was busy but the ambience was perfect. Loved every minute and every dish! Cannot wait for our next visit. Superb!*
Fantastic food creative inventive and very tasty, Wonderful gestures and marriages of flavours. loved the lamb with Miso and the Sweetbreads and the whole lot. Service was wonderful too all delivered by genuine and lovely staff who know their profession but also are kind and friendly. Ambience was amazing not only was the restraint full but everyone was enjoying themselves. I really can`t see anywhere in the West Midlands topping this restaurant for sheer quality
Went as a group. Fantastic food particular highlights was the Venison. Also had the best chocolate desert of my life. Service was outstanding, supportive and very knowledgeable about the food and wine. The restaurant is sophisticated and quite lovely. It was full and there was an atmosphere of high expectation as each course arrived. Later we all visited the kitchen which was breath-taking. Highly recommend the Adam`s experience.
Night out with the girls from the office. Can`t say enough about the excellent welcome and wonderful service.Particular thanks to PJ for his charming service and to all the fantastic staff. Great to visit the immaculate kitchen where the sublime food came from. Loved every course and the accompany wine recommended by the lovely sommelier was fantastic. Wonderful atmosphere in this comfortable stylish restaurant.
Beautiful evening at Adams Restaurant with my colleagues from work. Fantastic food and wine, attentive staff, what more could a girl want, perhaps a revisit at some point.
Had a night out with my colleagues from work at Adams Restaurant. It was a fabulous evening with amazing food and service. I would recommend it to anyone who wants an exceptional dining experience.
Business lunch with 3 colleagues turned out to be an overwhelming success's. Atmosphere was perfect very comfortable and every seat was taken giving the feel that we were in the right place. That was before we experienced the excellent service and the wonderful highly creative food. Wine list and sommelier help was also superb. Not an unreasonable bill either given the quality of the restaurant and experience. Will be returning for dinner with friends at the first opportunity.
Recently visited Adams in Birmingham, a Michelin starred restaurant and the food is simply divine. High recommended for a special night out.
What an experience!! We visited on a Wednesday lunch time, the restaurant was busy but we couldn't find fault with either the food or the service. I can't wait to have the opportunity to return.
Birmingham's best fine dining. Not just because it has a lovely and comfortable interior but because of the amazing food and service. Food really is out of this world and taste is the focus. Service is genuinely caring as was the welcoming and the support of the someliers. Yes its expensive but worth it.
Amazing! We visited Adams for my birthday and weren't disappointed. The food was immaculately presented and served by friendly, knowledgeable staff. I would definitely recommend the accompanying wines. We cant wait to go back.
Wow Wow Wow What an unforgettable experience from start to finish. Each dish was presented so beautifully but also packed so full of flavours. The accompanying wine with each course complemented the dish perfectly. The staff were amazing very knowledgeable about each dish and also the wine.looking forward to going back.
Amazing experience, fantastic food and service in extremely comfortable surroundings. Service was attentive but not over powering. Great Wine list. We cannot wait for our next visit in 2017 and hopefully we can arrange to sit at the "Chefs" table. An extremely enjoyable evening.
Chefs table experience was amazing! The food was incredible and the service was highly attentive. We couldn't believe the professionalism of the immaculate kitchen team.
We had yet another great experience at Adams restaurant, Another fabulous evening with inspired food, excellent service and beautiful surroundings.
What a fabulous place to eat. Beautiful surroundings, fantastic food, polite and attentive staff. You do not want the experience to end, will definitely be going back for more.
Great experience. Visited with friends and we all really enjoyed this restaurant so much that we havn`t stopped talking about it. Amazing and tasty food with stunning presentation. Friendly but professional service. Best restaurant I have been to.
This is Birmingham`s flagship fine dining restaurant. The comfort and the set up of the dining area may be fab, the service is polished, friendly and welcoming but its the food that sets it apart from almost anywhere else in the UK. Beautiful....yes. Accurately cooked...yes Great textures...yes but its the taste that ultimately wins and shines through. That's what keeps us coming back.
First time at the new restaurant, but second visit to Adams. Chefs table was a great experience to see how it all works. Looked very professional and a very well ran kitchen. I didn't drink and they came up with some lovely mock-tails for me while the rest of our table had wine. Excellent dishes, especially the seafood which im not normally a big fan of. But flavors were subtle and excellently presented. Possibly one of the greatest chocolate deserts ever - amusingly presented as homemade Aero. But a million times better. Always enjoy this experience and it is truly a treat to taste the food.
I visited just before Christmas and booked the chefs table experience, it was to put simply, perfection!, I had the pleasure of Meeting Adam who's a genuinely nice guy, during the evening I was invited to view the kitchen and meet his team who gave the impression they have a real love going to work each day, that passion is reflected in the food that's presented to you. Every course from the tasting menu was exceptional, then to top it off the food was complimented even further by the wine.
overall: if you are thinking about going...just go! Adam's comes very highly recommended.
Visited just before Christmas and I have to say was not only the best meal of our lives but also set us up for the most splendid Christmas. Have booked for February at the chefs table and really can`t wait to show business colleagues just how amazing this Birmingham restaurant is.
Food and service is highly accomplished
Fabby, perfect service... not intrusive and very knowledgeable , beautiful surrounds and stunning food love it !!! Will definitely be going back for my birthday !
Wow fantastic restaurant in the center of Birmingham near to the town hall. Free parking after 7.30 pm outside. Good number of hotels just walking distance away. This is a very special restaurant in so many ways. Very warm welcome. staff put you at ease. There is no specific dress code but smart or smart casual seems to be the most fitting for this classy set up. The food is amazing really tasty and we loved the varying textures and flavours of each dish. It pays to savour every element of each dish as there is so many interesting ingredients. As i said this really is an asset to Birmingham. A truly world class restaurant in the UKs second city.
Simply brilliant food that allows the ingredients to shine. Best Lamb dish and also Scallop dish of our lives. But all 8 courses on the tasting menu were lovely. Excellent genuine and caring service, great wines and lovely atmosphere. Yes its relatively expensive but really worth it. Will be back early in the New Year.
Majestic cooking where breath taking compositions allow the ingredients to sing. Every dish is a work of art. Superb service and a really comfortable dining area suitable for romantic evenings, business meetings. or out with friends and family
Best restaurant in the West Mids.
Visited on the 7th December for a Christmas meal, and were lucky enough to have seating downstairs in front of the kitchen. The atmosphere, food and all members of staff made it a top night. Would highly recommend to all!
My wife and I have been to the first restaurant at Bennets
Hill several times and loved every meal so we were eagerly awaiting our first
trip to the new much larger venue the next time we were in Birmingham. We were not disappointed. The new premises now has the space for a
large and beautifully designed bar and seating area where a much larger
champagne and wine list is now available with a substantial range offered by
the glass and half bottle. This for us made what had previously been a fabulous
culinary experience into a better one and provided the perfect prelude to
linger before the main event. We opted
for the tasting menu yet again despite previously agreeing to try the a' la
carte and it was just amazing. Every course was beautifully crafted and
bursting with flavour and the accompanying wines were wonderfully paired to
each dish. A fabulous evening and we
just wish we lived closer!
Michelin star truly Innovative, creative and incredibly tasty food using the best ingredients. Friendly but professional service. Romantic and lovely restaurant décor and there is a chefs table which looks amazing. Great wine list and two or three sommeliers on hand to help. A visit to the kitchen is a must as its quite breath-taking, spotless and well equipped.
My wife and I recently visited Adams after a recommendation from friends. We had an amazing evening and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anybody else.
The food was exquisite, the service was impeccable all with a relaxed atmosphere. We can't wait to go back!
We went to Adams Restaurant for a birthday celebration recently and had an amazing time. The food was simply heavenly, full of flavour and texture. The service was spot on. Courteous, warm and nothing was too much trouble.
We had the tasting menu and we were served with a number of miniature entre dishes before the first taster arrived.
Each dish was carefully explained and wine recommendations were helpful. I love the way the waiters surround the table before placing each dish in front of each guest simultaneously! The food really is prepared with love and for a special occasion I simply can't think of anywhere better. I think it is certainly deserving of 2 Michelin stars as the quality is constant - we have been three times and we will be back!
What an amazing experience from start to finish my whole dining experience was just incredible and unforgettable. Every dish was immaculately presented with such detail and packed full of flavours. Waiters are intentive and informative. All in all highest quality food and service we will be back.
Great location if you are looking for a special night out. A 1 Star Michelin restaurant and is highly recommended . Have been a few times for both business and pleasure
Undoubtedly the best restaurant in Birmingham, if not the Midlands! Great new location in a decent part of Birmingham. We've been for lunch and dinner and will be dining back before Christmas luckily enough to grab a seat at the new Chef's table - can't wait!
If you want the ultimate dining expericance, great service and love your fine dining then you have to pay a visit. Problem is you might have to book well in advance to get a space. Well worth the wait though. The snacks you receive before and in between the taking menu courses are just divine.
Keep it up Adams!
We like Adam's a lot. It is a comfortable environment with a lovely ambience. Adam's attention to detail keeps us coming back for more. Always an interesting menu with vibrant colours that excite all the senses. I would call it modern cuisine at its finest.
We visited Adam's yesterday evening. It was a surprise for my friend birthday. I had read amazing reviews on google and I have to say we were absolutely delighted with the whole experience. The staff were lovely. They were friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. They had even hand written a birthday card which was a lovely touch. The food and wine fantastic, the ambience was perfect and it was a wonderful experience. At the end of our meal we were invited into the kitchen and met Adam who was very courteous. The evening was absolutely perfect and we can't wait to go again :)
WOW!!! This place is absolutely amazing. We visited here for my friend's birthday party and didn't know what to expect other than it was number 1 in Brum! Having eaten in Ramsey's best, Oliver's best, Heston's best and the top restaurants in London I have to say this tops them all. The attention to detail from the moment you walk in is perfection personified. Every course explained along with wines to accompany your food, nothing rushed and every single waiter/waitress is so well presented and informed. Of course it isn't cheap but you should know that before you go. This is pure quality from the moment they take your jacket to the moment you leave the building. Will definitely be going back as soon as we can get back in!!! Thank you all for a wonderful dining experience and to Adam.....thank you for birthday card signed by you and your staff that morning.
Simply Birmingham's best fine dining restaurant. Food is recognisable, but highly creative, tasty and really well presented. Marriage of flavours amazing. Ingredients well sourced. No resorting to smoke and mirrors the food speaks for itself. Service way beyond any where else in the West Midlands with a polished team who are both friendly and professional. Two specialised and skilled Sommeliers on hand and a wealth of great staff who realise what they are part of. Restaurant itself is lovely, suitable for both business and romantic visits. Great wine list with some really great value bottles as well as all the first growths. There is a PDR as well as a kitchen table adjacent to the pass where you can see it all coming together. Birmingham is maturing into a real world class destination thanks to the inner city investment and wonderful restaurants like this.
Recently visited again for lunch which was fantastic and incredible value for money for this standard.
The new restaurant is wonderful. With a lovely bar and champagne table. The dining area is classy and very comfortable. Service is seamless. friendly and most professional. Food utilises the very best ingredients it is creative, beautifully presented and extremely tasty. Great wine list supported by two sommeliers. West Midlands best restaurant by some distance. Michelin Star and the highest rating by the Good Food Guide in the area. Rated by Trip advisor as UKs No 1
Recent visit to the chefs table was incredible.
I opted for the 9 course tasting menu, which came with a series of canapés. Each dish was well conceived and executed faultlessly. My favourite dishes were the Spelt and the Veal. Service was exemplary.
Adam’s Restaurant, Birmingham’s newest fine dining restaurant, is located at the bottom of Bennetts Hill in the city centre. Adam Stokes and his wife Natasha have moved from Scotland after receiving a Michelin star and four AA rosettes at Glenapp Castle, to set up here in our city. Adam’s is a two year ‘pop up’ restaurant which will see the team through until their new home is finished – a top secret location somewhere near to their current one.
Atmosphere
On our arrival, the restaurant had a good buzz about it, with five tables of couples chatting and enjoying their experience. The interior is well decorated and certainly does not feel like a merely temporary home. We were greeted by the restaurant manager Corin, who was smart, young and well-spoken.
We started our meal with some aperitifs – Belvedere gin and tonic, and began the tough choice of deciding what to eat. It all sounded so good. We plumped for the five-course menu with accompanying wines, although we did exchange to a lamb dish from the nine-course menu for our meaty main on the five-course set.
To start…
Our amuse bouche selection certainly set the tone for things to come. A small Hendricks gin foam with cucumber and coriander was a perfect summer palate cleanser. This was followed by radishes protruding from soil – the burnt onion ash with lemon and chive provided the perfect accompaniment to the crunchy summer veg. The third and most triumphant morsel was described as a roast chicken dinner and had to be eaten in one mouthful. This small spherical lollipop burst with an intense flavour of chicken, that married perfectly with the small disk of sage stuffing that adorned it.
The main event…
Now it was time for the main five courses to begin. First up was seared tuna served with black pepper, olive tapenade, shallot rings and broad bean flowers. The tuna was perfectly cooked and its wonderful flavour was heightened by its perfectly-chosen accompaniments. The fish melted in the mouth and was just the match for the Gavi di Gavi wine.
Second up was asparagus served with a warm mayonnaise, poached quails eggs, pink grapefruit, wild garlic toast and hazelnuts. This is one of the chef’s signature dishes and it is easy to see why. The combination of flavours and textures is a triumph and perfectly showcases the spring vegetable. The grapefruit added a lift to the dish and elevated the warm mayonnaise accompaniment beautifully cutting through the richness of the sauce. I even mopped up the last morsels with the chef’s recipe sourdough that we had been served.
The lamb was beautifully cooked and blushed pink throughout. It was accompanied by purple sprouting broccoli, wild rice and gentleman’s relish – a salty anchovy butter which sat atop a small piece of slow-cooked neck of lamb. The accompanying wine was a Tempranillo from New Zealand which offered the perfect level of tannin and acidity to balance the dish without taking over.
I have to comment that this dish could definitely have been bigger. And although the flavours worked well together, but I could not help thinking that some form of potato would have finished the dish.
Desserts
Onto the sweet treats! We began with a tasting of raspberry with lemon curd and champagne jelly. The raspberry was presented three ways: fresh, freeze-dried and in a sorbet. It was the perfect foil for the sweet creaminess of the curd and the summer fizz of the champagne jelly.
Next came a cylinder of glossy, brittle dark chocolate containing a soft, luxurious milk chocolate filling, served with an intense puree of caramel, a yogurt sorbet and a crisp pepper tuille. The harmony of the chocolate and caramel with the pepper and yogurt was excellent and was a befitting way to end the meal. This course was paired with that classic dessert wine, Hungarian Tokaji. This wasn’t for me. I preferred it with the aged port that my partner chose – the fortified wine working in perfect harmony with the rich, dark chocolate.
Pricing
Our meal was by no means cheap (£202 with service). But, for a special occasion, in a restaurant of this quality, it is to be expected. I am already looking forward to returning and sampling the set lunch.
Adam’s offers a set lunch menu for £25 (3 courses), and two set tasting menus; one with 5 courses (£45) and the other with 9 courses (£75). Wine flights to accompany these tasting menus are also available.
Overall
Overall the meal was excellent. But there were areas where Adam’s ‘pop-up’ nature‘ showed itself. The choice of breads was very limited, and the petit fours were very basic (a small square of dark chocolate and pumpkin seed brownie) These small details did not detract from the overall experience. The service was truly excellent, well-informed and attentive without being overbearing.
Special mention must go again to Corin who worked the room with the expected level of professionalism and approachability that one takes for granted in a restaurant of this standard. It is great to see another restaurant of this standard in Birmingham. Surely it will not be long before Adam, Natasha and their team celebrate joining the city’s other Michelin-starred eateries in that most exclusive of clubs.
It's getting harder and harder to pick a winner for the best Michelin restaurant in Brum these days. I probably should stop trying as they're all fricking exceptional, and Adams doesn't let the team down and fully justifies its current no.1 status on Trip Advisor for Birmingham restaurants.
From the second you walk into the new restaurant, it oozes class and luxury. The old pop up, which I had the fortune to visit twice, was small and always felt temporary. This place feels like home. The bar area is gorgeous, full of light and reflection with very attractive lights hanging. The 2 pre-dinner drinks we had were winners, the negroni was probably the best incarnation I've had and Em's amaretto & champagne fizz was lush.
Then into the opulent dining room, and straight into the 9 course tasting menu (the supplementary lobster course was a no brainer). I couldn't fault any of the courses to be honest, the highlights were definitely the monkfish which was chunky and delicious, the grouse which I've never had before, and 2 sweets were awesome. I also need to include the crab mousse inside the spring roll on the lobster course - one of the best things I've tasted.
A word also for the 4 snacks pre meal, which is an excellent touch that Michelin places seem to all add - the tempura prawns were a perfect balance of crunch, succulent prawn and a delicious side sauce.
The service was exceptional - not overbearing or intrusive, with plenty of delicious bread and all courses were well explained.
Adams is definitely an experience all foodies need to have. Obviously not cheap but well worth splashing out for special occasions!
This was my 4th visit here - but 1st in this new Waterloo St location.
The restaurant location is excellent and the spacing inside is great! Our table of 7 were sat towards the back - great considering how noisy our conversation got. The Chef's table is downstairs.
We had the 9 course tasting menu. Some of us tried out the wine pairings - and there were a choice of 2 flights. Those who tried the more expensive pairing weren't as impressed with the choices.
The food was - as always - delicious. Couldn't fault a single dish. The staff are good at asking about allergies and working around them.
This is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to! Well it is a Michelin star restaurant which means it's amazing but it had a different aspect to it which meant it loved it even more. Ok so the food was fantastic, at some point I had a sort of mushroom croquette which was heavily. Full in flavour, earthy and simultaneously light and just melted on the tongue. Really every course was just incredible, even the bread was to die for. We had a bottle of rasteau which was beautiful!
But now what surprises me the most was that the staff and the whole atmosphere was very relaxed, no stuffiness, it wasn't pretentious either. The staff were friendly and professional but nice. Just really nice! I loved it!
We even wrote a blog about it - fine dining without the fuss: https://yumzee.co.uk/2016/07/23/fine-dining-without-the-fuss/
Superb restaurant! Will creditably go back
This was my first time here and it was beautiful. It is pricey but what an great experience of fine dinning, the whole experience was worth it. I wish I had taken photo's of all the dishes I had as they were delicious. We had the 3 main course, but you get little ontrays inbetween each course which were delightful. If you want to try fine dinning please come here, the place and staff were friendly and welcoming.
Wow what more can you say about Birmingham's top Michelin Star restaurant. Insider tips are this will make the second star at the next Michelin reviews and after this meal I can say the rumours will be true! A very pricey night with the bill coming to a whopping £180, this is a true dining experience for real foodies. The service matches that of the French, the food is world class and the ambiance is supreme. You will be welcomed to meet the head chef and the true mastermind behind the restaurant if you ask politely which is always a fantastic touch. Check out the pics for your pleasure. 100%, 10/10, 100/100, 5/5 whatever you want to call it!
Bold flavours, artful presentation and amazing service! The chef is unafraid to experiment with tastes that ensures your buds are in for an unforgettable ride. The service has to be mentioned especially where the priority is a satisfied and happy customer. If you have dietary restrictions they are willing to try and cater to your needs. Definitely a jewel in the Birmingham restaurant scene!
We had a lovely meal at Adams. As soon as we entered the quality of service shone and we were made to feel welcome and comfortable. That high level of formal, but relaxed service continued throughout. We threw in a couple of last minute dietary requirements and it was no issue. The food was of a high standard and thoroughly enjoyed by the whole table. I have to say though, for me the front of house staff really made the evening.
We went for our wedding anniversary and was not dissapointed. From the service to the food, the experience was brilliant. We went for the 7 course tasting meal, as we do not eat certain foods, we requested our dietary needs which they catered for. As I stated we were coming for our anniversary, the sent me a special menu where you can purchase balloons, flowers or cakes, which was a lovely touch, the wife was pleased when the flowers came out. Of course, being a Michelin star resturant, the food was delicious, I would defo recommend coming.
Beautiful restaurant and the staff were so attentive throughout, explaining all of the dishes and topping up drinks orders. The food was incredible and we'll worth the price tag. We had the 5 course tasting lunch and would highly recommend!
Dec 23
Absolutely knock out service, couldn't fault a thing. Perfect attention to detail. Taster menu sublime, especially the rabbit and rum baba courses. A wonderful couple of hours, totally chilled, the perfect treat to mark the end of the working year. Thank you!
(Dec pics and menu from image 11 onwards)
Sept 23 4.5/5. Dined here last evening for birthday/anniversary celebration. Second visit in four months. The tasting menu was varied and interesting, see pic. They accommodated my OH who doesn't eat red meat or chocolate. I've only docked 1/2 point as both dishes for one course were served tepid (lemon sole/lamb) the lamb was also chewy. (I offered this feedback and was offered another dish which I declined). I'm also not a fan of unisex toilets. The service synchronisation was a little hit and miss such that the spacing between courses was inconsistent. Our aperitifs were slow to arrive which then cut into the wine time. All this does not detract from a lovely evening. But often its the attention to detail which makes the difference, especially for a high priced evening. Will definitely return however. Thank you for the greetings cards on the table.
We went for lunch in January and had a fantastic meal. The snacks and little deserts are always delightful at these kinds of restaurants and they were delicious here. Every course was wonderfully well presented and the flavours and textures were amazing.
The staff were really nice. Personable and friendly, making it more relaxed and not too starchy and formal. Would definitely recommend.
Top notch food, top notch service, top notch place. (Only thing I didn’t quite get was the marmalade with fish but it’s probably just me and my tastebuds.)
We had the 5 course lunch menu and it was a real treat. Each one had so much flavour. There is a 3 course option but the meals aren’t huge so that might leave you a little hungry.
I visited Adams yesterday (23rd April) with my wife for our Anniversary. We had the 7 course tasting menu.
Wow. Just wow. What an incredible experience. We were taken on a journey with interesting, exciting dishes. The wine list is incredible, and Seb's knowledge of the wine is second to none. His recommendations were perfect.
The service is the best that we have ever experienced.
What a place. It comes with a price that you would expect, but you really are getting something that is second-to-none. We enjoyed every single minute and every bite. Thank you!
Had a fantastic lunch here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. As we were lunching we went for the seven course tasting menu and a carafe of white wine and a glass of red rather than having the wine pairing. Each of the courses, and indeed the snacks, were delicious. Real standouts were the quail and the pumpkin custard dessert. Each dish was a brilliant mix of textures and flavours and beautifully presented. Service was great and we even got a little bottle of syrup each to make calted caramel coffees. Another fantastic experience at Adam's and hopefully one we'll be able to enjoy again.
I think Adam’s is a great place for a special occasion where you want a ‘high-end’ experience. The staff are very professional and knowledgable and really add to the experience - the food is beautifully presented and you also get some snacks before the meals and to take away after.
The tasting menu itself was really good however I do think it’s fairly similar to other places I’ve been to which offer a similar menu style. As mentioned, I think the experience itself is 100% worth the price and I would definitely recommend it
This was our first meal out with our, then, 5 month old baby. We were so well looked after by the staff - even though we were running a little late, the staff were gracious and kind and made us feel very welcome. The food was delicious, the meat was so tender and the decor was superb. What a fantastic meal out after ages. Thank you to the team at Adam’s for being so wonderful
My experience with Adams was truly wonderful.
My family and I visited Adams for lunch at the Chef's Table and were treated to a truly spectacular meal. The chance to watch the chefs at work was wonderful - their attentiveness and commitment to their culinary art is utterly enthralling. All our dishes were beautifully composed, made from a subtly intermingling mixture of flavours delicate and bold.
What's more, the kindness and charm of the serving staff ensured that we all felt welcome, at ease and well looked after. It was fascinating to hear about the composition of our dishes, and the knowledge of all of the staff made our experience superb for a group of foodie fanatics.
We loved our time with Adams, and the kindness and warmth of all of the team meant that our time with you was outstanding in every way.
From start to finish, we were blown away. By the end of the night, and the end of our 7 courses (plus all the extras they give you) we could not decide on our favourite. Every single thing we ate was gorgeous! We were encouraged to get more bread to mop up the sauces, which was great as there is no egos or pretentiousness, which you do get from some high end places. Service could not have been better, with the courses well paced and well portioned, and attentive staff who didn’t intrude unnecessarily. The cocktails were probably the only let down of the night, being okay, but nothing special. It is so far beyond worth the price, and as the menu changes so often, it is fair to say we will be back. It is definitely a place for a special occasion, and makes for a very enjoyable evening (we were there just over 3 hours)
It is a place I will not forget, a few courses will probably stay with me forever, being some of the best food I’ve eaten.
It was a fantastic experience sitting at the Chef's table. All dishes served were excellent and flavourful and I'd recommend coming here for a treat. If you plan to also book the Chef's table, do so well in advance as reservations go quickly (the table seats 12 people in total).
I was on crutches when I attended, but they made it as easy as possible for me to get around, and were kind enough to give me a stool to rest my leg, without me even asking for it.
This was my first experience dining at a Chef's table and it was great to see the chefs and the kitchen at work. It's brilliant how they stayed calm and organised with all the orders coming through. It's clear the head chef, Kieron, has built a great team around him and it was interesting to observe the guidance he was giving his younger chefs throughout the evening.
To add to the experience of the Chef's table, each chef presented their dish as it was served. It was clear some of them would rather their food do the talking as they were a bit shy. But they shouldn't be, as its obvious from their dishes, they're talented chefs.
All the dishes were fantastic, and looked like pieces of art. They were all seasoned well and I truly couldn't find a fault with any of them.
We chose to go for the wine pairing with the meal and each wine was perfectly paired with the dishes.
While it's a pricey meal, the quality of the food and the service offered made it all worthwhile if you enjoy fine dining experiences. I'll look forward to attending again as I'm aware their menu is seasonal and I'm sure it will wow me next time I come here.
I have visited Adam's twice and I was very impressed, especially during the second visit. The tasting menu was very well-designed, and the food had great flavour combination and balance. Ambiance was good and the service was excellent. In fact, I find Adam's to be better than some of the two-Michelin star restaurants that I have been to! I highly recommend Adam's and I fully intend to return in the future.
Overall great experience. But my problem with Fine dining will always be the portion size. Unfortunately it's too little but everything that was served was delish.
