went here Wednesday night for a family meal and it was the best meal we have had while out in ages.the food was fantastic especially the gluten free options. both my mum and i are gluten intolerant and we both thoroughly enjoyed all that we had especially the gluten free syrup sponge pudding best we've had in ages. will be making a visit here again in the future. great food and the staff were very friendly

What a great place we called in on the 9th June 17 about 2.20 for food so took our order first because it was nearing end of lunches, then we ordered the drinks all reasonably priced, when the food came the Fish was like Whales the Chips were hand cut and good portion overall , would recommend The Waterloo Inn to anyone ***** from us

We stayed here for 3 nights over the August Bank Holiday weekend, and it was lovely. The surrounding countryside was beautiful and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We stayed in our tent with our toddler son, who had the freedom to run around! The food in the Waterloo Inn was lovely, and I would highly recommend the chicken tikka masala. The shower blocks are kept very clean, and the toilets are located in the pub, but are open throughout the night should you need them. The only thing I would say is that there are only hooks on the wall in the shower block, and it may be helpful to have a little stool to place other items on, just underneath the hooks. Otherwise, we had a lovely time and would go back again.

What a great place, stayed there 2 nights in caravan, price per night really good with electric hookup. Pub itself is small so need to book for food, all the staff are really nice n friendly and the food is to die for, it's superb, proper chips, not out the bag, melt in the mouth fish, hot double spicy chicken burger, game pie, sausage of the week which changes, also has Quorn option, Belgian waffle n ice-cream with toffee sauce, apple crumble n custard, good portions sizes aswell. Couple of real ales on also which change, pub is also dog friendly ( not that we have dog ) . Will definitely be returning.

Recently visited this charming pub again in the peak district. It is what we would class as a "proper pub"- great selection of well kept real ales, great staff ( particularly Jan) and good pub food, not overpriced either considering it is in the heart of the peak district, where others have over priced their menu for the tourists. Its got charm too, and clearly well supported by local trade too. These pubs need support!! Particularly after being kicked repeatedly by the authorities during the last 3 years of what must have been hospitality hell. Well done Waterloo. We shall be back next time we visit and thanks for a lovely dinner. Jo and Nick x

We had lunch here before our walks near Thor's Cave. Plenty choices on lunch menu. Burger was great but fish & chips not. Chips could be improved. However, the service was quick and attentive.

Traditional pub in a lovely setting serving excellent pub food at a good price. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and a big thanks to them & the chef who managed to fit us in for meals even though we were after the cut off time on Fri and again when they were already fully booked on Sat. (Should have pre booked early I know!) Both meals were great. We stayed in the campsite at the rear of the pub using the pub, which has all the facilities you need (shower room, washing up area, water, electric hook up & use of the pub toilets - basic but adequate and clean). A nice peaceful site surrounded by lovely places and great for walking. Will definitely try to return.

My experience here, as someone following a gluten free diet, was excellent. There are three homemade pies on the menu all of which come in a gluten free version, steak, lamb and veg. It made a refreshing change to find gluten free pastry on a pub menu. I hope other pubs follow in your footsteps!

We have had an amazing weekend. A group of us met there for our annual collifest and booked the whole site. Stevie and the staff made us so welcome. The food was great and there was even gluten a d dairy free options. We are all going back again next year

Great traditional pub in a really nice village. Friendly staff and locals. Fantastic beer garden I could have sat there all day enjoying the sunshine and views. A choice of traditional cask ales as well as a few lagers and ciders. Great pitstop if your doing the Tissington trail.

Yeah it's was alright I'd go again. We stopped in our small camper for the night. It was £25 for one night and then you had to buy your food aswell which is strange as most pubs I know just make you buy some grub and booze from the pub so it's a costly night stay or it could be after a few to many 🤣. Apart from that it was decent food and the facilities were clean.

A great walkers/caravan site pub with a nice atmosphere & attentive friendly staff. A good menu, the food was home cooked & delicious & they served a good range of beers. The chips were a little burnt this time but we won't let that put us off!

Food was the highlight, great food, good choice and tastey food delivered in timely manner. Downside was that pub wasnt very homely (no fire and decor needed freshening up) and draught ale options all very similar (all 3 were pale ales). Lovely staff and managing well in these Covid times.

What a find! Staying in Hartington we googled pubs near us and this gem was top of the list. The landlady was brilliant and her hospitality, beer, and food were fantastic. As she put it 'we're a pub that sells food, not a restaurant that sells beer!' Long may it continue Waterloo, a great proper boozer with rustic charm, great ale and food and impeccable hospitality, 10 out of 10, we'll be back, thank you. Nick and Jo. Revisited today, just over a year later, great ales, and a proper pub atmosphere, we love this place.
