I come here regularly anyone who hasn't been you do not know what your missing top-notch food at a great price spotlessly clean great staff best carvery in the country in my opinion if your in the area get down the plough ooo & the new dessert counter top notch
Outstanding pub, in beautiful surroundings. Staff very polite, helpful and friendly.
Fantastic carvery and the faggots dish is absolutely delicious. Cannot fault this place at all. Shall definitely be dining here again and again. Worth 10 * without a doubt
I don't usually give reviews, but after seeing some negative reviews on here I felt that I really should give my opinion. We have had a lovely meal this evening, as we have had here for many years. Our 3 course meal was at the bargain price of £10, which included the carvery as an option. My starter of garlic mushrooms was delicious, the vegetarian roulade amazing and the salted caramel pudding soon disappeared! Staff were friendly and all very helpful. Whenever we visit here the dining area is packed - which speaks for itself. Today was a last minute booking so we were seated in the bar area, but that was fine - a more cosy, informal atmosphere. Value for money.
Absolutely fantastic three course meal once again . Hot , delicious, and plentiful. Can't fault anything. Service very good and staff pleasant. Can't wait to visit again. £10 for three courses an absolute bargain. Must not forget it is also a lovely drive in the countryside.
Loved it!!
friendly staff, food was really tasty and the pub itself is beautiful. the smell of the open fire was amazing. Will definitely be back
The Carvery is the best ever ! Very generous portions of meat. First class quality meat. Good selection of vegetables and tasty gravy. We had not booked but even though it was Friday lunchtime and very busy, we managed to get a table for two.
The best carvery in Great Britain, and that is a fact. HUGE portions, and I mean huge! Loads of meat, good choice, often 4 types. Their garlic potatoes are to die for. Great selection of quality beer and ciders, roaring log fire in the winter. Puddings are excellent too.
Had the 3 courses for £10 with a friend. Food was all very tasty and will definitely be returning to try again, highly recommend it. Great value for the money

We reserved a table wasn’t in resterant but in longevby bar where there was an smell off open fire service to start was slow meal was ok but thee courses for 12 pound was good
Well worth the trip! The food is exquisite and so reasonably price. Portions sizes are great and is definitely filling! I will be coming here again definitely!
I have been to The Plough on two separate occasions, one recently and find the food, drink and service to be good. It consider eating hear to be exceptional good value for money. The manner in which this placed is organised and managed may confuse some people and it takes a little time to get used to.
A lovely homely pub that we'll revisit again, especially in the winter when the fire is on. The meal was great value and very nice also. £36 for 3 3 course meals..superb. Really enjoyed my desert. No wonder the place was busy, but it didn't impact the experience. The service was friendly and good.
The food is such good quality for the price that we spent the drive home considering if we’d time travelled to a better economy. The food was hot and well cooked and the dessert selection is exceptional! Every other restaurant is ruined, how can we ever justify anything less than three courses for £12. Small knit pick in that the tables were a bit low so I couldn’t cross my legs when I sat down. Otherwise pretty amazing!
It was quite expensive for drinks, and I was a bit surprised. Otherwise good décor and place suites for a family/ friends occasion dinning. Nice tables outside.
Food was fantastic and good value at £12 for 3 courses. We were there at 6:30pm and it was extremely busy. (At least 2birthday parties) The staff I genuinely believe would have offered a lot more help under normal conditions, but I commend them for remaining polite and helpful in stressful times. So apart from being tightly packed in, I can strongly recommend going, would say if you have anyone with mobility requirements, phone ahead to book the right table I'm sure they will oblige and you'll not regret it. Enjoy!
Well what can I say about this place. Firstly where can you get a 3 course meal for £12, which includes carvery, yes that's right £12. My husband up graded to a 28oz T-bone steak for an extra £8! The food was delicious, the starters were really delicious, the carvery had plenty of choice the meat was gorgeous and tender, with the person serving the carvery meat asking if what he had served us was okay and to our liking.
My husband's T-bone was cooked to perfection and was huge, it was served with chips, mushrooms, peas, tomato, onion rings. The steak itself was better than other leading, steak restaurants.
The lamb shank is also another excellent choice on the menu, it was tender and melted in the mouth.
The staff are warm and friendly, the only thing I would say is a lot times a little slow, however I am taking that they are slow because it's always busy. Nothing is to much trouble. If there is an issue they will try to sort it, straight away.
Honestly, if you are looking for a lovely country pub nestled, in the Far Forest not to for from Birmingham then this is one to try. A lovely drive out, you won't be disappointed
Everything was fantastic we went on a trip with kings norton coaches so cheap as well in these days much needed
Family meal, great staff sorted out all the questions we had, great carvery and big choice of desserts, all with cream, custard or ice cream.
We have been here one Saturday afternoon. It was very busy, but the staff handled the situation. The food was good and plenty. Drinks were a little bit higher price, but overall it worth to visit.
Amazing value, nice food lovely atmosphere would highly recommend book a table as really busy and popular 😀 👍
Arrived not long before the end of the carvery...not a problem...still plenty of fresh food to choose from. Warm cabinet stocked to the very end.
Atmosphere is lovely and the staff are welcoming and friendly. Would definitely recommend.
3 courses for £12 ? We had to check this out, it got better, when we arrived the place was packed which was nice to see in these difficult times. On the menu was a huge T bone and Porterhouse steak 🥩 for an extra £8 😯 so 3 of us had these £20 for a 3 course meal with a bad boy steak can't be bad. So 2 of the ladles had an 18oz steak and one had carvery, everything was cooked perfectly. Starters we had chicken wings, garlic mushrooms and I had pork bites in a jack daniels bbq sauce. Puds we had, ice-cream, and waffles. All in all a great night out with our friends and a lovely meal 😋 oh and apparently its a 5 meat carvery 😳🍺🍺
To be honest I was dubious to say the least about a 3 course meal for £12.00. Quality, size etc. However I was wrong! The food was excellent, my steak was cooked perfectly and my mothers Cajun chicken ended up being too large for her as it consisted of 2 large chicken breasts along with the trimmings. So I ended up having to eat one of them. :-) We had no room for desert but could of exchanged the dessert for a tea or coffee. All in all an excellent meal for less than what a single course would cost you anywhere else.
Wow. Not only is the pub finished to a really high standard in beautiful surroundings, but the food was excellently cooked and well presented. Seeing it was 3 courses for £10 Mon-Sat I expected a limited menu, but I was so wrong. And you can mix n match from the children's menu for fussy eaters. Mark (owner/manager) saw my wife spill my sons drink whilst moving the table slightly and insisted on replacing it freely so we could carry on enjoying our meal. Excellent table service with very friendly staff made it a real treat.
Popped in for a breakfast, a bit late at 11:30 they were getting ready for the carvery lunch. The staff were so friendly and gave me a little tour of the conservatory with its hand painted glass all round. Took time to explain the lunch menu and prices to tempt us back, which will happen! breakfast was great. Service really friendly, and just a lovely atmosphere with all its decor and obvious love of animals. Felt really comfortable here with our dog too. Definitely recommend, a little treasure and can’t wait to get back to try more of the menu.
Always pay a visit when we're in the area, it has just The Best' carvery.
Great portion sizes too.
Great deals on 3 courses...always leave satisfied. Lovely friendly helpful staff, lovely big warm fire in the cold months 5*

We been here a few times now, both during the week and at weekends- pre-booking is advised no matter when as it does get very busy. The Sunday lunch here is amazing, the meat is Aga cooked and there is usually 4 or 5 different types to pick from, a good choice of potatoes and veg, and of course Yorkshire puddings and the rest. You can have as little or as much as you can get in your plate. Then if you have room there is a good selection of puddings, cakes and ice creams. We don’t go anywhere else for Sunday lunch now, why bother cooking yourself when you can have this! Lots of seating, a good bar and lovely decor inside. Staff are friendly and helpful. Order and pay at the till and take your receipt when you go get your food.
Excellent food & service at a very reasonable price. Would highly recommend.
We’re from Anglesey & a friend took us there & we were very impressed with the food, the beautiful restaurant & the cleanliness.
We’ve just booked to go again whilst we’re in the area. 100% perfect
Great carvery at very reasonable prices. The best for small or large bookings. Excellent selection of meals. Great staff and service.
Went there boxing day with eleven family members and had a lovely meal. Usual excellent service and great value. Well done the Plough.
Lovely pub/restaurant. Beautiful setting. Food great. Friendly atmosphere. The only problem I found as a less than mobile customer, did find carrying drinks up a few stairs from the bar to where were seated near the carvery was awkward as was having to go down again to toilets.
