OMG have come along tonight for the first time since it reopening , what can I say ? The food is WOW WOW WOW . Had the recommendation of the Beef Blade , and my husband had the steak and ale pie with cheese crust . The beef was divine , totally fell apart didn't have to cut it it was that well done was totally beautiful . My husbands pie was WOW too , both meals delicious . The welcome when we come was great , made welcome by the staff and the owner . Will definitely be back again , as it was lovely to go to an establishment where we were acknowledged and made welcome . Great to see a hustle and bustle esp when a larger party came in 20+, and a member of staff came over and asked if we wanted to move because of the noise . We were happy to stay where we were , but also appreciated being asked . Definitely 5⭐️'s from us
Came here yesterday with my fiancé, son (9) and dog! We had the steak pie- it was the best pie I've ever had. Chips were amazing too. I even ate the veg (I hate veg). Great atmosphere with cozy log fire. Very nice decor. Double thumbs up!
Call in regularly with our pack of hounds for after walk drinks, very friendly quick to get water for the family and always polite and friendly to us as well
We went for Sunday lunch
food and service was at a very high standard
We will return back again
Brilliant
All the best to the new owners
Amazing food fab hospitality staff luvly def 5 ***** xx
Went for lunch. Had the pie, I had the chips and my wife the new potatoes. Both absolutely spot on. Nice pint of great newsome Koru aswell. Very helpful and friendly staff. Couldn't fault anything.
Table booked for Christmas Eve afternoon. Lovely festive feel upon arrival. The decor was cosy esp with the lighting snd fire's Table at the back..Staff were great, friendly and efficient. The food was fantastic. We opted for the haddock & scampi..pudding I chose Terry's Choc Orange Cheesecake and a cappuccino. The Cheesecake was delicious, the coffee smelt and tasted great. This was recommended to us, a great place
Went for Christmas dinner in a group of ten. We really enjoyed every minute. The service was attentive but not overdone, the food was really very good, plentiful and we all had different choices from the menu, no-one complained. Can highly recommend, and we will definitely be back next year. Thank you.
A lovely old pub with a friendly atmosphere serving great food. Such a choice to choose from
something to suit everyone .First class service from Alex nothing was too much bother a place to revisit for sure. Thank you😊
Lovely food and building. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Drinks are a little pricey
Good pub, with great food. Nice decor inside, but I loved the garden and all the quirky signs. 6 of us ate. 6 different meals and they were all good. Homemade chips too … and if they weren’t you wouldn’t know - delicious 😋😂🥰
Went for the first time with a party of 6. Lovely friendly staff however, it took more than 45 minutes for 6 meals to be brought to the table, which was made more annoying that a party of 4 who came in after us, had ordered, had their food delivered and had eaten there’s before ours even arrived. It would have been nice for the staff to say there would be a delay at the point of ordering , or at some point during the 45 minute wait. The Pub wasn’t that busy either which would have made sense why it took so long.
The Pie ( Steak and ale) was tasty, but the pastry was not good tbh and the gravy was like gloop! The Fish and chips and Lasagana were reported to be good by the other diners in my party. It’s a nice venue overall, but some housekeeping is required in the dining room in regard to the very dusty light fitting and the numerous unpleasant cobwebs on the ceiling.
Overall what a wonderful experience.
The Iberico Ham Croquetas with choricero pepper puree were delicious.
I also had the French/Swiss cheese selection with the Saint Emilion wine. Excellent.
The server went out of her way to make sure what I was ordering was nut free. (I mentioned to her that I had a tree nut allergy)
Brilliant evening, I will definitely be back.
The whole experience was brilliant! Every single person in our group loved their meals, as you can see from the photos the portions are generous but also very high in quality. We can’t wait to come back again
Went with friends following a recommendation. It was full, lively, and beautifully presented.
Menu wasn't what I expected. It had options but was surprisingly dominated by normal pub food: burgers and ribs. That said, the starters were interesting and well prepared and presented, and a friend had the sea bass which looked outstanding. My black pudding and goats cheese was lovely, but the ribs and grilled chicken was just a poor choice.
Fabulous Sunday lunch... Again!
Roast dinner with all 3 meats of pork, beef and turkey, huge yorky pud, veg's, stuffing, crackling, mash, gravy and cauliflower cheese for extra £3.
To top it off, a triple chocolate brownie sundae which we shared. Worth every penny!
The Rose & crown is a large timbered building on the corner of Westwood Road. There is a good choice of beers and largers, including two cask conditioned hand pulled real ales, which were in excellent condition on my visit. This former darley's pub has been extensively renovated, and the former back bar is now a nice seating area for meals. The food menu looks really good with some excellent burgers and sharing platters. The pub has been really nicely decorated, there is a nice seating area at the front of the pub, and the former car park has been turned into a nice secluded beer garden. The staff are friendly, the service and the beer are good, I will definitely be back to try the food.
Very nice pub. Friendly, attentive staff. Good menu choice with vegetarian options. A delicious vegetarian Sunday roast. Nice seating areas. Spotless toilets. We parked off street just up the road. Overall excellent
First time here! Excellent service, quality of food and fire 🔥 was lovely too! Great choice and excellent value. Bonus being dog friendly! Will definitely be back!
Our first time trying the Rose and Crown since it was taken over (again). We were all very impressed. Two of us had starters - haggis Scotch eggs, with salad and smoked salmon with beetroot. The mains were chicken, sage and ham hock potato cake; halibut with prawns; sausage with apple mash; burger and chips; and kids ham and cheese pasta. All of it was high quality food, beautifully cooked, including veg with a little crunch. Even the kids pasta tasted home made, not a packet sauce. Worth also saying the halibut should have been with chorizo but when asked for the dish without it, the waitress suggested the alternative, which impressed us. Not cheap but pretty typical gastropub/restaurant prices. Good value for the quality of food, service and environment. Hoping this owner can be the one to finally make a go of this pub.
Staff where lovely, cheaper than prices in Hull so a big bonus there.
Had a table booked for 6pm on a Saturday night arrived on time and was offered drinks and made our way straight to our table, the choices of food was very good and the food was delivered to us very promptly and was absolutely delicious. The service was outstanding and all the staff were very attentive and caring.
We definitely will be going back again in the near future.
Many thanks again for a lovely evening.
Went for a wedding and was really good! Prices were reasonable and the service was excellent!
