What an amazing place! Fabulous setting, staff and food. Was visiting from Lancashire as my sister was over from the States and had the best desert I have ever had! Unfortunately there was a power cut but from our point of view it didn’t make a difference. Excellent xx
A group of us went for dinner last night and we were really impressed. The standard of food was amazing, we had mussels, lobster, lamb, burgers etc so a variety of items from the menu and the specials. Drinks were lovely too and nice decor inside. Would highly recommend! There is a bit of a wait for the food as I presume everything is freshly cooked but with good company and drinks it was definately worth it will go again in the daytime to appreciate the views as well
We were only on the island 6 days and ate here twice. Excellent food, well worth the money, great staff they were all welcoming and friendly and great views from the gardens. I would certainly recommend at least one visit, just to try the crab cakes !!
Lovely meal last night in the newly refurbished Crab & Lobster, couldn't fault my meal, really delicious smoked cod.
Attentive staff, good food and great company.
Lovely lunch for hubby's 50th yesterday. Crab cakes out of this world. Seafood platter to die for. Just needed more bread with the baked cametbert as it was to share. Many thanks
Went here last night after the refurbishment, great cosy decor, relaxed atmosphere and amazing food, we had starters and the hot seafood platter for main and we were very impressed, definitely going to come back.
Brilliant service and delicious food. They happily catered for a vegan diet! Highly recommend.
Dropped in for a quick drink with my family. We sat outside and admired the view of the ocean. Inside the pub they had an open fire with a table for 2 right in front. It looked like a perfect spot to spend an hour or 2 having a drink on a cold and winters day. Got a discount on drinks (⅓ off) with their app, worth looking into.
We didn’t stay in a room so can’t comment on that, 5* for everything else. The restaurant does not realise they served a Lord and Lady.
We were pleasantly surprised to be welcomed with a smile, at one point I felt like i wanted to give a hug like I haven’t seen a mate for a long time and arrived at his/her home, the mannerisms, personalities were all there. 5*
The cleanliness, services, all there! We all had separate dishes and we all were very satisfied. Lady Bassett was the main one to impress, she was extremely satisfied with her lobster. She ate it like a feral champion. “It was delicious” 5*
Location is nicely tucked away, peaceful with a spectacular view, it was unfortunate we couldn’t stay for long as the weather was dull and wet, but we can see amazing it is.
Thank you so much!
We found this pub by accident and arrived in our bikes. We were greeted by friendly staff and shown to our room, The Nab. Room was perfect. We ate supper outside as it was warm. Again, friendly staff and a beautiful location. Avoid the ´signature starter’ crab dish, it was tiny, unevenly heated, runny, and a real disappointment at £14. The rest of the meal was pub food at restaurant prices, but that didn’t stop us enjoying it. The bed was comfortable and breakfast, included in the price, was delicious, generous portion, and again very friendly service. The staff made our stay enjoyable and good value overall. We will happily return.
Can’t comment on rooms as went for a meal only. We had a booking for a family meal for my nieces birthday, all the staff were great and mentioned her birthday to her. The location is lovely, above a beautiful beach which we popped to whilst we were waiting for food. We realised that we were going to be tight catching the last hovercraft to the mainland and the floor manager went out of his way to find a taxi for us (not the easiest on the island) to get us there on time so the rest of the family didn’t have to rush their food to take us. Really appreciated this fantastic customer service as it meant we could all enjoy our meals - which were delicious!
Lovely old inn almost on the waterfront. Weather was miserable but welcome warm wheelchair access ok but could be made a little easier. Food very nice and super generous portions. Reasonably priced
Went for Sunday lunch, lovely staff, food was great! I had the beef roast.... beautiful!! 😍 good amount of meat and different veg, definitely recommend! Good price.
And then we went on a coastal walk and down to the beach after which was so lovely to finish off the day 😍
Really fab place. Hidden gem. I loved inside ...so much to look at. Fantastic service although it was the Area Manager that was front of house. Food was fantastic but I was disappointed with the prawns. Frozen perhaps...a couple of big fresh prawns would have been better. Go early or book in advance.
We stopped here for a quick bite so cannot comment in depth one way or the other... But.. it is a lovely cosy pub, and the food we did have was excellent... I had a baked brie, and my wife had the seafood soup... Both were delicious... Service was great,.and prices not bad... We would definitely go back to eat a full meal there as and when we get the chance again....
We stayed here for one night and had dinner as well as breakfast. The room was sadly a bit lacking with the view being the chimney of the kitchen with a slight fried smell hanging in the room. Additionally the heater was broken (they knew about it and tried to get it fixed so no blame here) and running in our bathroom and the shower was a bit unusual. Nonetheless the bed was good and the location is superb for the coastal path.
Our dinner was very good! Especially the Plaice was pan fried very fine and the goat cheese risotto was tasty as well. The servers were sometimes a bit rushing about but always very helpful and friendly.
Breakfast by the sea was absolutely stunning and the eggs royal were very good on a fresh muffin.
All in all a great experience.
Great food but I've been a here a couple of times and the service was slow on each visit. I'm still going to head back there though because it's a nice spot and dinner has always been nice. If service improves I'll change my rating.
Called to book a table. On arrival, we were greeted and shown our table strsight away. Very friendly staff, humorous and smiles on their faces. Our drinks were served with 10mins and orders place with 10mins after that. Reasonable waiting time before our orders appears. It is important to point out that the food are suitably hot and delicious. The presentation of the Signature Dish could be slightly improved - in a 2 tiers system with hot items on the lower tier and cold items on the top tier. But this is my personal preference only. Whaf was important for me was the temperature of the hot items and suitably cool items. My last words to the Manager was "The trip has not been wasted" So I can thoroughly recommend this place for the seafood lovers. We will be returning on our next visit to IOW soon. .
Lovely setting. Very friendly and entertaining staff, Top quality food and Ale. we visited for 2 nights and will certainly do so again if in the area
It was a warm and sunny day when we visited (8 of us), so we decided to have our meal al fresco. The place was very busy and there was a longish wait for the food. Overall, service was satisfactory, but not excellent. For example, we asked for some tartare sauce, but it never arrived. The one downside with this restaurant is that you have to wend your way through narrow roads and when you get there, there aren't many parking spaces.
Bien, mais pas génial.
