My recent stay here was so comfortable and relaxing! In a quaint town and the building was recently renovated/updated and is adorable. Rooms are above the restaurant, which was quiet. Breakfast was included however keep in mind it was a very simple continental breakfast. However with the room rate being so cheap I didn't mind, they also were trialing a hot breakfast option while I was there that the guests got to try that I thought was great so that is available for purchase. Friendly staff and clean, comfortable room. Not the kind of hotel for people who require a lot of services/needs as it's an inn above a restaurant, my husband and I are low maintenance and were happy with our cozy, comfortable room.
This hotel provided a very comfortable stay on our recent staycation, large modern rooms with all the amenities you need. We ate downstairs in the British-Indian restaurant/pub, which was very nice indeed; we also had a delicious breakfast included the following morning. A fine location for visiting location tourist attractions and traditional local pubs.
New owners, so they are still have a bit to learn. Saying that they wish to do all they can to make your stay a pleasant one. The food was very good and plenty of it. Yes if we were in the area again, we would stay there again.
we had a very warm welcome and stay. All the staff are friendly and helpful. The Strutt Arms Hotel room we had was a amazing size plenty of room, a very comfortable double bed. And the on suit bath room a generous size, with high end finish. highly recommended stay.
The Elephant & Peacock Restaurant, is also amazing. The same staff and warm welcome, service is very good. The food is of high standard, and plenty to choose from day time and evenings.
We will stay again.
Great value for money.
Highly recommended for both :)
Perfect!
Great hotel, fabulous service, delicious food! Becky was extremely helpful from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. Beautiful, spacious rooms, comfy bed and close to public transport.
Hotel was nestled in beautiful surroundings.
Would highly recommend.
Many thanks!

Staff were very kind and helpful. Morning breakfast was great. Plenty of parking. Rooms were clean spacious with very comfy beds
Absolutely fantastic customer service. Rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. I left an item behind After check out and the staff were very helpful at getting it back to me. Thank you so much!
Great food, great atmosphere, good value and really friendly service. We had booked a specific table in the dog friendly section and we (and especially the dog!) received the warmest of welcomes. It all made for a truly lovely evening with our daughter and her partner. We'll be back.
Exceptional 'desi pub' in a large historic building. Indian food served either as snacks or meals, with superb service. As you would expect there is a large range of lagers and drinks available. Definitely returning. Enjoy. M
Visited on Saturday 17th December 2022.
Now the Elephant and Peacock serving Indian/Indian English fusion within a traditional pub setting.
Food is excellent, well presented, well cooked and quite delicious, the fish and chips with masala peas and sauce is exceptional.
Dessert menu is also excellent with what tasted like homemade kulfi, quite unusual nowadays as most is mass produced.
Drinks are far better than most Indian restaurants, there's still the usual Cobra etc, but there's also cask beer due to it being a traditional pub.
Decor is nice...on the pub side, the restaurant side really needs soft furnishings to absorb noise as it's very echoey and can get to an uncomfortable level of noise; however, this was almost certainly due to the time of year.... lots of Christmas parties were in.
Service was good but could be improved, bottle of wine was placed on table...but it wasn't opened, no cutlery, long waits for drinks, nothing major and everything was sorted out once we asked.
We'll definitely be back, although we'll wait until the Christmas/New Year party season is over.
Is now called the Elephant and Peacock. Went in for a pint after a walk in Youlgreave, had a lovely chat with bar man who made us feel very welcome.
Place has had a modern refurbishment and looks great.
Never had food but specialisers in Indian cuisine.
We were recommended The Strutt Arms hotel and they did not disappoint. The food was absolutely delicious with a good variety of dishes offered from Tapas to pizzas to steaks and other mains. The service was outstanding, from all members of staff. We came for the two nights we were staying in the area and both nights we were looked after, even to the point where we were originally placed next to a larger table and party of guests, realising there were only 2 of us, the staff moved us to a quieter area. Fantastic value for money. We would highly recommend and look forward to coming again. Thank you
Nice inside and friendly staff. We had Sunday roast which was nice, but way to much food in my opinion. I had chicken, hubby had the beef which he wasn't keen on
So if your passing and just want a reasonable meal than you won't go wrong.
Good afternoon. We really enjoyed this establishment. Let's start with the fact that despite the workload of the premises, we were placed (11 people). Also, despite the late time (8 pm), the chefs agreed to cook a lot of dishes. I really liked the service of the staff. The bartender in a cap with a pink bow was hospitable and gave a try of almost all types of beer, so we were able to choose Buzzy with raspberry syrup for the wife and the well-known local IPA with a dense taste. We took lamb and mashed potatoes, as well as sebas with vegetables. Very tasty and generous. All 9 friends took different dishes and were very satisfied! Thank you, we will come to you again.)
I am sure this place is fantastic inside but at the time of my visit, it was closed during to refurbishment. I would be looking forward to visiting this establishment once it reopens its doors.
Situated next to the busy A6 on the edge of the historical town of Belper. It would be a great place to stay and visit the many historical sights in the area.
