Good food good service would recommend to anyone who asked for advent place for receptions or just a snack
Fabulous stop off for lunch. Sat in the Courtyard. Delicious food, friendly, professional and efficient staff. Lovely place all round. Very impressed. Will definitely be back.
Had the most gorgeous gluten free afternoon tea today. Staff were incredibly helpful and food was lovely! Thanks, will definitely be back! :D
Stayed the night with the whole family four rooms in total, what a fabulous place. Great drinks and food selection, spotlessly clean but the best thing of all was the staff, all very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We are already planning our next visit...... THANKYOU!!!
Lovely meal ..portion sizes are amazing x lovely friendly staff x
Fantastic food and great ambiance. Slight delays with cocktails, over all 5 star! Can’t wait to go again
My husband and I called in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. We were seated in the pizza room which was empty, so nice and quiet. From the menu we chose the fish platter to share and had a side of chips. The food was served quickly and was piping hot. The service was very good and the staff were attentive ensuring we were happy with our meal.
The food was delicious here. I had the chicken shwarma, which was flavourful and was quite a big portion. The caramel brownie was very decadent and rich. Our waitress was lovely and attentive. It's a well priced pub in a nice setting.
It's 3 star hotel, but i want to say, then service is on 5 stars. Room and bathroom was clean, didn't see dusts around. We are stay on 2 nights, but second day bed, bathroom was hand up around and coffee, tea, sugar and cookies was top up. Bed was comfortable for sleeping. Breakfast and later dinner was delicious. Pub working to 1am in the morning. They're wrote in your e-mail then they have a busy place to the late in evening, but for us that didn't was a problem, because we went to sleep after midnight and then soon stay quiet. Staff is friendly and helpful 💯👍 I recommend this place and if I'll travel around that area and will need to hotel, I'll choose again this one.
Called in for some lunch and we had roast beef baguette with roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and gravy. It was excellent value for money at £8.50 was really nice. We sat in the courtyard in the sun which was also nice and relaxing with a beer in the sun. All 3 of the crook's family pub's are really well run and offer good food at really good prices. Would recommend to all.
A superb Sunday Roast (roast pork), in the very pleasant courtyard. Tasty food, & good portions. Value-for-money. Nice & relaxed. Friendly service, too. Will certainly visit again the next time we're in Belper.
When a couple of times middle of may for a drink and a bite to eat. Was very nice and sat in the court yard. Food was nice and staff helpful and friendly. We took our dogs in no probs. Thinking of booking a few nights stay but not sure if you can book a room with a dog. Would highly recommend.
Brilliant, just a shame there isn't more seating in the bar area! Lovely upmarket pub with a wonderful atmosphere! Thank you for the lovely service!
We stayed for 3 days as we were attending a wedding at Shottle Hall and thoroughly enjoyed our stay
The service was excellent and staff were very friendly. The rooms, if a little tired in places, are clean and very comfortable. In particular the bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in.
Downstairs the pub is lively and serves good food.
There is plenty of free parking.
All in all I would thoroughly recommend staying here.
Recently stayed in a twin room whilst attending a wake. The room was a good size and nice + clean. Can't really comment on how comfortable the beds were as I can't actually remember going to bed!!
Breakfast was lovely ( but was an extra charge for a fry up).
Would definitely stay again if I'm in the area.
Went in for breakfast about nine o clock and was lucky enough to be able to get a pint with a fantastic full English quality bacon and sausage no cheap ingredients it was delicious staff are polite and professional we will definitely going back.
Stayed here for a romantic stay, lovely and welcoming staff on arrival.
Secure parking available.
Wonderful quiet room, which was tastefully decorated, clean, tidy and comfortable to stay.
Tasty continental breakfast, and good selection of hot beverages on offer.
Definitely worth a stay, we look forward to staying here again.
Easy access to exploring Belper with it's array of different shops to mooch around.
I'd recommend staying here.
Thank you.
Building is quite old and shows its age in some places, but it is very clean. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Free secure parking on site is good. Cooked breakfast was very good, roast Sunday dinner was huge and very nice indeed. Our room was accessible via a spiral staircase, which was a challenge when carrying all our luggage (no lift). If this is no good for you, you should avoid rooms 22 and 23.
Location is great to use as a base for exploring Belper.
We stayed at the Lion Hotel over night on Saturday to attend a local wedding. The room although slighted dated was spotless, we had a lovely view . The staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Secure parking amazing food especially the bread . The only little niggles I had were the door from the car park to reception was really grubby and smokers did tend to congrigate by that door,my initial thought was OMG where have we come but once inside that thought disappeared. A designated smoking area and a clean door would really make a difference to first impressions. We would definitely stay again, surrounded by history, beautiful.
