Lovely country pub serving several casked and kegged ales. Some of which are changing guests. Really nice character and ambience inside the pub. Serves food. Cold and warm bar snacks available . Open for lunch and dinner. Pub has several rooms and snugs. Only drawback is the limited parking as the old car park is now used for outside seating. This may change in the winter months, I don’t know. You have to find a space on a very narrow road which isn’t ideal. Apart from that it’s highly recommended . Helpful staff and Dog friendly. 🍻 🥘 🐕

I am not lying when I say this was THE BEST Pub I have been able to visit In my Life!!!! The design and atmosphere was amazing, even The people (Both guests and Staff) were friendly!!!! An amazing range of Gluten Free (most of The Menu could be made without gluten) and Vegan/Vegetarian options I have to say I would not give It any less than 5 Stars.

Exactly what a pub should be. Beautiful traditional decor - which shows it is definitely a pub (not gastro nonsense). Friendly staff, great atmosphere and a bonus of a range of vegan options for food! Our food was delicious and will definitely be returning. If I could give more stars I would. 🌟

Lovely old pub, excellent bar snacks and huge pies. Reasonably priced lunch menu, extensive drinks range and pedigree poured from the jug. Super friendly and helpful barmaid.

What a beautiful traditional English Inn, it was cosy with a lovely fire, wide range of ales and gorgeous cheese plates. I hugely enjoyed the charcoal cheese and even bought an extra slice to take home with me! We were staying at Makeney Hall and the Inn is conveniently located only a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Thank you, we had a lovely time! 👌❤️

One of the best pubs I've ever been to in the British Isles. Pub nirvana? Must be close. 3 fires crackling, cosiest interior and tasteful extension, busy hubbub even on a Monday. Great pub grub that is customer not corporate focused. Great beer selection for a rural pub. This may be... Nearly.. the best pub we've visited in England.

If you want to know what good country pubs used to be like, the Holly Bush is the place. Situated in a tiny village on the side of a valley above the River Derwent, the stone-built Inn's layout survives intact, a maze of rooms with open fires and even a cosy snug. Outside there's a covered yard and open seating area complete with a real sand beach! The friendliest of welcomes awaits and the choice of beers is extensive. Marstons Pedigree was my pick, expertly poured from a jug fetched from the cellar, just like they've always done. Locally sourced pork pies feature on the menu of tempting dishes. Outstanding, I wish it was my local!

Brilliant pub at about as traditional as pubs get. Fantastic little bar room with huge selection of fantastic ales, bitters and ciders. Simple and cosy classic snug room, plus dining room. Conservatory room with loads of seating plus it's own serving hatch through to the main bar. And finally a generous beer garden area, with seating for 100 plus folk. This place is always popular and for a good reason. Simply put, it's great, and it's real, in a world where most modern bars just feel.... fake. Try it, you'll love it

Just stopped in for a quick drink after a hike so didn't get time to try the food, but it looked amazing. The place is lovely, staff amazing and drinks great. Will definitely pop in again if I'm in the area!

We didn't have any food, but the beer is in brilliant condition (some brews are served from a gallon jug brought by hand from the cellar). The pub feels old, eccentric and has a great atmosphere. I've been an occasional customer for 45 years and it's just as good as ever. The Holly Bush, Makeney, is a very special place.
