An easy "5". The best food we've had for a long time in Belfast. It was very good in the past but the combo of snails and Boeuf Bourguignon followed by crème brûlée was sensational. My wife especially liked her starter of tuna rillette and the medley of ice-cream. We will be back.
PS bring your own wine - corkage is charged at £2.50.
Great bohemian air about this place from the decor to the patrons. The food is very tasty, serving fresh local seasonal produce with a French twist. The best beef in the area. Also, have a chat with the owner, she is great. BYO alcoholic drinks, there are plenty of places to buy in walking distance.
Brilliant service and great authentic french food, best meal out in a long time.

They have a slightly larger menu than the last time we were there. I was there with 2 friends and we all had starters and main courses. No complaints about any of it. In fact I would say it's the best meals we have had in the place. We catch up every 6 months or so and go here as we never feel rushed or made to feel we have to go as soon as food is finished. The wee waitress who served us was lovely. Will be back again
I highly recommend this restaurant, it's very quaint and has a genuine European charm that I have yet to find elsewhere in Belfast.
Upon first glance there isn't a wide selection on the menu, however the servings are generous and the food itself is delicious; it seems as though care is put towards the preparation. I recommend the salmon or swordfish with a side of vegetables.
Prices are surprisingly low considering the quality of the food and the serving amount. The European staff are very friendly and also laid back, welcoming conversation with customers.
Complementary bread is a nice touch.
The bring your own wine policy is a plus, as is the fact that there is an off-licence and cash machine 2 doors down.
To conclude, this is a restaurant that is perfect for romantic couples as well as groups of friends or families. You can have a really pleasant evening here with great food and a good atmosphere and some wine. There's also the option of heading to one of the bars across the street after, making the location extremely accessible for nights out.
Give it a chance and you'll be coming back for more ...like me!
Traditional French cuisine which is absolutely delicious. We went on a Friday evening and the atmosphere was lovely and relaxed. I had the French Onion Soup to start and it was so good. Followed by Goats Cheese Tarte and lots of vegetables. My friend had the fish and all of it was stunning. The staff are incredible, knowledgable and very helpful. Can't wait to go back.
Visited Etoile last night with my husband. It was his birthday and his dessert was derived with a pretty candle. The food was amazing. I would recommend going here for a meal. The only downside was a very loud vocal lady at a table across from us. Cannot blame the restaurant for that. Just lived the authentic look of the place. Thank you for a lovely evening.
Opened again after lockdown the menu item slightly reduced but the food is as good as ever.
The tables are spaced apart, the staff wear visors and there is hand sanitizer on the table so the atmosphere is a bit subdued - maybe as of you are one of the early diners
The two of us had French onion soup/garlic bread for starters. Main courses were spinach lasagne/fish with ratatouille. Both very good. Dessert was trio of ice cream.
L'etoile is a proper restaurant, not a chain, and to be honest not 'fancy' but the food is tasty, the staff are lovely and the ambiance is welcoming
Beautiful meal and setting for the parents to finally meet my partners parents. Thanks for making it so special. Beef bourguignon went so well with the Merlot id brought too. Highly recommend!
It's a 5* restaurant at a very fair price. Hands down some of the most delicious food in Belfast and a brave menu, full of interesting dishes. A lovely atmosphere to relax in - the critics need to calm themselves down a bit. BYO too adds extra value as you get Starter & Dessert & Winemark (next door) wine for the same price as a bottle of wine in a serving restaurant! You won't be disappointed!
An institution on Belfast's ormeau road. Nice atmosphere , always a warm welcome from Doro and her team.
We went on Saturday 4th july for our first meal in a restaurant since the lockdown. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Felt 100% safe. Doro is very covid conscious and has thought of absolutely everything but without sacrificing the letoile ambience. Great food. Good value and it is BYO. Book a table and support our local businesses.
An absolute gem hidden away on the Ormeau Rd. Small, but cosy and extremely welcoming. A real hideaway from the outside world. Staff are friendly, courteous and efficient. The menu while small, offers you great quality food cooked to perfection! I highly recommend it to anyone who is sneaking out for a quiet, cosy meal with friends or loved ones. Five stars all day long.
