You need to make a reservation for dinner here. We were very lucky to be fit in last minute..
Every dish we had here was spot on. The dough balls with fresh pesto and olive tapenade - the dough balls were soft, light and fluffy just a bit more bite than marshmallows. Pesto is the best pesto I've ever had, bright green, fresh full of flavour.
The mains were carbonara and creamy chicken. Both were unreal. Carbonara was generous with meat and sauce, and the pasta was perfect. creamy chicken sauce had truffle and lemon, and generous chicken portion.
Interior is gorgeous with lovely light and bright choices and pretty fairy lights. Friend said the wine was excellent too.
Highly recommend
Chubby Cherub was a very enjoyable surprise. We walked past it whilst we were doing a food tour during the morning, early afternoon and my girlfriend loved the outside decoration. In the evening trying to decide where to go for dinner we decided to reserve a table here.
The decoration inside is even better than outside, the service was excellent throughout the night and the food was very very good. The only comment on the food, was the excessive use of rocket to decorate, every single dish that was coming out of the kitchen. Chefs, always to tend a fall back, I know I am one, and this one was rocket. In certain dishes it doesn't make a difference or accentuates the dish, but in others it detracts from the actual dish. But, rocket aside, Chubby Cherub really deserves a visit to enjoy everything as it is really good!
A rare gem that makes one feel as if they have been transported to Italy.
We visited the Chubby Cherub on a trip to Belfast because it had a good mix of meat, vegetarian, and vegan options. We were pleasantly surprised to find that beyond that, the food was fresh, flavorful, and fabulous.
The decor and music instantly whisks you away to an outdoor cafe in Italy. The drinks menu is hardbound and is full of cocktail recipes, and yes, you can purchase it and take it home.
I started with the dough balls that had both a mushroom truffle and a fresh pesto dip. It was a perfect appetizer with ample portions of each element of the dish.
I moved on to the pork gnocchi in a pea, carrot and mushroom cream. With a small grind of pepper this dish was absolute perfection. The pork medallions were perfectly prepared, and the handmade gnocchi in the cream made my tastebuds burst with happiness and a perfect mouth feel.
My colleagues thoroughly enjoyed their dishes as well.
To finish we had the mini tiramisu with coffees, and one of my colleagues had the peaches and cream. The tiramisu had a tough of cherry throughout which added a bit of cherry tartness to the dessert. My colleague's peach dessert looked incredible, with cooked peaches, caramelized just a bit, with a bit of chocolate and cream.
We sat by the window and saw many people peer at the menu, and we were silently hoping they would come in and try the wonderful experience we had.
I highly recommend this beautiful restaurant when you visit Belfast.
