The food was splendid and represented the culture of Ireland perfectly. It had a great ambiance and was in a nice neighbourhood. Our waiters were pleasant and polite. The menu had a wide variety of food. If I come back to Ireland, I would definitely come back here! đ
Fabulous. Everyone was over the moon with this meal. First thing that you must know is that apparently there are no bad restaurants in Belfast. This is a foodie city for sure. The bartender started by looking at each person and guessing their drink of choice (he was pretty close) and the Russian bartender was hilarious âthat cider is dry like my soulâ the team work for wait staff was fairly flawless. The bar selection was great. The food was outstanding â fresh, delicious and in some cases very original. Our friend  ordered a hamburger that was bigger than her face and that she will be digesting for the next 3 days that she devoured (âI donât care if Iâm full Iâm going to finish this âcause itâs crazy good.â They have an extensive vegetarian menu (I donât remember if they labeled gluten free items). The restaurant is set in an old house, it can get quite nosey but never looses itâs charm.
Fine place to eat. The Barking Dog is on the Malone Road near the Bot, but is quite a different kind of establishment. It is really one of Belfast's quality restaurants. It is usually busy (a reservation is a good idea), and gets a lot of young people. The chatter level is sometimes a bit intense. The food is really excellent, very well prepared and tasty. I recently had a lamb shank special that was terrific. The chocolate torte dessert is delicious. The wines are good, and the bar has a very good selection of drinks. The service is attentive. The prices might be just a bit high, but the quality is there. I go there regularly when I am in Belfast.
Excellent atmosphere. Excellent food. A bit over priced but not by much. The host could be a bit more warm and less military.
The food here is simply other worldly. Two of us had steaks that were wonderfully cooked to medium rare perfection. And I mean perfect. We all talked about how the food, wine, was at another level..
The word 'burger' undersold the quality of the shin beef others enjoyed..I would get on a manchester _ belfast flight just to eat at this place.
Bit odd that we turned up at 12 noon for our 12.45 booking and were asked to come back later...but hey ho. All good by 1pm.

The food is amazing, it's my favourite restaurant in Belfast. The sweet potato gnocchi with smoked chicken are amazing, and the same can be said for the sweet potato ravioli (unfortunately only at lunch). The chicken supreme and the sirloin steak are also very good. Among the desserts the apple tart tatin is delicious and the espresso crÚme brulée is very good. The peanut butter brownie is ok but could be better and surely is not worth the 7.25GBP you pay for it. Unfortunately the menu is always the same with slightly seasonal variations. As an aficionada I'd like to find my favourite dishes together with new ones.
On a less pleasant note, I found the portions incredibly smaller: 10 gnocchi as a main is absolutely ridiculous. Having ordered a main and a dessert, we have left still hungry. The bill was extremely pricey: more than 17 pounds for the main with 10 gnocchi and over 7 pound for the dessert ( a slice of brownie and a scoop of ice cream, not a patisserie masterpiece!). We were a bit perplexed
I booked The Barking Dog for my anniversary dinner with my husband. Booking a table was super easy and I was able to add in the comments that I needed their gluten free menu. When I arrived, the gluten free menu was there waiting on me, no awkwardness at all! This proved to me that the staff in the Barking Dog read the comments sent in with booking, unlike other restaurants I've been to in Belfast. The staff were amazing the whole night, very attentive and had a laugh with us. The food was outstanding, I cannot recommend it highly enough. From tapas starter, to dessert, everything was perfect. Gorgeous atmosphere to top it all off. 10/10 highly recommend.
What a gem , what a fab restaurant- great service, great staff and fantastic food. I have eaten in many Michelin star restaurants and this could be ranked at that level. The food was exceptional! Good choice of drinks and pleasant atmosphere, would definitely recommend when in Belfast.
Excellent food and good service. Very busy Friday night venue. Staff are very friendly and helpful and can't do enough for you. Lovely cocktail list for a pre-dinner drink, good selection of wine. Shin of Beef Burger was something else, highly recommend it. Desserts were outstanding too. Very good value for money give the quality of food.

Food was amazing, service was great. They also have a great menu for vegetarians and the menu comes with an ingredients chart for all us allergy sufferers... and the cocktails were amazing
Food mixed quality (absolutely delicious sweet potato gnocchi inc lovely chicken strips in sauce; very tasty gluten-free fish pie; nice burger & chicken satay; but goats cheese was cold, & both chips & scampi were oily & soggy).
Specific gluten-free menu for those who need it, which is great.
Friendly staff.
Very noisy at night (no soft furnishings to absorb background noise), so not ideal for those with hearing difficulties. & there don't seem to be any quiet corners if you want a romantic evening.
Food and service here was delicious. For 2 people we split 3 of the tapas, 2 starters and 1 main dish and it was perfect. The chicken dish was incredible.

Amazing lunch from the Barking Dog. I had the chicken pie and mum had the best fish pie of her life. Staff super helpful and friendly. Definitely recommend for anyone's in Belfast.
Always love coming to this place for food & cocktails! People are friendly and the food is delicious. Also highly recommend their super yummy steak tartare as you won't be able to find this dish that easily in Northern Ireland.

So sooooo good! Maybe the best meal I had in years. Tapas for starters, chicken supreme for main & peanut brownie for dessert, all with a strawberry daq yummyyy
We've been here a few times now for both lunch and dinner with a baby and the service and food has been exceptional. They have an extensive menu and a separate one for vegetarians with good choice on both. Great cocktails too with lovely bar staff! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a nice meal near the Botanic Gardens.
We went to the barking dog for lunch today and had tables booked, to be sure everyone finds space, as it was a group of 16 people. We were seated by the lovely staff and quickly ordered. For groups of over ten (10) people they offer a different menu, and everybody found something they liked. It was £31 per person for a two-course meal or £36 for three courses. I had the burger with chunky fries which I very much enjoyed. Two of our group had the soup of the day (tomato soup with bread and butter) and we all had a good main dish. There are vegan, vegetarian options and gluten free options available too. The portions are a good size, and a main dish is actually enough to fill you up. They have a good dessert variety, from CrÚme Brûlée over some sorts of ice cream and sorbet, also brownies and vegan brownies with sorbet and fruit (vegan dessert option). The staff was very friendly and helpful. Thanks a lot for the nice experience and the lovely food!
Everything about this gem is gorgeous! From the location, to the restaurant itself, to the fantastic service and most importantly the food... oh my... it's just delicious!!! Always a real treat to go here.
