Went here for my birthday with my boyfriend and the food was absolutely delicious and the staff was amazing, he went above and beyond for us to enjoy our time. My boyfriend mentioned in passing that it was my birthday and when our dessert arrived there was a candle and they played happy birthday on the speakers. We will definitely come back again. Thank you so much for making my birthday special!

This restaurant may not be ultra swish looking, but my god, the food is fresh and superbly prepared. We had ginger and prawn risotto, chowder, duck & sea bream ....want to know why there are no food pics? It was simply too good to stop eating. The staff were VERY attentive and friendly. Go before the chef and staff get poached!

Wow! A small restaurant with great service and fantastic food. I went with my mum and she had monkfish and was boasting she had the better choice of dish. I had the beef shoulder and that was beautiful! I am so glad we called at the last minute and got a table.

This is a very nice resteraunt with a little bit higher class than most places in the area. Menu is smaller but has lots of great options. Between our group we tried most of the items and everyone enjoyed the food. The apps and dessert were also fantastic. The owner is very attentive and super friendly when connecting with all of the patrons. Would highly recommend as a cut above the area.

Sometimes good things do come in small packages and this certainly is the case for The Lantern! The service was efficient and the food really good and had a good dining experience. Nice small menu which is always a good sign and reasonably priced, considering it’s in the middle of the main Belfast tourist area. All bottled beer (canned if it’s Guinness and reasonably priced wine list. Would certainly recommend.

Everything was fantastic! So delicious and friendly. We loved everything... seafood linguine, sea bass, slow cooked beef. Wine was decent priced and great.

Excellent service. Unreal food. Chatty staff. Went after a matinee show in the opera house and it was so close for walking. Music was at a good level that you couldn't hear the conversations at other tables and still hear yourselves! All of us ordered different food from the lre theatre. Squid was beautiful. As was the soup of the day. Mains were to die for!

Booked online and got a nice friendly confirmation phone call. Very convenient to the City Hall and main shopping areas. Place was very busy, people laughing and in good cheer. Welcomed and seated by lovely staff. Service was excellent, food and drinks delivered quickly and efficiently. Had spring rolls as starter and the beef for dinner was exceptional, so tasty. Had a really good dining experience here, and when back in Belfast next, will certainly be calling again!

The atmosphere was so beautiful, calming and welcoming. The music playing was subtle and nice to have while eating. The man who was serving us, the owner I believe was a true gentleman. The food was really lovely, my partner absolutely loved his duck. A really nice restaurant in the heart of Belfast!

My wife and I were traveling to NI from the US and stopped in Belfast for a couple nights. The Lantern was great. The service was very friendly and comfortable. We had the salmon and supreme chicken, both delicious and cooked to perfection. Weren’t rushed to finish our food or wine. And we finished off with the creme brûlée. Five stars!

Service was phenomenal. The waiter was kind curiosity and entertaining through the whole meal. The food is stellar you will not stop eating the food even when your about to burst from the seams. They also did a great job catering to my allergies which I deeply appreciate as having an egg allergy can be very disheartening at restaurants.

We came for dinner, had a 3 course meal. For starters , we had chowder and squid, both extremely good! My husband had the steak for main, he loved it. My risoto was good, however, I could over taste the stock in it. For desert, I had a Delicious moist brownie ( very sweet) and my husband had the sticky toffee pudding, a bit too sweet for my taste. Great roast coffee and wine. Overall , a great place to go.

Wonderful smiles to greet us and knew that meant a great meal was ahead! The soups were fabulous and accompanied by glorious toasted bread. Sweet potato and coriander and leek and potato. Lush! Vegetable patties really tasty and portion sizes were ideal. Steaks cooked to perfection with chunky chips and onion rings as perfect partner. All rounded off with sumptuous dessert. Absolute joy.

We had searched for a restaurant and couldn't seem to find one with an appealling menu and good reviews until we found The Lantern. This choice turned out to be a very good one. From the minute we walked in until we left the service was incredible - very friendly staff. The food was fantastic. If you are in Belfast you must put this on your list of great places to eat.

I didn't make a dinner reservation ahead of time and the restaurant was kind enough to save a table for my husband and me as we walked over from our hotel. He had the duck and I had the sea bass, both of which were so delicious that I forgot to take pics. And the service was outstanding. If we were staying longer in Belfast, we would definitely go again!
