A Riotously Delicious Paella Extravaganza!
Oh, dear paella enthusiasts, prepare yourselves for a mind-boggling, taste bud-tickling adventure that will leave you wondering whether you've just stumbled upon a magical culinary wonderland! Behold, for I have had the privilege of devouring the most tantalizing, belly-rumbling, and knee-weakening paella of my existence.
As I embarked on this culinary quest, my expectations soared higher than a flock of flamenco-dancing seagulls. The first glimpse of this illustrious dish sent my heart into a flamenco frenzy, beating to the rhythm of saffron-infused harmonies. The vibrant colors painted a picture so lively, it whispered, "Señor/Senorita, your taste buds are in for a rollercoaster ride of ecstasy!"
With great excitement, I took my first spoonful, and the symphony began. The rice, a canvas of flavor, played host to a medley of succulent treasures. Each grain soaked up the savory broth like a sponge, rendering it an irresistible magnet for my eager fork. Tender, perfectly cooked seafood mingled with chorizo slices so divine, I swear they were blessed by paella pixies themselves. And the vegetables! Oh, the vegetables! They danced on my palate, adding a touch of freshness that sent me twirling in gustatory delight.
But let's not forget the pièce de résistance—those blessed saffron strands! They lent their golden essence to every morsel, turning each bite into a taste explosion that would make fireworks blush with envy. It was as if the paella had received a secret memo from the flavor gods, commanding it to unleash a symphony of tastes that tickled my senses and left me craving more.
In the presence of this divine paella, time took a backseat, and I was blissfully suspended in an eternal moment of gustatory nirvana. With each bite, I found myself contemplating the meaning of life, questioning why this delectable dish hadn't yet been declared the eighth wonder of the world.
So, my fellow gastronomic adventurers, if you seek a culinary experience that will transcend the boundaries of ordinary existence and catapult you into a realm of pure unadulterated joy, then brace yourselves for this paella extravaganza. Be prepared to surrender your taste buds to a frenzy of flavors, and bid farewell to all notions of restraint. For once you've tasted this paella, your palate will forever yearn for that moment of divine communion.
Remember, my friends, life is too short for mediocre meals. Embrace the glorious paella journey, and let your taste buds rejoice in the glory that is this magnificent creation. Viva la paella! Viva el sabor!

Food is really nice, it's quite pricey but worth it. Didn't get given salt and at first we didn't have cutlery. Portions of sides and starters are huge.
Lovely meal. Recommend the paella. Beautiful old pub. Nice atmosphere. Ample car parking service was very good As we arrived early for our booked table our starters we re slow to appear due to the kitchen being extremely busy. However i take this as a recommendation because so many people were there. I will definitely return.
Visited on a Sunday afternoon for a birthday meal we all had a Sunday roast which was delicious, good customer service from the young girl serving also has a large garden at the rear and carpark. Was my first time here and will definitely visit again.
I booked a table yesterday to have dinner with my wife and the experience was excellent from the beginning to the end. We were advised about a new comer to the menu, a 21oz steak you only have to look at the photos to fall in love with. We had a superbly chosen partner, a bottle of a beautiful Italian wine, another recommendation. We couldn't help but to ask for a second one. I would like to thank all the members of the Horse and Groom team for making us feel so welcomed. You'll see us back soon.
Agatha and David's Spanish Tapas is excellent and never disappoints.
If you enjoy Spanish tapas and hearty rustic food then I highly recommend you try the Horse and Groom. There was 11 for dinner of us, 8 adults and 3 children. We all had a selection of starters from the tapas menu, as usual this did not disappointed. The steamed mussels in white wine and Spanish green sauce were perfectly cooked and particularly moreish, having some hearty rustic bread to dip into the sauce just made it all the more authentic. If your a fan of seafood then this is a must. Agatha and her her staff were very attentive and accomadating ensuring we all had a pleasant experience. Each main course was excellent and could not be faulted in any way. I shared a seafood paella with my sister which was excellent, full of mussels, clams, squid and prawns. The paella rice was flavoursome, creamy and still had a slight bite to it, it also had a thin layer of toasted, slightly caramelized rice on the bottom of the pan called the socarrat which added to the flavour. 10 out of 10 to you Agatha, and your staff another excellent meal. I feel its quite rare to go out for dinner In such a large group and for every element of our meal experience not to be faulted. Can't wait to return.
Our first time coming here left a very good impression. The service was friendly and welcoming, the dining area was comfortable and had a more intimate feel to it. The food was delicious and the service was faultless. We'll definitely be coming back here again.
Fantastic tapas and best Sunday roast for years. In between eating a day on the river was just the best. Lovely friendly staff
Really good country pub with great food and beer.
Had one of the best meals we’ve had out in a very long time. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful, friendly and kind. Athena especially! Thank you so much . The paella was amazing .
Recipe: Just add good weather and enjoy.
Order your choice of classic English pub grub and then head on outside barely even stopping to admire the type of oldy-worldy building that many Americans would tourist to on its own, and pick your table as far down towards the little stream as you want - it's all part of the pub and it's all part of the food service area. Just remember to tip your wait staff! I'm sure they are used to it: the further you go, the further away you are from the din of what brought you hear, the busy road which at this location is that particularly English delight, the residential and retail narrow street that is also thunderously noisy and HGV-pummelled as would merit an 8-lane freeway in the US.
Staff were great from start to finish. Food was delicious and plentiful, and a good selection of drinks to wash it down with. Would 100% recommend, and will be returning the next time I'm in the area
Lovely pub, great food at a reasonable price and friendly staff. They always make dogs welcome with free treats at the bar and lots of fuss from the staff, they even put up with our grumpy dog who doesn't like people or other dogs!
We had lunch today, it was lovely, can recommend the pizza! Staff are all lovely, thank you for the hospitality, will definitely be back soon.
I was in a party of four and all said they enjoyed their meal. The staff were pleasant and attentive. All in all a great time.
