We had a lovely 2course meal for seniors for £7.99 excellent choice of menu and very well cooked and hot.Very friendly staff.Pnly downside please remember to get a parking permit if you park on the road outside the San ,we got a parking fine.Will remember next time

Now we are all over 60 we sampled the two course special for £6.75. Exceptional value for money, great food, great service and a great pub.
Great wee place. Made us feel very welcome when we stayed here. Good food, beer and most of all hospitality.
Went in for a quick bite to eat, no reservation just walk in and sit down. We had 2 burgers and 4 non alcoholic drinks between 2 of us and spent £45 roughly. Not too crazy in my opinion, considering the burgers were the best burgers I've ever tried before! Only been re opened about 6 weeks and its gorgeous. Lovely service from the staff, incredible food and quick service, only 20 mins from ordering to eating.
Popped in on a Friday lunchtime for a bite to eat. The food was just good, honest pub grub - the Swiss burger was lovely and my son loved his fish and chips. The chap working there was very friendly and helpful too.

Just re-opened - October 23:Traditional English pub selling a solid range of beers, some local as well as other drinks. Also serves food during the day and early evening. Seems to be closing early ish on an evening some nights but nice to see it open - hopefully new owners can make it successful again and locals support it - it’s great to have choice again.
Was closed last time I was here, glad to see it as reopened..staff really friendly, didn't eat but heard lots of nice complaints

We were lucky to find comfy seats next to the log burner fire so warm and cosy. The perfect place to be as it was cold outside. We were playing cards and the locals were friendly, asking questions about what we were playing. I had gravy & chips as all I wanted was something light, it was only £2.95 and they tasted lovely. We have eaten here before and the food was delicious with reasonable prices.
We thought we were very lucky to find somewhere to eat at 4.30pm on a Sunday. Most places have stopped cooking by this time. We had Sunday pork dinners and they were excellent. It may be unpretentious food but it was delicious and the service was great. Well done Old Black Swan staff!
Very friendly and helpful staff. Relaxed atmosphere, excellent real ale, a good selection of other beers, wines and spirits. A selection of coffee is also available. Since lockdown have only been serving their excellent Sunday lunches but hope to be back serving the pre-lockdown daily menu in the near future.

Quite a few pubs in the main street through Bedale as we looked for somewhere to eat and was dog friendly. Anyway we had a great meal at a great price and very helpful and genuine staff. Inside was very clean everywhere. Main meals mainly around £10 with a steak 🥩 around £15... Desserts £4.95... Excellent roast we had with 3 veg. No complaints at all.
Great Sunday dinner for £10.
First time here. From the moment we set foot inside the service was excellent. The place has a friendly atmosphere untouched by any negative aspects of the 21st century. The food was spot on in presentation, taste & quantity.
We wouldn't hesitate to come here again next time we're passing.
