Service was impeccable! We couldn’t put up with the queue for Betty’s in Harrogate so we come to RHS Harlow Carr instead. Nice shop to mooch around. We just had tea and cheesecake and a soup. The service is good standard! And they really silverware for serving tea. The view outside is not bad as well. We didn’t book. We just popped in. All good.

Such a pleasant surprise to find a Betty's at the RHS site. So accommodating to pull together a table for 8 over bank holiday. Lovely tasty food (and delicious cakes to take away too). I opted for the Wensleydale Quiche of the day today but was tempted afternoon tea...Staff friendly and talkative. Will definitely return!

Fantastic experience. Yes we had to wait to be seated, but it was so worth it. I must mention Sue and Lucia, as they were amazing, a great credit to the business. It was my wife’s birthday, and several staff members wished her happy birthday and presented her with a small cake with a candle, off their own back which was such a lovely touch. We had tea for 2, full English and eggs florentine, oh and had space for Yorkshire curd tart and fruit tart. I will definitely return. It was meant to be a treat, and turned out even better than expected.

A truly wonderful place to come for morning tea or lunch. There is an amazing range of cakes, drinks as well as lunch stuff. The service is very good and the cakes are delicious! The hot chocolate is one of the nicest I've tasted. Can be a que at busy times.

Fantastic array of cakes, macarons in shop. Bit of a wait for restaurant 20-30 mins. Not expected on a Monday but free entry for NHS? Brollies handed out to queue. Love a clean table! Had rosti bacon cheese - had on last visit. Salmon sandwich & chips. Served ketchup & mayo. Drinks brought, pimms! Then kindly returned to take our food order. Lovely toilets. Visit.

Wherever we go to get into Betty’s there is always a queue. There’s a reason why it’s so popular. It’s so good. The service is excellent and the taste and quality of every dish I’ve ever tried does not disappoint. Yes you pay for this excellence, but worth every penny.

I’d heard a lot about Betty’s and always saw people queuing to get in. It’s not my thing to follow the crowd but we had to try it. So we went today. We ordered afternoon tea, coffee, hot chocolate, kedgeree and a rosti between 3. Portion sizes were good and the flavours were incredible. Genuinely incredible, full of flavour. When the afternoon tea arrived, I was disappointed by the small portion size (for £30 I expected more). But the flavours were incredible: the nicest afternoon tea I’ve had to date. The service was first class. The friendliness, helpfulness and decency of the staff was a joy to experience (they made a call to their York branch on our behalf and took time to answer my questions about the elusive Betty). I’m a Betty’s convert now. I can’t recommend highly enough. Although I would like more sandwiches and another scone with my afternoon tea…

Always a wonderful experience at Betty's. First time visiting this location, queued for about 50 minutes which went by quickly surrounded by lovely gardens. Unfortunately we were seated next to a table with extremely bad behaved kids, our waitress allowed us to move and seated us outside with a lovely view. The warm Fat Rascal is a must, coffee is always absolutely delicious and the Caesar Salad is wonderful. A waitress came round asking if we wanted anything from the shop, she packaged it beautifully and we paid at the table.

Lovely tea room in a beautiful setting. Service was polite and helpful. Cake and coffee was delicious. A little pricey, but a real treat. Would recommend.

It’s been a number of years since we’ve been to Betty’s at Harlow Carr! So we decided to make a change; rather than go to the York cafe (which we go frequently!), we’d come here instead! Once we parked in the car park, we made our way to a friendly lady who directed us to the queue to the entrance. She mentioned it would be 15 minutes wait. It didn’t bother us as the view of the gardens were beautiful! Once we got a table, we sat in awe of the view! It was by the window which had a beautiful view! We were greeted by a friendly waitress who took our drinks order. We perused the menu in the meantime! Normally, we have afternoon tea but we wanted to try the other dishes. The waitress came with our drinks and then took our lunch order! It didn’t take long before the food came. It was well presented and delicious. We were also given some chutney to compliment the meal! During our time, another waitress came and asked if we wanted to buy anything from the shop. She could take our order to save us queuing. We thought that was a great service and that she would bring us the goodies! We made room for desserts and picked the Brown bread ice cream sundaes! That didn’t disappoint! There were chunks of brown bread that tasted caramelised. The toffee sauce was delicious as were the pecans! The whipped cream was very light! We were full by then!! I would definitely recommend a trip here for breakfast/brunch/lunch/afternoon tea. You won’t be disappointed. The staff are friendly and efficient; and the atmosphere is perfect! Tables were safely spaced and we didn’t feel rushed!!

My favourite of all Betty's locations because of the stunning views over the RHS Gardens. Very fast food service on our recent weekday visit. We arrived just before 12.00 pm and were allocated a table within 5 minutes. Perfect timing as after that the queue for a table for the full menu (rather than the coffee shop) got pretty long. Really enjoyed the thick fresh milkshakes with our food. We find it reasonably priced for the quality of food (especially the large portion size of the haddock and chips) and friendly, efficient service. We'll be back soon for sure!

The quality of the pastries are second to none. Other food items are OK, but pastries outstanding. IF you aren't bothered about table service, better to buy your products in the shop (cheaper too than the restaurant) and take away to eat in the nearby gardens. Note queues for the restaurant are exceptionally long if school holidays / a nice sunny day from around midday to 3pm.

Excellent is the word for this place. Everything is done to a very high standard. I mean, what do you expect from a place that has done perfection for the past 100 years? The hot chocolate was the best I ever tasted in my life. The cappuccino was excellent. The pastries...OMG!

This is a *must visit* place in York or Harrogate. Such a high class ceremony. Every time we were spoiled with the taste and quality of their afternoon tea. 100 out of 100! If you are thinking to queue or not to queue for Bettys Cafe, please do not hesitate. Several minutes in a line and you are on the cloud number 9.
