Called in here at 12pm before a house viewing. Lady managing bar was very friendly. Great to see gluten free sandwiches and toasties on the menu, so nice to see pubs starting to cater for those with a gluten intolerance. When my gluten free toastie came, the chef had decided it looked very small and so had made an extra one for me, which was so lovely. We will definitely be back if we manage to secure the house we are viewing

What an amazing job Helen and her team have done in getting the doors back open and food service started again just in time for summer. Our country pubs need to be saved and not left to die on the vine so hopefully this is a massive success for many years to come.

A lovely place with the feel of tradition. Stayed here a couple of nights for work, a couple of things to be aware of, if this is your first visit. No food Monday's or Tuesdays, which means they will be closing at approx. 8:30pm. Breakfast is continental, and a relatively small selection. The room was certainly big enough, although no where to set up with a laptop unfortunately.

Had a superb family dinner from the grill menu on Friday evening. Great value for money @ only £35 for any 2 meals including a bottle of wine! The quality of the food was excellent! Highly recommended.

Came across this pub whilst trying to find a way round road blockage and decided to stop for lunch. Staff were very friendly and attentive, and everywhere was clean and tidy We were pleased to have passed on starters as we were served hefty portions of tender roast lamb, Yorkshire pudding, roast and mash potato, veg and lashings of gravy. Everything was cooked well and hot. The only improvement I would suggest is to serve gravy separately, as not everyone is a fan. Desserts were fairly standard offerings, our sticky toffee pudding was delicious, and again a large portion.

Fantastic room and short of nothing.. even cool air fan...fabulous food . Hosts were friendly and nothing too much trouble..Will stay again, at £40 for the one night we thought not up to much...but we were very pleasantly surprised ..this was an introduction price..Normally £60/£70 which would still be acceptable .oh and bed so comfortable beautiful white clean bedding...

We came across this lovely pub while cycling Hadrian's Wall cycle route. We had a fantastic Sunday lunch, roast lamb with all the trimmings in the sunny, sheltered beer garden with a babbling stream running through it. Service was very efficient and the staff very friendly.

This is a really good place to eat. The food was exceptional, every meal we had was good. Had fish and chips, more like whale and chips, beautiful. Nice village too.
