Highly recommend, friendly staff, quick service (even with it being a pretty busy Saturday lunchtime) and food was lush!!!! Highly recommend the Kent Hogg Sandwich! Will be back
We have just left the restaurant after an absolutely superb meal! It's my husband's birthday and being out all day, we weren't sure what time we would be eating so didn't book a table. On arriving at the oak on the green, the very lovely waitress found a way to get us seated, even though the pub was extremely busy! The food was amazing and the staff throughout were helpful and very friendly. One of my favourite places to eat- will definately be returning to sample more of the menu! Thank you!
Amazing place to eat and drink. The staff are lovely and the food is great. Definitely by far my favourite pub. We took my in laws there for lunch on weds and they walked away very impressed. Thank you for the great service Ian x
We visited yesterday for Mother’s Day, and even though it was packed the service was really good and the food first class.
We had the Steamer (a beef, mushroom and red wine suet pudding), scampi and chicken ranch burger, and all were great.
Would definitely return, but I might have something smaller so I can try a dessert too.
The staff were very attentive and the food was top notch. And exelent prices too. Would highly recommend it.
My daughter and I visited on Sunday....we had the delicious pork belly.....and a yummy cheeseburger. The service was excellent and the staff were super friendly. We’ve visited a fair few times and would definitely recommend it....superb, good value for money food!!
Lovely food , great staff ,good atmosphere well worth the half hour drive
Went for a meal today was excellent plenty to eat well worth the money staff helpful no complaints
Stopped for a drink on the way home from work on a few occasions recently (I blame the heat and traffic jams!) and always receive a lovely friendly welcome for ourselves and our dog! Haven’t eaten anything but a packet of crisps yet but are planning to dine this week as it always smells and looks divine!
Great place. Highly recommend the spicy duck rice bowl, it was the nicest dish I've eaten in a restaurant all year. The sticky toffee pudding was delish too. Lovely staff, reasonably priced. Would 100% recommend
Excellent food, great staff and great atmosphere,!
Took the Mrs here for her birthday. Arrived a bit early so had a drink at the bar whilst waiting for our table to be ready.
The blonde lady behind the bar was friendly whilst she served us.
We were then seated at our table, where we had:
Starter - Whitebait and kabab.
Mains - Porterhouse steak and another steak. Both cooked medium rare.
Dessert - Sticky toffee pudding.
Everything was cooked to perfection and tasted wonderful.
The steak just melted in our mouths.
The young lady with glasses who looked after us was friendly and attentive.
All in all, a lovely evening. Highly recommended.
PS, we went on a Tuesday evening and it was jam packed, so it's advisable to book in advance.
I love this restaurant. Went at around 6pm last night was there till gone 10pm, never felt rushed, was left alone to enjoy the evening. OK it was a Thurs, this might not happen on a Friday, Sat. Waitress was lovely, attentive and friendly. Food as always great. The only thing I would say is you need to address your non alcoholic options. I asked for a mocktail to be told you aren't that type of place. Not sure what that meant. You have a full A4 page of alcoholic cocktails though. Not everyone drinks. You're missing out on a massive market. I went to another restaurant a few months ago and they had tons of options. Would love to see you get with the times on this. Other than that, brilliant night x
It's a little out in the weeds but the trip is absolutely worth it. Gorgeous food in a wonderfully quaint setting, I definitely need to find an excuse to come here again.
Food was delicious. Especially the pork roll. Our waitress Becca was never still and she always had a smile. Only downside was tables were probably too close as sometimes we struggled to hear each other talk.
Excellent food, well presented, served by cheerful and obliging staff, a friendly manager, and preared by a caring chef. Thank you
The best place ever. The food served in this restaurant is exquisite and very fresh. Very delicious!😋😋😋❤
The ambiance is very calming, welcoming and romantic. 🥰🥰🥰
My family from Ecuador and USA and I were visiting Europe, on the day that we visited the "Oak on the Green" restaurant we had finished visiting the Dover castle, it was a very cold day and we drove to the town straight from Dover.
No restaurants were opened, and we were very hungry. We arrived to "Oak on the Green" just before they closed, we asked the manager if we could be served. He happily told us welcome! He made sure we got attended and the service was superb!
We will forever be grateful for that and we always recomend it to all our friends in USA and Ecuador. Thanks a lot Oak on the Green!
:)
Visited twice in February 2023 whilst visiting Bearsted. On both occasions (Monday and Friday) the quality of food and service was consistently excellent. A fantastically run village pub on the Green with a great atmosphere, a solid line up of Shepherd Neame Ales and first class hearty food.
If you're looking for a pub that serves decent quality pub food, this is worth a visit. Nice grub, decent price, service was a little slow (over half an hour between ordering and getting first course). Car park can get busy.
We booked for our wedding anniversary lunch with family. We'd never been before but the reviews were good and had heard good things! We had the perfect afternoon, the food was fab, the service and staff was excellent. Nothing was rushed. Would definitely recommend and we will be going back!
Beautiful pub in Bearstead, we had the Portehouse steak which was huge, and the pork belly which was melt in the mouth soft. Best chips I've had in a long time the chefs here must be really on their game. Outstanding food, very friendly staff and an overall fantastic pub. I highly recommend a visit.
We went to the Oak on the Green and met with friends at 13:00 on a Friday. It was a lovely day and the outside terrace was very busy. We had pre booked a table and all was good. All in all, a great experience. Not our first visit to this place and we will be back again soon.
Great portion sizes and for a reasonable price. Very nice atmosphere and vibe. Good staff. My steak was slightly over cooked - maybe should have asked for a rare. My calamari was really nice and also the garlic bread we got for the table
Great food. Can get busy, but that's because it's so popular, so book in advance.
The steamer! What am I talking about? Peep through the British (and Mexican) inspired menu and there the entry lies. Thank you to the excellent serving staff to point this dish out. It’s a suet pudding packed with huge tender chunks of meat with a red wine sauce infused gravy. The side of peas are served alongside your choice of chips, mash or perfectly seasoned boiled potatoes.
After consuming the flavoursome, meaty scallops starter, the steamer surprised. Sorry to go on about it, but It is the best pie I’ve tasted in my life.
The Oak on the Green is a cracking country pub. Hops hang from the ceiling and memorabilia from days long ago in the town’s history hang purposefully on its bare brick walls.
Warm, comfortable and serving amazing food.
