This restaurant was recommended and it didn’t disappoint. Arrived just after 7 on Saturday and taken to our table. Drinks and popadoms ordered while we had a look at the menu. Staff were friendly, accommodating and efficient. We all ordered different food and it was soooo good. People coming in to eat and also people in and out for takeaways. Highly recommend and can’t wait to go back.

Visited tonight for a Father’s Day tea and we were impressed. Very efficient staff who were lovely with our little girl and very tasty food. The keema naan was the best I’ve ever tasted. Thanks for a lovely evening, we will be back for sure!

Visited on a Thursday & restaurant was fairly quiet. Lovely environment to eat in, modern, clean & spacious. Service was very good, attentive without being intrusive & staff friendly. We had the set menu, food was presented well and was delicious. We both had our usual selection & I can honestly say it was the best Indian meal I've had in years. We will both be back & will be recommending to family & friends.

Visited last night as a late Valentine's meal and couldn't fault it. The food was amazing and despite the fact that it was really busy the service was second to none. Friendly and approachable staff who all welcomed us with a smile and made our A la Spicery experience. Can't wait to go back.

Just perfect. !! A lovely surprise !!! Visited the following week too and can't wait for our next visit, which is already arranged !! Food outstandingly good. Delicious !! Lamb and chicken tikka very tender and flavours of each dish just gives something special. Great chef. !!

Fantastic restaurant offering a good takeaway service with both delivery and collection offered. In the six times, I have used them, the food has always been fantastic and the consistency of the standard is refreshing. I highly recommend trying them if you haven't already

Recommended. A hidden gem, Amazing food, amazing service, during the lockdowns we have been getting takeaways from Ala spicery, the food can only be described as exceptional every time. I love Indian food & usually travel from consett to ocean road in South Shields. However this will be our new restaurant & takeaway & it’s not too far from home.

For the price it’s good and I wasn’t disappointed, but it’s not the highest level.
£21 got us chicken korma, prawn Balti, chips, plain pilau, garlic naan, 4 baji, 2x salad, mango chutney, yellow sauce & a popadom
I ordered take out which was ready in 20 mins. When ordering on the phone the line was cut off before I could ask the price.
I was served quickly by a friendly waitress.
My partners korma was a bit too watery and they were shy on the chicken. Although it tasted nice.
Order was taken wrong, I ordered 2x garlic naan but ended up with 4 onion baji and 1 garlic naan.
Naan was nice but not thick and chewy it had a lot of thin and crispy spots which isn’t my preference.
I enjoyed my Balti which I must add had plenty of prawns and they were cooked well (not rubbery). I would also add that the prawns and the curry had plenty of taste.
Baji were nice I’d say about average standard.
Rice was also nice and the chips were great.
Le Raaj does the best curries in Durham area but bare in mind that you would pay double.
Setting has disabled access ramp is a little steep but not as bad as some that I have seen.
There are also nice walks around the location and there is a big free car park for customers. There are railings outside we’re you can lock a cycle too.
A brief look of the interior was ok I did not use toilets. Not a particularly fancy setting but good enough.
Myself and partner rarely order curry so we would probably not return as we would rather pay a little more for higher quality.
