We had a wonderful lunch yesterday. The food and service was excellent. With a very good menu. Also they picked up that I had a food intolerance and were very good with alternative's also for another member of our party they made a special Vegan dish. I can recommend that you give it a try. Thank you to all the staff and compliments to the chef. Excellent.

WOW! First and foremost. We stayed last night, in the Hayloft. The room was "specless" as in there was no conceivable particle of dust anywhere in the room/pub. The super comfy king size bed was amazing, it was so hard to get out of! The rooms' tasteful decor was accompanied by classy fixtures and fittings throughout the room. As with all areas in the pub, the attention to detail is phenomenal. Our three course supper was sublime, we both had scallops to start, steak and confit duck for mains and the life changing chocolate mousse for pud. Simon, Jason and team are lovely, welcoming, professional and thoughtful, a true pleasure to stay in this wonderful establishment. Thank you all again for taking care of us, we truly loved it. Had a lovely time at The Wellington Arms for dinner last night, also stayed in their lovely Cart House room - would thoroughly recommend both. And the special gluten free French toast with bacon, maple syrup and blueberries for breakfast was wonderful! Thanks guys

Probably my favourite restaurant. Attention to detail is first class. Tomato Juice to die for or spice it up as a Bloody Mary amazing.

Gosh, this place is so lovely to stay at - we can highly recommend the new Cart House - super-comfortable and cosy. And Jason's food is perfect - we had fresh scallops, plump mussels, cod, and luscious lobster. The full English breakfast and our own toaster for the homemade sourdough set us up for walking around Silcester, but we made sure to nip back for lunch - anda welcome mulled wine and twice-baked cheese soufflé. Jason, Simon and his team made a surprise treat weekend for my husband perfect.

This is an absolute gem of a place. Beautiful garden, tasteful decor and polite and friendly staff. Our meal was faultless, I had the best cheese soufflé I’ve ever eaten, and not overly priced drinks. We will definitely revisit.

Lovely place with the nicest owners. Beautiful food, excellent well priced wine, non intrusive service and you can even stay over in one of their well appointed rooms. We’ve stayed over and the breakfast is perfect. Lovely for a weekend break to explore the Ridgeway or Berkshire or just an indulgent lunch. Nice crowd too, grown up and very, very civilised. Highly recommended.

This Bed and Breakfast was a perfect stop! The owner Simon and his staff were great. Food was the best of our trip across the English countryside. The saddest part of our trip was that we only booked one night here. The rooms looked just like the photos on the website. Beds comfortable and the sheets soft. Perfect place for some R&R. My whole group loved every moment here. Everything we ate was absolutely delicious. Thanks again Simon for sharing your lovely B&B with us!

The best food in the area without a doubt. Extremely local food cooked and served to a very high standard. Also relaxed enough to just have a drink in the garden. Service is excellent. I visit more often than I should, even with my 6 month old.

Our first visit. What a find! Peacefully rural on a quiet road to the south of Baughurst. A classic, pretty country pub, now converted to an excellent restaurant, with three rooms. What strikes you first is how immaculate The Wellie is, inside and out. The large garden is a delight. The warmest of relaxed welcomes from the owners, Simon and Jason, and manager, Sheila, and their lovely young helpers. Nothing is too much trouble. This may now be a fabulous restaurant but there were still two hand pumps! Longdog Golden Poacher & Basingstoke Pride. The seating inside is for diners - every session is a sell out! But I was very happy to sup several excellent pints of well kept draught Basingstoke Pride in the garden – until I discovered their Negronis! Truly the best this side of Kwant (Piccadilly). We’d opted for the room in the pub: the Apartment. Two rooms on the first floor, knocked through. Enormous comfy bed, large rainfall shower, sofa, mini bar – two TVs! Free milk & homemade shortbread. Dinner was a truly exceptional menu from Jason’s kitchen, which changes each evening. Highlights were the scallops wrapped in pancetta, the pollack, the lamb pot pie, the twice baked cheese soufflé, the NY cheesecake, the rhubarb ice cream, the treacle tart... All so fresh, tasty, and mainly from their garden. What we loved most was it was relaxed but fine dining without the tiny portions. The Full English breakfast the next morning was equally tasty. All in all, we did not want to go home! Thank you Simon, Jason & Sheila. We will be back, soon

Had the most memorable dinner, bed and breakfast in this beautiful country pub together with our dog. Everything was perfect with beautiful rooms set in immaculate gardens. Ours was dog friendly with a tiled floor and he was welcome throughout the property. The most comfortable, huge bed ever! We have previously visited for lunch so already knew the food was exceptional with great wines to match. Simon recommended a 20 minute walk for the dog in the morning starting at a public footpath in the garden. Ideal before a delicious leisurely breakfast and unfortunately quick return to work. All the staff were friendly, helpful and charming and we will certainly be back

Nothing was too much trouble to ensure our comfort. The staff were charming and thoughtful. The dogs were welcomed. The environment; very pleasant and the food was lovely... beautiful fresh ingredients. Thank you. Unsurprisingly you will need to book ahead to ensure you get a table. A charming oasis

Fabulous experience tonight. Faultless for a quality gastro pub from the moment you walk through the door. Excellent attentive service, lovely decor, great food. Looking forward to returning some time soon.

Took some friends from USA to The Wellington Arms for their final dinner at the end of their trip. As ever, the food and the service was excellent. It did not disappoint.
