Chequers Inn - Battle - Photo album

We visited this pub twice whilst on holiday as the food was so good! Staff friendly. Dogs welcome. A lovely atmosphere. Would highly recommend visiting this pub. Only downside is that we live in Norwich. We wish this was our local!
A lovely stop midway for the 1066 walk between Pevensey and Rye, would certainly recommend to other walkers. The owner was helpful, room ideal (had a bath to soothe the aches) and food acceptable (though could have been a little more generous portion size...a smear of pea or five fine beans, though
Food was very good. I really enjoyed the steak a d chips. The waitress was friendly and polite. The chap behind the bar wasn't particularly enthusiastic to see us but perhaps he'd had a bad day.
The food and menu were truly excellent. Gourmet standard. Service was quick and friendly. Hardly any wait time on the food. Definately will dine there again
We had a fantastic lunch including a vegan meal. The service and quality of the food will definitely bring us back again.
Lovely vibe with dog friendly and human friendly staff. Adequate car park a bonus. Variety of seating areas and dining tables ditto.
Great service, top quality food and great atmosphere. Warmly recommended! We had the chicken, portobella steak and squash wellington and desserts. Everything was really fresh, clearly home made and well seasoned. The best restaurant food all of us had in a long time. Great vegan options as well.
Called in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised, not a pub I would have necessarily made a beeline for on a miserable Saturday afternoon, but the staff were super friendly and attentive and the food was excellent - reasonably priced too ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ Would recommend ๐Ÿ˜Š
What a lovely Inn. Steeped in history and came with all of the things we expected, creaking floors and amazing historical artifacts. The staff were amazing and looked after us. Lauren served us breakfast every morning which was lovely and Ella and Tracey looked after us in the bar in the evening. Th
Just come back from a Sunday roast. All 5 of us were excited to see every roast options under the sun compared to many other places that only offer a small section of choices. Cheques had Lamb, pork , beef chicken and vegetarian options available. Service was swift and and relaxed. Just what you nee
We only went to eat food was rely good service was also good, friendly staff
Recommended. Great service in the bar (Sunday evening 23 Oct). Food was perfectly fine for Sunday pub food. Not gourmet but hey, itโ€™s Sunday roast ๐Ÿ˜ƒ. Great Gluten Free options. Recommend this place (did not stay the night but if our experience in the bar was anything to judge by, itโ€™d be a great p
Great pub, the staff are really friendly which makes it an around great place to stop
We came for a Friday night dinner and it was excellent. I loved the pubโ€™s atmosphere and decor, food was delicious, some of the best fish and chips I have ever had, and the staff were polite, helpful and generally lovely. Will be coming back again for sure.
Very nice lunch at the Chequers, we had the minute steak, bearnaise sauce and handcut fries, which was excellent. This was followed by a very good sticky toffee pudding with marshmallow and ice cream. The menu has a good selection and the staff are all pleasant and helpful.
Super little pub - a real historical public house! The food is excellent and service is friendly, and there are plenty of relaxed seating options in nooks and sofas around the pub. Cocktails were also delicious and somewhat unexpected. Itโ€™s also very dog-friendly. Highly recommended!
