Had the tasting menu and the quality was outstanding. I think some of the dishes were pushing it a bit, like sharing a bread roll between 2 people, particularly when dining with new people. However, this doesn’t take away from the perfection of each dish.
It was my first trip to Bath during the Easter Weekend. I was treated to a fabulous lunch at the Elder. The prefix menu I chose was a pigeon tart and a Sunday roast. I was not able to stay to try the sticky toffee pudding since I was running to a tour of Bath. But the two courses I had were very elevated and tasted great. The Yorkshire pudding alone was scrumptious, light and aiery. The service was very attentive and the décor has an old hunting lodge feel.
Had a lovely meal at Elder this evening. Enjoyed the six course tasting menu which gives you an opportunity to try more of the menu than the a la carte (although smaller portions of each dish). Service was really friendly throughout and provided good explanations of all the dishes. The restaurant is pretty interesting as it has lots of smaller rooms (due to the historic building). We found it a nice atmosphere all round.
Excellent meal, well served in lovely surroundings. One of the best restaurants in bath highly recommend, Great service by nick very friendly and well look after as I’m by myself.
The Elder in Bath is a true culinary delight,
A place where the ambiance is just right,
The food is exquisite, a real work of art,
And the service is impeccable, from the start.
My recommendation is to get the tasting menu in full,
Each dish is a masterpiece, an edible jewel,
Explore the wine list, you need some good fuel,
And by the time you read the menu, you'll start to drool.
The location is prime, with a vibe that's sublime,
And as you look at the walls, you might spot a serious bull sign,
It's a place to indulge, to savor every bite,
And you might even think, this is worth a Parliament invite.
So don't hesitate, just make a reservation,
The Elder is a true destination,
Where food, service, and location blend in harmony,
A culinary experience, worth every penny.
If a food and resteraunt review deserved a six star rating you don’t have to look search or find an alternative venue as The Elder ticks all the boxes and does not disappoint… we were highly recommended this venue by friends and travelling from london we were fortunate to find a table for two… what more can I say … service, atmosphere, first impression from the welcome to the farewell… a Sunday lunch with style and probably one of the very best - highly recommend and you’ll know and understand once you’ve had this experience… amazing kitchen, service and we will be back… for the tasting menu for sure… tyvm, jh
Food was excellent, but was even more impressed by the level of service. Friendly and affable staff combined with both vegetarian and vegan menus make this restaurant accessible to all. I’d recommend the deer for non-veg and masala cauliflower for veg folks. Extensive dessert and drink options round things off nicely!
We went on a sat night on a weekend to Bath. We were served by the manager and loved the experience. We went for the tasting menu and it came out at perfect intervals and was really delicious. Would recommend if you are looking for something special.
Had an excellent evening here while on a weekend trip to Bath. As someone who typically dines solo, I’m used to getting a bit less attention than larger tables, but that was absolutely not the case here. Everyone was very attentive and made excellent recommendations on food and drink. The wild garlic veloute was particularly noteworthy.
Bath have rarely new and standing-out restaurants since it already had a lot to offer not just for a fancy night but for street foods or desserts etc, The elder just opened around last year and surprisingly it skipped our attentions for a whole year before we finally visited it tonight.
The service is top notch, and it is trying to keep distance from served tables during the pandemic (hopefully soon to be epidemic). The drink menu is a variety of choices, and tasting menu is attractive if you are keen having a big meal.
We had the venison for the reason heard they got a park raising the deer and sourced ingredients from beginning to the the table. The meat is well cooked (as we asked) but not dry at all, actually still stay the juicy bits. The apple slice is a natural sweetener and give some inspiration for me to cook in the future. The starter (bream and eel) had fresh taste.
The atmosphere is so nice that provides a place for a wild taste. Attentions from the servant is also a bonus. The decor is vivid and carefully designed. Price-wise, it’s for a special night, but definitely worthy every penny.
An amazing game based restaurant! They offer both a tasting menu and a la carte.
The service is just amazing and the food is quite special and unique for the area.
The venison portion was tasty, and served with the most amazing fresh peas.
The old fashioned was one of the best ones I had and the wine recommendations were spot on.
It's hard to describe how incredible this place is without saying that I've eaten in several 3* Michelin restaurants and I enjoyed this meal more. It was easily one of the best meals I've ever had in my life. The food was simply world class, I'm still so elated by the meal. I loved the main course SO much that I ordered 3 desserts to myself, and ate all three and was so so happy. The decor was stunning and the staff were wonderful, the wine was incredible and the price tag was absolutely worth every penny, I'd have paid double without question. Perfect night, perfect meal. Perfection.
Excellent food and good service. The only problem is the deliveries to the kitchen just a few feet from the tables, not a good experience. Having said that the food was almost faultless. Light but packed with flavours. Not that it's cheap c £70 each for 3 of us having 3 courses and a bottle of wine.
Great food, great ambiance, great service - will definitely come again
Hard to say which was better between the food and the service. This was a truly memorable experience. My girlfriend and I were lucky enough to enjoy both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in the restaurant. Would highly recommend to anyone in Bath; we both agreed these were two of the best meals of our lives. Thank you to the hospitable staff who made our experience a special one! (Christmas Eve photos only- we were too excited to take photos of their Christmas tasting dishes before eating)
Absolutely incredible food. Staff were so friendly and well informed about the menu. It made choosing our meal from the menu very simple. The food was delicious and they catered to food intolerance with ease. We would definitely visit again.
Hands down one of the best meals my wife and I have had in the UK. I can't remember a time where every single dish was so impressive. We had the tasting menu and also added the burrata and oysters, and were so glad we did. Especially the oysters. Crunchy onions on an oyster? Heavenly.
Everything was delicious
With a starter of a sauce of artichoke with truffle
Main plate a Risotto vegetarian with mushrooms
Fish with vegetables
Service since the entrance was very good
We had a Service Dog, and we didn't have any problem with having a table.
The soufflé with cranberries was just ok, I wouldn't ask again.
