Not been to this pub for years and there are so many pubs in the area where Sunday Lunch is hit and miss. The Butchers Arms far exceeded expectations. A main and dessert for £9.95, fresh vegetables, the best cauliflower cheese I've ever tasted and generous helpings of meet fresh from the joint, none of that mass produced stuff. Good choice of desserts, the Bread and Butter pudding was awesome. Definitely give this place a try. The weekday menu looked appealing aswell.

A huge thank you to the Butcher's Arms for opening early so that they could host the Somer AC 'Farmborough Festive 10k' runners. A brilliant time was had by all. Even though we were late back due to the tough running conditions (floods and blizzards) the Butchers Arms managed to serve us around 20 Sunday roasts, all hot. Lots of vegetables. Great selection of puds too! Well done Butcher's Arms. There are 20 customers now singing your praises!

06/2022 - I should come here more often than I do. The beer is always in prime condition, the staff affable and the food beyond reproach. On this particular Sunday, I stopped for the Sunday roast. The lamb was a trifle more done than I prefer, but I was late in the day. However, the presentation was superb- they do things a 'little differently' at the Butchers Arms. Over the years since living in the area (since 1991) I've only stopped by at this tavern on occasion, noticing as I did so each time, a change of management. Other than by a few local die hards, it didn't seem all that popular. A recent visit specifically to scan the certificate of the Cask Marque Ale Trail. The establishments who qualify for this accreditation, are amongst the top 18,000 of some 50,000 who can guarantee a perfect pint - most, if not every time. Again I noticed another change of management and there's more enterprise in this new team. New outs tables front and back, an outside bar to the rear a bit more spic and span and it's far more patronised now than on any of my other visits The beer is still deserving the Certificate and the menu has extrapolated with a quantum leap and there's quite a few novel dishes. Sunday Roast is a very popular, a reservation affair, if you want to be assured of a table. This tavern, on my way home (the pretty way) has become a regular repeat visit.

At last a landlord and lady who know what they are doing - and doing it well. It has begun to have its day in the limelight as a proper village pub.

Had a lovely Sunday roast lamb dinner with all the trimmings. My wife had ham egg & chips with thick cut ham, free range eggs & very tasty home made chips. All washed down with a pint of draught bass.

A lovely homely pub that is conveniently situated in easy reach of the local villages. Wonderful home cooked food, presented beautifully on the plate. Excellent customer service as well. I get the sense that this is a real credit to the local area, as it appears they do quiz nights and other community spirited activities. A thoroughly enjoyable visit.

A lovely traditional friendly pub with garden. Regular bands and singers, great tasting food and a decent range of drinks including cask ales.... All run by a class act Mark and Annie. We have had some of the best times at the Butcher's Arms ❤️. Definitely worth swinging by for a few pints and some grub 👍

Went for Thursday Steak Night, the welcome was warm and friendly. The steak was one of the best I have had in a long time, cooked perfectly with nice big chips and a good bottle of red wine. Enjoyed it so much we are going again this week. Well worth a visit.

Popped in for early evening dinner and their pub quiz night. Food was lovely (had Gammon with all trimmings) service was good and beer spot on ( Doombar). The four of us had a great evening in a good old traditional pub 👍

Good hard working community pub. Popular with locals; always something on. As a CAMRA groupie, can't say the range of ales sets the world on fire, but the inevitable Butcombe is always well kept. Haven't eaten, but suspect the fare is good. The Butchers is the sort of place we need to support as pubs like this are disappearing fast. Respect.

Me & hubby had a take away Beef Roast, so much food, loads of lovely cooked beef, just how I like it not too pink in middle, a massive Yorkshire pudding, loads of veg, stuffing, gravy, horseradish sauce . I will definitely be coming back and would recommend this to everyone, feeling very full up now, thanks Butcher's arms x
