Called for a couple of pints in the middle of our walk, fantastic friendly service, well kept beer (as a licensee for over 30 years) its good to see someone who still keeps a good pint. We didn’t eat but it was obvious from the many people there for dinner that the food was good.

My husband and I come here often and have been doing so for the past couple of years. The food is amazing and we have never felt let down. I am yet to find a restaurant that compares! Great atmosphere, great staff and tremendous food.

We had a fairly large family gathering at the Wheatsheaf for Sunday lunch. The food and service were fabulous with knowledgeable friendly staff. The pub is dog friendly in the extreme, with their own little entourage of dogs. The garden area is terraced and on a nice day is wonderful. All in all, a lovely place with lovely staff.

The Sustainable Forest Lodge was a testament to eco-conscious living. Surrounded by the beauty of the forest, it provided a harmonious retreat. Our lodge room was comfortable and had all the eco-friendly amenities we could ask for. The lodge staff were passionate about conservation and provided great tips for exploring the local ecosystem. A stay here is a step towards a greener future.

Short menu but delicious food. The roast beef was beautifully cooked and tender, very nice meat. The turbot was lovely too. Excellent service, professional and friendly. The surroundings are beautiful too. Excellent experience.

Fantastic location , excellent out door area for eating and drinking. Indoors very cosy during the winter. Only slight criticism is the food prices are now verging on the expensive side.

Absolutely stunning rooms in a beautiful location. Food was excellent. All the staff and owners were really friendly, Lauren and Jack were stars! Even on a busy bank holiday weekend, we were looked after every step of the way. Will definitely recommend and will be back :)

This is possibly the loveliest pub within 5 miles of Bath. Superb historical interior, lovely food, genuinely friendly service, rooms if you want to stay, the most beautiful beer garden AMYWHERE and I think it still has a helicopter landing area. Beat that! Seriously visit but book if you want to eat. Oh yes and also they love and welcome dogs!

It is a nice pub in beautiful surroundings. It's not very easy to find using maps and down some very narrow bendy roads to get there.

Had a brilliant experience here. The staff are so friendly and accomodating and the pub dogs are gorgeous! We came for lunch, had a few side plates each and left feeling thoroughly looked after and satisfied. Thanks to the two lovely ladies who served us today ❤️

Held my fathers 80th birthday party here. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was delicious, especially the Halibut. Rooms were nice and cosy with large en-suite showers. The pub is dog friendly and there’s a lovely atmosphere especially when sitting by the fire near the bar. Highly recommended.

Updating from previous review as last visit was absolute perfection: the aubergine salad was amazing, the roast chicken was delicious, service was impeccable. Weather didn't play ball but it didn't matter at all. They now have Estrella Galicia on tap which is a favourite. Love the gorgeous outdoors space very much. Our seven year old chose to come here for his birthday lunch as it's his 'favourite pub' and frankly I think he has excellent taste! Decor quirky, eccentric and beautiful; building itself gorgeous with lovely large gardens. Not overwhelmed at choice of beer on tap and service was a bit disorganised. Food was great, good chips and tasty homemade burger. Berry sorbet is super nice but probably not usually suitable for children - it was offered as a choice for kids ice cream cone but fortunately my 5 year old loved it!

A very nice establishment. The seabass with bisque and crab tortellonis and the flat iron steak were succulent. Surprised it doesn’t appear on the Michelin guide, at least as “bib gourmand”

Amazing! Every little detail and the staff and the rooms and the food are just lovely!! The scallops and the seabass were superb!!! We stayed the night and then just had to return the next night!! Also.... towel heaters and robes in the room? Heaven. The rooms are so pretty and quiet!! A gem!!!!!

What a great pub. Stayed overnight for one night. Beautiful setting. Great food and beer. My room was fantastic ...stayed in ' the Wendy house', emperor bed, large room with a sofa and a large ensuite. Table and chairs outside the room. I could go on...hard to fault! The staff were brilliant and the locals really sociable. Hats off to everyone at the establishment. Thank you

Beautiful country pub. Friendly staff. Very dog friendly, lots of happy dogs about. My friend and I really enjoyed the food; chicken schnitzel followed by sticky toffee pudding for me, and chickpea burger followed by affogatto for her. Absolutely delicious; the schnitzel was beautifully crisp outside with tender chicken inside, and the sticky toffee pud sponge was light yet rich, with a lovely caramelised banana accompanying it. My friend is Italian and she raved about the affogatto, declaring it one of the best she's ever had!
