Had the pleasure to visit with friends for a quick lunch, as we’d been highly recommended. The interior is really well done, the stripped back to industrial mixed with fishing/sea side decor works really well. We had cod & chips with bread & butter, so had to make the obligatory chip butty, and I got to try a few muscles which were plump and juicy, the cod was super fresh and tasty. We hope to come again one day. Having had the chance to meet Garry, we wish you all the very best with your top Fish & Chip shop for the future

Fantastic fish & chips in a delightful restaurant. Polite and helpful staff and fairly priced menu. Toilet facilities are first class. Will certainly go again and would advise anyone who love Britain's finest meal to give it a try.

Loved it how when you sit down they bring over a jug of water. You mark on the menu your order and take up the the till. Shared mussels to start. We're stunning. Had cod and chips curry sauce and mushy peas as did my husband and kids. Could not fault it. Great size portions. The curry sauce was amazing. Very friendly waitress. Would highly recommend and looking forward to going back and trying fish from the grill. Would even drive the 20 minutes to have the takeaway. Throughly enjoy by all of us *****

So our home is in Seattle, Washington and as you know we also have access to some amazing seafood. But the Scallop Shell was spot on. Barring none, the best mussels I've ever eaten so if you go and don't try those you'll have missed something truely special. Oysters were great as were the scallops. We were a party of three and as we wanted to try a variety of things available we only ordered two plates of the fish and chips and there was plenty for three people to split. The cod was fantastic and we were not disappointed as it had been recommended as "the best fish and chips in all of England." We plan to test that theory but I doubt it can be bested. The waitstaff were wonderful too. Very friendly. So all and all I'd say that if you visit Bath Spa and don't stop here for dinner, you really missed the boat! Cheers from the Piper Clan!

Really enjoyed everything about our visit to The Scallop Shell. The great choice of fresh fish and seafood available and the excellent way it was prepared and presented. We ate mussels, clams, langoustine and lobster and all were delicious. The staff were great and very helpful and polite. We will definitely return. In fact I can't wait! My only regret is that I'm only visiting the city and can't eat there on a regular basis.

As soon as we entered the staff was lovely and accomodating. Sat on the terrace outside and were fussed over if we needed heaters on which was nice. Food was amazing especially the scallops. Highly recommended. Thanks for lovely service and to Louise who recommended it. (From Bay Tree House. An amazing lady who looked after us as well)

We had an overall good time at the Scallop Shell. This nautically-decorated seafood spot in Bath had great appetizers—we loved the oyster and fish cake. The fish and chips was decent, we loved the tartar sauce and the cod was good, although the chips left something to be desired. The star of the show was the sticky toffee pudding! Our host was fantastic and worked some magic to push back our reservation as we were running late. Our server was kind, although we would’ve appreciated more helpful guidance with the menu. TL;DR - We enjoyed this seafood spot in Bath. The apps and desserts stood out, the fish and chips was just okay.

Such good food here, and easy to get here from the Bath Spa train station. Service was good as well, and the retro music was good. Additionally, we mentioned about the not so fresh prawns, and one of the staff came to explain and apologise. Anyway, it is a must visit and must try place. 2 thumbs up!

Last month we went out for dinner with our friends in this exclusive and quite expensive restaurant, we reserved a table at the first floor. I cannot even begin to describe how wonderful the experience we had at the scallop shell was. The staff were friendly and welcoming, such lovely service! The atmosphere is great, it's a really beautiful, clean restaurant. The menu is clear with various fish options felt like they were wanted. I ordered a fishcake, one of the best I’ve ever had, friends had grilled fish and “fish&chips” that is a special one, not the ordinary one. Everything was fresh, tasty and prepared with attention. Very good beers too. I recommend this place.

You wouldn't expect such a gem in the touristy city of Bath but that's just how good it is. It's a family run restaurant with an open kitchen where you can see all the action happening. The oysters were one of the freshest one had and the scallops were an absolute delight. Definitely does justice to its namesake. You'll not find Gurnard in a lot of menus of seafood places but this was a lovely surprise. The sole was brilliantly done with capers and extra clams. All in all if you're a seafood lover and in Bath, this place is highly recommended. They have a brilliant wine list which pairs very well with the food on offer

Ate full plate of raw seafood and all were fresh and delicious. Unfortunately, it is not easy to find places where you can eat raw fish without thinking twice and I left full and satisfied. Staff was very kind and welcoming. The location of the restaurant could be better in terms of views but I rather focused on the food 🤤

Wow, what a great find! Exceptional food, great service, friendly and helpful staff and quality ingredients. We had the oysters to start followed by the scallops, the oysters were so good we ordered more before ordering our mains. The fried pollock which was recommended by the chef, was absolutely delightful, the batter was light and crispy, the fish was chunky and so fresh it fell apart. The chips were 10/10. The half lobster was bigger than we expected and tasted amazing. The mushy peas had so much flavour compared to what you would normally expect. Would highly recommend and would definitely come back again.

Good if a little expensive seafood. A fairly small menu delivered well. Both the cod and the hake are excellent fish and chips. The sea bass with added seafood was very good. Decent wine and drinks menu to accompany the food. Recommended.

It appeared to be a quite famous restaurant for locals and tourists. We arrived at 16:48 and there was already a queue waiting tables. We sat on the first floor which was really cozy. We ordered scallops, prawns, mussels, tomato salads and chips. All the seafood were very fresh and tasty. The staffs there were friendly and welcoming. The only suggestion is that if the chips are less shredded would be perfect. Will definitely come back very often.

The scallop shell is always a go to restaurant whenever we are in bath. Their foods are amazing. The secret of their excellent food taste is probably due to the very fresh fish they get everyday. Mussels, prawns are excellent. Fish platters are also recommended. Better to do a reservation before you go. It is extremely busy.

Reservation is a must. We tried our luck in lunch time and staff apologised for unable to arrange a table. She managed to squeeze a two hour gap between bookings for us at around 6PM. Fine for us since we are used to early dinner. Every single dish that we ordered was amazing. I’m certain the haddock we had was the best fish-and-chips I have ever had!
