Excellent coffee and excellent customer service. Great members of staff who guide you through the menu, taking the time to find a coffee that suits your preference. Well worth a visit!
I walked into a random coffee shop in Bath while over from the states, and the barista pushed me this direction. It was a great tip. The owner won the U.K. barista championship, so obviously the coffee was outstanding. The staff was also incredibly friendly -- they were willing to talk shop with me for 10 or 15 minutes and let me sample a number of their beers. The inside was also well-designed -- they managed to create an aesthetically pleasing, inviting space, without coming off as overly-polished liked Starbucks or Costa. If I'd discovered them earlier in the trip, I know I would have spent the lion's share of my time in Bath at this shop.
We had an excellent coffee here yesterday. The guys are very passionate about their coffee and we had not seen the new type of coffee machine they use, so spent some time talking about that
Absolutely fantastic coffee and the carrot cake was to die for!
A must visit for any coffee lovers. Wonderful selection of coffees and cakes and very knowledgable staff. I always look forward to returning every time I am in Bath.
Came in today, they allowed me to bring my dog in, best staff I have met and the best customer service and the coffee...wow! Will be recommending this place and be coming every week without fail! Keep up the great work guys!!!!
Colonna and Smalls Coffee Shop is tucked away in a corner of Queens Square Chapel Row Bath. The architectural style is minimalistic, open plan, with coffee descriptions on the walls. Very helpful and well informed baristas serve amazing coffee. There is usually a choice of six coffee beans on offer, each cup made to suit the customer This is the ultimate specialist coffee shop offering a regularly updated menu of six single estate coffees - three espresso and three filter (with three different types of filters). There are tasting notes posted for the bean and roast, for each of the different coffees offered. The coffees made with milk use local organic. I enjoyed the coffee, very distinctive, and would be one of the best coffee houses I have visited.
I came to Bath recently, for the first time, on a mini little break before starting at the University part time. I did my research before travelling, and read so many reviews saying Colonna and Smalls did the best carrot cake. With carrot cake being my favourite case, I had to see if the reviews were true. I popped by on a Sunday later afternoon. The atmosphere was light and airy, and it was busy enough to give a calm and welcoming atmosphere without being overwhelming. I order the carrot cake and was asked to take a seat, where the carrot cake was bought to me (a lovely touch I was not expecting). The cake itself did not look like anything special but my oh my - the reviews are absolutely right. This is the best carrot cake I have ever had in my life. The sponge is incredibly moist and has the perfect level of spice one would want from a carrot cake. The frosting is as smooth as velvet and has that gorgeous cream cheese tang with a great balance of sweetness. I cannot stop thinking about how great this cake was and its been over a week since I went! I am a big fan of raisins in my carrot cake, which this did not have, but honestly it did not need them to add any moisture or texture. The people working in the cafe were lovely and welcoming. The only thing I would say is that I do not think I could sit in there for too long due to all the seating (as far as I can remember!) being hard wood. Nevertheless, I will most definitely be back for the carrot cake, even if the visit is brief!
Great filter coffee, they give you several options of coffee to choose from depending on what flavour profile you prefer for both filter and espresso.
If you are unsure don't hesitate to ask the friendly staff who will be more than happy to guide you through it.
They use high quality coffee beans and filtered water which is very important to get the best coffee.
Highly recommend this place if you are in Bath and you like your coffee.
High quality of coffee! We have pour over and latte with washed beans blend! The coffee is so bright and clean, and really rich in flavour as well! This place is so buzzing in weekend!
Lovely Coffee House on a quiet street with a calm and relaxing atmosphere 😎
The coffee is excellent 👌 made by professional knowledgeable baristas offering some excellent speciality coffees. If you want a treat or you're a coffee lover, this place is definitely worth the small walk from the hussel and bussel of the busy shopping streets.
This is a little gem of excellence in a quiet, calm environment in a beautiful part of the city 😀 My flat white was £3.80
A perfect cup of coffee in Bath? Search no more and go to Colonna. Exciting and varied coffees for any taste preference, beans to go, a selection of sweets will make your day as they did mine. The color palette is a joy for the eyes too. The staff is attentive to the smallest detail, patient and caring
My review is for the espresso and filter coffee. I also purchased some beans after tasting the quality of the drinks.
I think “Best Coffee in Bath” kinda undersells how good this place is. I’ve chased my hobby around the world and sought out specialty cafes, and this place is one of the best I’ve tried in recent memory.
When you become consumed by the rabbit-hole of making coffee at home, you can often leave cafes thinking “no one cares about my cup being good as much as I do”, but I’m happy to have been proved wrong in this case. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and answered all my curiosity in an unpretentious and helpful manner.
Firstly the filter coffee, I ordered a Gesha on the basis of having read many good things about this place. I was not disappointed! The florality was really present and the tea like quality of the coffee was balanced by the excellent body - which is a trademark of this coffee.
When you pay what you pay for a drink like this it’s really nice to experience it prepared correctly.
It’s also important to note that they care about the water here, with their own RO system and re-mineralization recipe. So you can rest assured the best will be brought out of the coffee.
The espresso was a natural Ethiopian. Something that’s pretty hard to extract well and generally leaves me underwhelmed when I order it. This was an exception, it was sweet and rich - it was really delicious.
Overall I couldn’t recommend Colonna more! I also picked up a pretty rare coffee to try which I’m pretty excited by.
Essentially coffee Mecca. Never been disappointed, even if I only get to visit every couple of years. An absolute pleasure.
Lovely Cafe with amazing coffee. I came to Bath for a day, and the coffee was so good here I had to come twice. I was here on a weekday so it was nice and quiet. Great spot to relax with an excellent coffee.
Probably the best coffee in Bath? Very busy at the weekends but worth the wait. The staff are incredibly knowledgable and are clearly passionate about every microscopic detail that goes into making a coffee. You can also purchase beans to take away if you wish.
Great speciality coffee with a number of different bean choices. Great cappuccino and knowledgable staff.
The best cakes I’ve eaten in Bath, high quality coffee.very nice staffs. Really recommend.
If you’re a hipster that likes nice coffee, then this is the place for you!
A nice airy cafe with properly good coffee. My flat white was absolutely fantastic. These folks know what they’re doing. Award winning!
Excellent coffee, tasted amazing with a good range of flavours. The staff were lovely and very helpful :)
Have u seen all the awards? That’s impressive, guys. Thank u so much for an amazing coffee, so well balanced 😌
Nice coffee shop specializing in unique coffees. These people know what they’re doing when it comes to coffee. They can prepare drinks in a variety of ways and tell you good information about the beans you are having. Staff is friendly and professional. The space is inviting for anyone doing work, reading, or just looking for a calm place and good coffee. The tables outside in the back are a nice touch on good weather days.
An amazing coffee shop that serves artisanal/unique blends you won't find anywhere else in Bath. They have a rotating menu of 6 coffee flavours, half of which are filter coffees meant to be drank black, and the other half can be had as an espresso with milk (like a flat white). The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful, especially if you're a coffee novice like myself. The atmosphere of the shop is great - I think it's the perfect coffee house. Would definitely recommend going at least once.
If you're in Bath and wanting to see the best bits of Bath... You will not be finished until you have stopped by Colonna & Small's. Always super amazing coffee that takes you on a flavour adventure.
Found this coffee shop randomly after a short walk from Charlotte Street car park. So glad we stopped here, the coffee was incredible and very well presented and such friendly staff. Very nice atmosphere. Highly recommended thank you.
