The general experience I have had of a Toby Carvery has always been pleasnet. For evening meals with family or lunch time catch up with friends, I will choose here because it’s great! The food, service and atmosphere, it’s everything that this restaurant provides.
I think in the future though I will be booking tables due to the business of the place and area
We have eaten here a couple of times before and enjoyed our meal. However on this visit we were bitterly disappointed, both the plates and the carvery food were cold, it ruined our visit.
The server, Loren, however was brilliant, both considerate and helpful and did all she could to assist us, going to the length of getting my wife a cushion as she has a bad spine. She deserves a gold star!!
Went in yesterday 29/10/ 23 for breakfast 8:10am asked where the black pudding was told it was being put out at 8:30 -45 ,the large chef with the beard was very obliging asked where i was sitting and brought me over some black pudding 10mins later, very good service and food all hot and fresh 👍
The food was absolutely delicious. I am very fussy about my Sunday roast and generally cook for the family myself, however after trying a Toby carvery for the first time a few weeks ago I have been converted. The wonderful choice of meat and veg and the gorgeous gravy have had us visit on 2 more occasions. It is such good value for money where other places are overpriced and don't even taste nice.
The only thing I would change is I have noticed the bottom of the plates when the chef is carving the meat can become greasy. I wouldntchange a single thing about the food and the waitress/waiters were also very good and attentive. The best Sunday Roast 😋 thank you!!
Toby has always been the best place for great for a good old roast dinner at a great price
Atmosphere has always been super and the staff are just amazing and work tirelessly.
We have had a few hiccups in the last with poor food quality, but that was a while ago and this location seems to have massively improved

Not been to a Toby since before Covid but took the opportunity of using a voucher for a discounted midweek lunchtime roast, the restuant was very busy and no doubt many of the customers were taking advantage of the deal.
Queue moved very quickly and for what was paid it was very good value and even at non voucher price it was worth it
Obviously choice of meets and lots of different Vegetables plus mac cheese which seemed odd but it actually went well with the meal.
Staff were helpful and polite, will definitely be paying another visit.
We took our granddaughter for her birthday treat, so asked for a child's meal. Got our meals and when we had finished the waitress said that not a child's meal, we said we didn't know? She said we was supposed tell chef that we needed a child's meal?
Not at any time was we told we had to tell chef for a child's meal.
Also our granddaughter had some pasta which was not cooked properly still hard?

Food was delicious, hot, fresh, and ready when we arrived. Could have been a larger range of vegetables on offer as only peas, carrots, cabbage was available but what was available was delicious. Dumplings In gravy was amazing.

Staff were very friendly and great service, but I had beef which was very chewy and fatty.
We like the Basildon Toby as the staff are always super helpful. And the food is good.
Although the Cauliflour Cheese was stone cold, I did not mention this to the staff, I just left it.
Had a great Sunday lunch , our waitress, Sharon from Basildon was great , explained how things work and was very tentative without being overbearing , fantastic food and great service.
