Lovely old pub with plenty of history and character. Extremely friendly and cheerful staff, some of the best food I've ever eaten and fantastic ales on tap. Not many better places I've visited.

I went there last night for a romantic meal with my partner, we had a table upstairs. I had duck as my main which was cooked to perfection and the dauphinoise potatoes were delicious! I had the Apple and cinnamon creme brulee for dessert.....wow! My partner had the fish and chips, the fish was so moist an't the chips, cooked perfectly! The staff were very friendly and attentive. A very enjoyable evening and we'll definitely return.

Had the upstairs booked for our small Wedding Reception on the 22/09/2017. Impeccable food (thank you James and kitchen staff) and incredible service (thank you Andrew and waiters/waitresses) Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the homely and charming atmosphere, alongside the helpful and organised waitresses. Thank you for saying yes to us. Made our wedding day perfect Mark and Jodie

Beautiful meal... we went to the blue anchor for our anniversary last week after it was recommended by a friend who is also a chef, and I would definitely go back. Breast of duck for starters, pheasant for main, I hadn't tried pheasant before and I thought it was amazing! The meatloaf was delicious. Chocolate brownie for dessert, so good! And I thought it would be really expensive but it was actually a really good price....

This inn oozes charm by the bucketful. Top that with a delicious lunch reasonably priced and it's a win/win situation. A lunch time special of faggots, mashed potatoes and mushy y peas was excellent. The dessert of raspberry creme brulee with rose water was divine. Staff are efficient and friendly. Won't be long before were back again.

We live just a short drive away in Rhoose so come here fairly frequent. Log fires during the winter season. The food is always lovely. The staff very friendly and attentive. My beer here was always Old Peculiar but I've now changed to Hereford Pale Ale which is very nice too. When the Beef Stroganoff is on the menu my wife is 'always there' for it as it was last night. I had the Pork Tenderloin which was gorgeous, my wife saying that this was her 2nd best favourite now. Looking forward to our next visit.

Drove to meet relatives who were staying locally. Good menu (food and drink), great service. Gave us a quiet table as we had a baby with us. Six nations game on tv in the adjacent bar, but no intrusive noise. Well looked after and overall good experience.

Highly recommended to us by staff at the Gilestone Manor. It did not disappoint. The staff at the Anchor managed to accommodate us and our little dog at relatively late notice. The pub was busy with most covers taken. There was a wait for orders to be taken and food to arrive, but hey, all good things come to those that wait and boy was it good. 4 of us, 3 different choices, all extremely well presented and tasty. Similarly, when the desserts arrived, artistically presented and extremely unctuous. Great and appropriately attentive staff. A wonderful evening at a very reasonable price. Top, top nosh!

Thatched roof, II-Grade listed, one of the most charming, and one of the oldest Pubs (XIV century) in Wales. Traditional, very medieval style ambience with few fireplaces. Great 🍻 and... Probably same level of food but unfortunately didn't have a time to try anything this time (revisit must be done!)

We had an amazing time at the Blue Anchor Inn. A real Gem! Awesome food & very professional, friendly staff who made us feel very welcome. We are members of Brit Stop and stayed in their carpark (which is opposite the pub) in our camper overnight. The pub itself is beautiful, quirky with nooks and cosy corners, some tiny doorways, and even a little tunnel to get through to the dining area. It has an outside seating area & the facilities were lovely and clean. Our meals were top class and the sticky toffee pudding was the best we have ever had. Thank you. We will be back when we next come to Wales.

Lovely, lovely old pub with friendly and efficient service. Nothing was too much for the staff and the food was delicious. They were also helpful in guiding us to a local walk, at the end of which we popped back for a cuppa and another meal

Absolutely brilliant place, staff are so lovely, the Inn is beautiful with thick stone walls like a castle. Food was excellent, we sat in the bar as we had our dog with us, and they do have a restaurant too. We will definitely be back. Thank you for accommodating us as short notice too.

Lovely, historic pub. Such a great find! Food was perfectly cooked and seasoned and made with quality ingredients. Lots of gluten free and vegetarian / vegan options on the menu as well as traditional pub fare (Welsh lamb, Cornish plaice). Nice service too with friendly team. We shared the tomato, chili mussels to start - highly recommend!

Has to be the best Sunday lunch I've ever had out, just like home made. Piping hot and everything cooked to perfection and very tasty. The staff were so friendly, helpful and pleasant. The building is outstanding well worth going there just to see it. The small rooms with their log fires are so welcoming. Booking is advisable.
