A continually very busy place, and very popular. Staff friendly and helpful. Loads of parking spaces, and a very large outdoor area for the little ones. A moderate selection of food from the menu, at moderate prices.
Recently went for lunch & it was delicious . A really varied menu & such good value. Great service. Looking forward to returning!
We had a one night stay, as we were visiting the area to visit the South Lakes Safari Zoo. We had a very comfortable stay, the bed was huge and very comfy, there were extra pillows available too, which came in handy. the bathroom was spacious and the shower was great. Not been for years I used to live 50m away and spent a great deal of time in there. Still a very nice pub, comfortable and clean. They had run out of the original Thwaites beer which was always kept perfect back in the 80s and 90s so was a little disappointed to have not tried it again.
Had food here as we were staying the night, there was a function on which is fine! However the waitresses were rushed off their feet as one of the staff members had called in sick - made worse by the fact what seemed to be the owner just sat on the sofa watching rugby whilst 2 members of staff rushe

My partner and I visited for an evening meal during our stay in Barrow from Durham. I had the lasagna and he had the gammon steak. We shared a cheesy garlic bread. The food was very tasty, big potions and very good value for money. Compliments to the chef for a great meal.
A great find food is excellent, well worth going back to.
