This chippy is the best, nice fresh fish, chips are nice so are the peas. Proper dark green mushy peas not the lime green ones that look like they come from sellafield lol. Good chips and battered sausage at the end of a long journey. Not too keen on the deep fried black pudding. Great idea, but a little dry. Can I suggest a more fatty product.

We were visiting friends in Barrow, having left the area more than 40 years ago when Matties was a regular haunt, and were really pleased that it was still there. So we shared a Fish & Chips and they were great (as previously). Brought back some great memories of our time in Barrow. Eating our food

You know when you fancy a chippy tea, and you imagine the exact taste of what you expect, you plan in your head what you're gonna get etc? This is that chippy. Perfect every time, tastes exactly how it should (some chippies are so inconsistent), always fresh, crisp, not greasy and generous portions.

Wow! The best chips I've had in a while, cooked properly, not soggy, fish was ok, two guys were serving, one was cheerful and chatty, the other was the complete opposite! Guess which one served me!
