We stayed here for 2 nights on a "buy a gift" voucher, it was a lovely setting overlooking Morecambe bay, although it is out of the way with nothing nearby, you will need your car to travel about.
That being said, we ate here on our 1st night, food is all homecooked, fresh and plenty of it, massive portions you certainly won't go hungry !! Very reasonable price for food and drink too, staff were lovely very accommodating. Room was of a decent size, with a lovely en suite bathroom with bath, the only gripe we had with our room was there was no blind or curtain in the bathroom so the adjoining room could actually see in but we solved that by putting a towel there, no biggie.
Breakfast was gorgeous, plenty of cereals and fruit etc to choose from with the option of a full cooked English breakfast after.
Overall we had a smashing couple of days here, but really only slept here as we went out most of the days arriving back late at night.
Rooms were spotless...Staff friendly...Food was faultless {best chips ever}..Downstairs area really inviting .All four of us had a cracking night away.Would definitely recommend.
Afternoon tea today was superb. The photo doesn’t really do it justice. We couldn’t have asked for more. The best we’ve ever had by far.
Had dinner there and the food was great and ole world charm was priceless. Fabulous atmosphere.
Lovely big room - spotless, with a sea view. Very friendly and helpful staff. Food is amazing ! Great location for the lakes

Just had Sunday lunch - absolutely delicious would highly recommend.
Great food, friendly staff, stunning views especially in the sunshine.
Had a xmas meal lastnight..absolutely delicious!!there was 7 of us and everyone felt the same. Staff were brilliant too! Our only xmas dinner this year together as a family so thankyou! We'll definately be back!
First time I'd been to The Clarkes in years. Boy was I glad I did.. the meal was absolutely gorgeous.. I got the small scampi and salt n pepper chips and my friend got the larger version..there was just the right amount for me but unfortunately my friend was defeated with the larger portion 😆..Salt and pepper chips were the best iv ever had! The scampi was delicious, cooked perfectly served with a generous portion of mushy peas. The service was excellent. The waitresses were both lovely and friendly. It was quite empty apart from a few locals at the bar on arrival but we did arrive early... it filled up very fast during the course of our meal. Booking would likely be advisable. 10/10 from me 😊
The management team put themselves out to accommodate a large group at short notice, for our family reunion. 5 star service and a delicious meal, highly recommended.
Sue, visiting from Australia
What a wonderful little hotel with an awesome view and location! Located on the coast near Piel and Roa Islands, with so much within easy walking distance. We had a lovely view over Morecambe Bay - could even see Blackpool Tower on the horizon lit up at night! The room was large, very clean and really comfortable. Also it had real character and charm - not a blandified grey blob of modernised cookie cutter decor!
The staff were so friendly and professional, a really homely welcome. We had dinner and a drink in the pub downstairs and they were so accommodating. We are vegan, and the waitress and chef offered various options, including a lovely pie which we plumped for. The pub was lovely too, with an incredible brick fireplace like I’ve never seen before! Hope to be back, highly recommend 👌🙌
Fantastic fresh food. Best salt and pepper chips in Cumbria
Needs a bit of work only been open 4 weeks under new management the food is very good friendly staff right on the coast will be going back soon
The chilli pasta with chicken was amazing
And the gammon was amazing. Will be back soon
I was there for lunch with a friend, it's many, many years since I stayed there & so can't comment on the facilities of the Clarkes as a hotel now. However, lunch was lovely, the service was excellent & all staff very obliging & attentive. Will definitely be back.
Lovely staff, amazing food, great views
Although the rooms needed updating they were kept very clean. The fan in bathroom needed sorting as it made such a racket when on.
Lovely sea view from room 4. Very good value for a couple of nights away. Food was excellent. Staff were very welcoming nothing too much trouble. I would stay again.
Had dinner at Clark’s tonight. Food was outstanding and the chef was very accommodating changing part of a dish for my partner due to a food allergy. Front of house staff were very friendly and created a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Highly recommended and will Definitely be back
Staying near Rampside we were advised to try The Clarkes Hotel and were not disappointed, we had Sunday lunch very tasty and generous portions ,also had lunch today was fabulous. The staff are very friendly and the service is excellent, they are dog friendy and were great with our scottie dog, thank you for the great food and service and recommend anyone in the area try.
Extremely good value for money. Gracious and friendly hostess who went out of her way to make me feel safe and happy staying at the Inn. Enjoyed my meal very much, sitting by a roaring log fire. Excellent waitress service and willingness to help me in any way possible. Bedroom clean and comfortable, yes a bit creaky, but wouldn't you be if you were built in 17th century!
This hotel is situated right at the seaside. Unfortunately, we had been told the restaurant has a technical fault in the kitchen, which they were unable to offer us dinner. We had to drive for 10 min to nearest town for dinner. The room is alright and clean.
Went for a Valentines meal on valentines night.
The staff were great super efficient and friendly service couldn't have been any quicker.
The starter was lovely the scallop in a shell my partner had the soup which looked great.
The main beef welling parcel was to die for only wish it was bigger ha.
Great value for the 3 courses.
Would definitely recommend.
I haven’t given 5stars simply because I can’t really comment on the food, but it does look good, and it seems quite popular, only been for a drink here, but nice outside seating area, there is a car park at the side, suitable if you are disabled, dog friendly, and really worth a visit.
We only stopped for lunch as we had planned to go across to Piel island but the boat was cancelled due to weather so cant comment on the rooms. The food was delicious, fresh and of high quality ingredients and very reasonably priced for what you get. Staff were friendly and was efficient with taking orders/service. We will definitely be back! Thank you 😊
Made welcome as soon as you arrive,Dave and Julia couldn't be more friendly and helpful, nothing seems too much trouble.rooms are clean spacious and marvellous views over the bay, food is excellent and staff are the best, free parking, stayed last week and had a fantastic holiday will be going back in September , also very close to the lakes really happy found this hotel
Good value and excellent views from the beer garden. Rooms are a little tired decoratively as is the rest of the hotel, but clean and comfortable and with all you'd require, a decent sized telly would be welcome! Parking space off road is a big plus.
