Wonderful brunch..
..and a delightful date-night dinner spot. Which ever you choose, you're bound to be impressed by the simple yet perfectly crafted menu and their superbly friendly staff. We've done both, upstairs in the glasshouse and in the downstairs atmospheric dining area and loved it both times.
Sure, it's not the cheapest place in town, but I consider their food (and the experience) worth every penny.
I will visit again, and I'll try to order something else than their poached eggs on smoked salmon, but it's likely that I'll fail.
That dish is simply sublime. 👌

My last visit to the Claytons was a few years ago and was mediocre. Last night I was more than impressed. The place was fully booked on a Wednesday night but the kind server managed to get us a table. The food was delicious, high quality ingredients the menu has a lot of choices and so different to any other restaurants in barnstaple. Great service, great looking bar. I highly recommend this place for a sophisticated night out.

Amazing atmosphere and top tier service. I had the pigeon starter which had mushrooms in, I'm slightly intolerant and never before has a dish been so worth the cramps after. Everything was absolutely gorgeous, clean, cosy and we were treated so well

My wife and myself visited Barnstaple for a short break and the hotel owner reccomended Claytons and The Glasshouse.
We weren't disappointed, the food, the service and the atmosphere were fantastic.
We can't reccomend this place enough!

Went here for an after-work social with some friends, and it was a super pleasant experience. The food and wine were so good, and the staff were friendly. I would recommend trying the glasshouse on the roof if it’s not too hot out. It’s a really pretty setting.

Had a fantastic afternoon catching up with the girls with some amazing food and drinks. The food was fantastic we were all very very pleased. Our server was called Martin and he was very patient as we all decided what we wanted to drink and even suggested what to try which was amazing. We are all very happy will definitely be back.

Came in for lunch this afternoon with my girlfriends we were seated up on the terrace which is beautiful food was outstanding beautifully presented I'm tasted divine our server Martin couldn't of done more for us and went out of his way to make our visit and memorable one I had the homemade fish cakes and as I was driving they had a wide choice of alcohol-free cocktail, gins and beers can't wait to come back and try some of his cocktails. Thanks for making our visit a special one

I celebrated my birthday in Claytons last night and it was fab!
There were 11 of us. We enjoyed lovely prosecco and nibbles, then food from the main menu.
I was treated to a delicious Marie Antoinette cocktail too �.
The place was busy and buzzing and the staff were courteous and helpful.
We'll be back and are happy to recommend Claytons �

We came for dinner a couple of weeks ago and I have to say it was one of the nicest meals both my husband and I have had locally.
It’s up there with some Michelin star places we have been to.

We called in on the off Chance we were seated upstairs in the Glass house which was lovely, we were made to feel very welcome, just me and my daughter. We were only after a light meal the menu with choices for £5 was just perfect and we had top waiter service from Ryan Young! and Jason!

Had a cracking time last night at #FizzyThursdays! Departed from the expected and tried the Chase Seville gin experience instead, absolutely delicious, though my fiancée loved the prosecco and strawberries. Lovely ambience there, very friendly and efficient staff as well. Highly recommend.
