I've not had a meal at the Whistle and Flute for years and ask myself why.....it was absolutely delicious and left just enough room for a dessert - double chocolate brownie -never tasted anything so good. All I can say is "See you soon!" Thank you xx
Just had a lovely Sunday dinner here, the beef just fell apart and there was plenty of it as well . I totally recommend the new chef. Xx

Lovely night out great food in evening and superb breakfast in morning staff were amazing and couldn't do enough for you great beer not overpriced and good choice
Will be back for £40 for the night for two of us bargain
Very good food . My only issue was the mixed grill was off the menu and ordered pate to be told they ran out . But food was lovely and the chips was awsome
A fantastic meal last night at the Whistle . Couldn’t fault it , the beef in black bean in particular a great dish . The afternoon tea cheesecake delicious! Thanks Julie and team
We popped in on Saturday evening without booking and could not have been made to feel more welcome. Despite being stacked out, we were quickly found a table. The service was great and the meals, as ever, were fantastic and great value. I would highly recommend you try the Whistle and Flute if you have never been before. We look forward to returning soon.
We went today for a Sunday Dinner was absolutely delicious , could nt fault a thing everything fresh , home cooked 2 of us had pork and 1 beef with mash, roasties, yorkshire pud, stuffing to die for plenty of vegs carrots, broccoli, green beans and cauliflower cheese 10/10 lovely pub & staff very welcoming will def be back for more :) .
Had a meal for my husbands birthday, there was 10 of us altogether the food was very well presented and very tasty, the staff were welcoming and pleasant, will definatly be visiting again
Having not been for over a year, a friend and I decided to go for lunch today. Both had omelette and chips and it was lovely. Although food wasn't bad before, it had definitely improved, as had the staff. Will definitely be returning
Brilliant Sunday dinner will definitely return to sample more of the menu generous portions beef was beautiful thank you x
To be clear we went to the pub for food - we did not stay in the rooms.
My partner got back late off of the train, we couldn't be bothered to cook so we popped our heads in to ask for a table. We're very glad we did. It is great. Lovely small local pub with a great "pub grub" menu. It's about as expensive you'd expect a non-chain pub to be in the current (Sept 2023) economy. The food was immaculate, the service was great too. Really cool find and highly recommend to anyone using Barnetby train station!!
A really lovely pub. The whistle and flute is clearly loved by both locals and visitors. Good food too; there is plenty of choice with belly filling portions without being expensive and a range of themed evenings available. I would recommend this pub to anyone visiting the area and with it being very close to the station day walkers could definitely use it as a rewarding end point.
Can't speak highly enough of this place! We ended up getting 2 last minute rooms whilst out hiking and the staff went above and beyond, the food was lovely (and filling) definitely have the breakfast if you're staying (it's absolutely worth it)
Stopped in for a bite to eat - warm bread rolls a bonus, the brie was excellent, the steak and ale pie nicely filling, and the flute and whistle burger was special 😉
Have visited a few times as it's a half way point for a friend and I to meet. Food is lovely, staff are friendly and accommodating, food is reasonably priced.
Only thing is, because it is a hotel too, there is limited parking but saying that we've not had a problem yet.
Party of 5 all had a fantastic meal and drinks, hospitality is second to none :) Will definitely be back :)
Stayed one night. Nice place. Excellent food.
This was the first time I have been for a meal in this pub. The decor is quite dated. The toilets were nice and clean. The lady behind the bar was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I had a small portion of steak and ale pie with chips and mushy peas. There was plenty to eat and it was lovely, home made chips and loads of steak in the pie. To follow I had banoffee cheesecake,it was also very nice. Food was a reasonable price. I will be going back.
Brilliant meal as usual compliments to the Chef Sammy lovely atmosphere friendly host and bar staff
Perfect pub for a stop off straight as you get off the train at Barnetby station. Friendly staff goid service.
Always good food, reasonably priced and quick, friendly waitress service. Parking can be limited when busy. One small niggle - Why oh why do 'regulars' insist on sitting at the lounge bar restricting access to other patrons ?
Friendly and clean, food offering good and well priced
Very friendly welcoming staff and customers. Good selection of beers and appetising menu. Bedroom quite cramped and delivery of beer casks at 6am outside the window made for early awakenings.
Great local pub. Went there as well qerw staying in the area and it was up the road. Soga able to go into the bar so that was good. Staff friendly, ordered some food wow what a lot of it!!
Well worth a visit. Will visit again soon hopefully.
I stayed here at the end of October, before a family holiday in East Yorkshire. The quality of service and food was so good that I booked a 4 night stay a month later. All the staff I've encountered are warm, friendly and welcoming. Being right next to the station, Humber Bridge and M180 simply add to the quality. A true traditional English pub and hotel.
The pub was busy with drinkers, but the atmosphere was good, and there were tables in a quieter area away from the bar for dining.
Staff were very friendly and helpful, and the food was excellent, with substantial portion sizes, even for the "lighter" main meals, which I understand are based on Slimming World recipes. The Coca Cola chicken was gorgeous.
We went for the sharing platter to start, which was lovely, but much bigger than we'd expected, so neither of us had room for dessert.
Prices are about the same, possibly a little cheaper than similar places in the area - around £10 for a main meal - but I'd say the quality of the food was much better. Highly recommended.
I want to start by saying some of the reviews for this place are very harsh. Yes it does need a bit of a spruce up, some of the furniture very worn but this is a family friendly local pub not a fancy restaurant.
The menu had a varied choice and we all found something we wanted for both starters and mains. The food itself was delicious and well presented, not one complaint from any of us.
Service itself needs some work, the waitress (yes the only one on a busy Saturday evening) was lovely but she was running around trying to cope with everyone and we heard a few comments about slow service although it was no fault of her own.
A few things that would probably prevent us coming for a special occasion again but would be perfect for a midweek family meal.
Food was delicious. We saw the mixed reviews but we didn't have a car so decided to chance a meal here. We got a gammon and one of the specials of lime chilli chicken and both were excellent. The chicken was flavourful and moist. We'll definitely come back
