Impromptu stop here for lunch today. Amazing friendly, chilled out welcome and food that tastes fantastic. Will stop for longer next time and enjoy some of the cakes.

Stumbled upon Nobia and sons whilst looking for somewhere different to eat in Barnard Castle. If it hadn't of been for the sign in the window, inviting you in to try the African sharing platter, I may have passed on by!
Popped me head in,to be greated with lovely smiles and inviting waves to come in.
Me and my partner were seated at a colourful clothed table for two, and given some menus to look through.
We chose the African platter for two, which you can buy for just one.
To wash my dinner down I chose a pineapple and beetroot juice, although this was lovely, I was expecting a purple coloured juice, like i make at home. But this was more pineapple. I found this was made using beetroot powder. Surprised, but still lovely.
The food arrived with a smile by Nobia, the chef, and was served hot. Chicken just fell off the bone, and melted in the mouth. The afi sauce was perfect. Plantain and walnut slices were divine. The rice and beans beautiful.
For afters we had grapefruit and poppy seed slice, which was beautifully made, nice and soft n crumbly, full of flavour.
This place is quite different from the norm in Barney, but with me growing up in Clapham, London, seeing a place like this is a brilliant change. The owner, family and staff are lovely, and from what I witnessed, have a great rapport with the locals, and all are known which has a nice community feel. Get yourself down, because once your there, you will come back.
The only thing I found I didn't like was the lighting, for the ambiance of the place I would personally use a warm glow bulb.
So if like me you are hypersensitive, to light, ask for a seat not so close. Hence the four stars
The friendly atmosphere, the bright decor and the food were all ten out of ten.
Ryan, Tyrone and Nobia are all super friendly and attentive!
We enjoyed a breakfast sandwich (with a superb sauce on the side). I was thrilled to see Tumeric Latte on the menu which was a very welcome treat. We will definitely be back for a meal - the curry looks amazing. Thank you.

Lovely coffee flat white and cake. Will have to return for the jerk chicken. Gluten free cake option was available and delicious icing.
What a beautiful, calm place. I’d choose to start my morning with a turmeric oat latte here every day if I could! Superb staff and atmosphere- thanks to them.
Excellent staff, made us feel welcome throughout our brief stay. I must recommend the hot ginger drink they make here- a revelation. Didn't call at lunch time but would definitely return for the goat curry next time. Well done, and thanks to all
Popped in for coffee and cake. Wow. A lovely friendly welcome from all the staff. The tea came a really cute teapot, the home made cakes were exceptional and the decaf coffee very good. Will return to try the goat curry. Highly recommended.
Nice coffee and brunch , honey for coffee a bonus!! which they bought outside and where not tight with the amount of honey . Then I cycled back to Durham🚲
I've been a few times in the past only for drinks always felt very welcome. But this time I had a delicious avacodo, salmon, tomato and egg on sourdough toast. It was really lovely everything about it I enjoyed. You can tell there's a flare that goes with making it. The staff are also always so welcoming and friendly. Will be back!
Had a lovely lunch here sitting in the sun watching the world go by. Was great to find a place catering for vegetarians with exciting menu options. Really good value food and very tasty. Will definitely be back
