Excellent cafe, food was super tasty and packed with local produce. Service was very fast and all surfaces were spotless. Overall light and bright with relaxing layout. We tried the Bowes Rarebit and the Ploughman's with a side of Fries. Then the homemade Carrot Cake with lashings of Tea. Loved how fresh it all looked and tasted. Will definitely return.

What a lovely cafe! Friendly staff and delicious food. We visited today for lunch for my husband's 40th, with our 5 year old son. We sat in a window table with a gorgeous view. I had a sandwich and soup, my husband had the Katsu curry and son had mash and beans, then for dessert I had the best ginger cake I've ever eaten. Portion sizes are generous and the staff is extremely welcoming and accommodating. Looking forward to returning soon.

First time here for lunch. I took two elderly friends and it was perfect. The food was excellent and the surroundings were lovely. Overall, the staff were very good, answering queries and helping me with disabled access. What made the experience though was Julie. She went out of her way to make sure we got the best out of the menu and made all three of us feel special. Job well done, Julie - thank you!

Visited twice in the course of touring the castle. Basic hot drink and something to eat. Very clean and hygienic premises, with good views in the distance.

What a beautiful place to visit....β€οΈπŸ‘€πŸ˜.... The history of the museum is amazing because it was one of the childhood homes to our very much loved The Queen Mother.... and secondly the Bowes Museum collection was so that the people of the UK πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ and Worldwide.... could see such beautiful objects that were around at that time especially with French influences.... There are so many artefacts that you would need hours to view them all... To go your own pace and just looking at the many displays takes a good couple of hours.... Remember to visit the well stocked cafΓ© of foods to fill many an empty tummy... πŸ˜‹... And don't forget to treat yourself to a small gift....nice selection of things to suit all... πŸ‘πŸ™‚

Food was lovely the ladies serving were prompt polite and helpful. Only grumble is slow to clear table when meal finished and to get dessert order but again we're quick to do so when asked. Highly recommend we had cheese sandwich with salad fries/ new potatoes onion chutney and salmon with cream cheese and salad sandwich followed by a slice of gorgeous Victoria sponge cake and 2 cups of tea and a soft drink.

Love the quality of the service from lovely ladies and the food was lovely. We were a group of 8 but the ladies handled it beautifully. Sunday roast was spot on and we will visit there whenever we are in Barnard castle.( price is also very reasonable for what you get.)

Lovely cafe within the Bowes Museum (you can visit the cafe without paying entry for the museum). Visited here twice during a short stay in the area, once for lunch and once for coffee. Good food, good service, nice surroundings, easy parking. Recommended.

Lovely cafe, very obliging as we had dog, so provided takeaway coffee and scone. Scone was best I'd had for a while. Offered a range of gluten free cakes. Staff very helpful and friendly. If you have space, it would be great to offer an outdoor seating area for dog owners so we could have more of menu as everything looked delicious.

A frequent visitor to this place, food is always good, staff are obliging. The museum is a must and gift shop has some lovely ideas for presents. If you haven't been before the building itself will blow you away before you even get inside.
