Can't rate this pub highly enough for its excellent food. The Sunday Carvery is by far the best for miles!!

The Royal Oak is a stunning place to be!! Gorgeous homemade food in the restaurant, speedy service and friendly waitresses. The bars are great for either a chilled glass by the fire or the other side, more lively, pool/darts etc. I've been on numerous occasions and loved it every time. Roll on the family parties already booked. Couldn't recommend this place more!!!!
28/12/17 - Absolutely fantastic , cannot recommend enough . Lovely home traditionally cooked fresh food & reasonably priced . Staff all friendly and welcoming . Clean & well presented . My disabled parents were looked after perfectly . The owner mark even came over to the table to assure everything was to our satisfaction ! Will definitely come again �
just celebrated our anniversary at the oak,The menu selection was excellent and the chef was very accommodating with our chosen meals and desserts which were cooked and prepared to perfection and in ample amounts, all the staff gave a first class service along with the high standards of the table settings and decor we will definitely be recommending and returning
Had a beautiful Carvery today, freshly cooked veg, the beef and turkey melted in your mouth. Proper home cooked food. Friendly staff, lovely relaxing atmosphere. Will be recommending to family and friends!
Had an amazing meal today for my dad’s birthday at the Royal Oak at Barlborough, the service was excellent, really friendly staff and truly amazing home cooked food, would definitely recommend it.
Saturday was the first time we visited but won’t be the last, food was really nice,pleasant atmosphere,friendly staff,would highly recommend for anyone looking for somewhere nice to go for a meal
We came as a party of 20 last Sunday to celebrate 70th birthday of my partner. The food was excellent and the staff looked after us extremely well. Enjoyed by all.

Went here tonight for food for the first time. I had Vegetable lasagne and my friend had 16oz rump. Both came with delicious chunky homemade chips. He had the peppercorn sauce and seasonal veg and I had a fresh salad and garlic bread. The service was excellent and food was quick to come out and really delicious. I would've loved a pudding(see the selection in the pics) but I was so stuffed!! Great value as well. Definitely going again.
Ate here for an 80th birthday celebration, not to busy, 6 of us to eat. Little while to take orders. 2 starters out of 6 and mains orders taken at the same time, prompt in arrival and eating for starters. 1hour later still no main courses on the table. Only 6 People in the resturant. When the food finally arrived 1hr 45mins after ordering it was delicious and hot. Cannot fault the food at all and the value was great!! Sadly just slow service.... Would eat here again but seemed better service in small groups. Chef did come and apologise about the wait though, so that was appreciated.
Been today for food on their first day back open after lockdown.
Food was served in an outdoor marquee as indoor dining isn't allowed yet but was hot and plentiful.
Servers were welcoming and took the time to explain the menu items.
Altogether a great little place to spend a couple of hours with good food and drinks.
Called in for a bite to eat as part of our walk in the area with friends last Saturday, no light bites on the menu and we were about to leave when the waitress said she would see what they could do. The chef provided us with a sandwich, chips and side salad, full marks to him, the waitress and the place in general.

Wednesday Curry Night ..... great value & gorgeous curries ...... packed full of tender chicken breast. Great atmosphere, & brilliant service. Thai Penang curry really authentic too, & full of flavour. Highly recommended!!
Helping to move furniture upstairs for friends and the chef was the partner of my missis friend .Wow the food is amazing I urge everyone go in and try the food 10/10.

We had to cancel a reservation at short notice for a family dinner due to bereavement. The staff went above and beyond and plated up the dinners for us to bring home later that same day. The food was amazing. The staff were all superb. Can't wait to get the chance to go back, and return the plates and try dessert. A massive thank you to all the staff.
