Went to Lunar for Sunday lunch. Advertised as 3 courses but was also served amazing fresh bread and honeyed butter beforehand so really 4 courses!
My favourite cocktail was not on the menu but they were happy to make it for me and enjoyed it sat in the secret botanical room which was lovely.
Will definitely return to enjoy the full taster menu
Went in the evening, and was served the tasting menu. Slightly more expensive than some Michelin starred tasting menus, but definitely worth it.
The food was absolutely exceptional. Every single dish was exciting, different, and beautifully presented. A refreshingly different palette of food in comparison to a number of Michelin starred restaurants which have been around for longer and feel stale in comparison. The tortellini is one of the best things I have ever eaten. To top it off, the portion sizes are the biggest of any tasting menu I've experienced.
Wonderful service from start to finish, everyone was just lovely, asked lots of questions - and really seemed to care about us having a lovely evening. Can't thank the team enough for such a brilliant meal.
The environment within the restaurant is gorgeous. Plenty of space, unfussy and elegant. The moon is a real statement piece, more impressive in real life than in the pictures.
Lunar more than deserves at least one - if not two - Michelin stars. I would recommend booking the tasting menu before it gets the stars it clearly deserves and you can't get a table!
Niall has this place absolutely spot on. The whole experience from the moment you walk through the door is everything you'd expect from a top chèf. 10/10. The whole team, food, experience is perfect
Came for a Saturday lunch for a birthday celebration, and certainly made the occasion very special. We arrived early so sat for cocktails, the menu was eclectic and exciting, and all the ones we had were worthy of 5 stars.
Each of our party had a starter and main, and the restaurant accommodated our gluten free member very well. The lamb sweetbreads worked perfectly with the caramel coating, though the yuzu on the vegetable tempura was slightly too sweet. The lobster and scallop dishes were good. For mains, the star of the show was the clay baked chicken, opened at the table. It was moist and the treasured rice and sauce was full of flavour. The turbot was cooked to perfection and indulgently rich, though the portion size was just right because of that.
The wines were great and the service was exceptional. Overall it felt a little overpriced, but definitely worth it for a special occasion. I really wish them the best of luck because there's nothing else like it in Stoke and the story behind the restaurant is great.
Wonderful experience!
We were a group of 4 who had the tasting menu with wine pairing. From our initial cocktails through to our post dinner drinks, you couldn’t fault a thing.
All of the wines picked by Alex were great & the service throughout the night was too.
The food presentation and flavours were exceptional - I’m sure a Michelin star won’t be far off.
Thank you team Lunar - we will definitely return.
The Lunar Experience Menu was absolutely amazing. The dishes were a work of art, the paired wine flight complemented every course perfectly. The atmosphere was open and inviting with a staff that ensured everything was done to a high standard. Could not ask for a better evening to spend our anniversary.
Lunar is exquisite!
We visited here for a special treat and it didn't disappoint.
Everything from the decor, the atmosphere, the story, the staff right down to the pinnacle of the food and drink.
Lovely to have a unique restaurant from the brilliant local lad and Michelin starred Niall Keating.
Dining underneath the giant moon is fun.
The service was impeccable to match the standard of the food and drink.
Obviously a bit of a price tag, but expected. Despite that, I thought the price wasn't too bad for the overall experience and culinary masterpiece we experienced.
A definite recommendation for any foodie!
Dinner Lunar Wedgwood
The Lunar Experience tasting menu
They have just switched from
A la carte to set tasting menu dining.
Therefore you don't get a printed menu to peruse and don't know what your eating til it arrives at the table.
This is fine for us because we can eat most foods and enjoy the suprise of what delightful dishes are presented.
All on Wedgwood crockery of course.
The menu started with snacks
Cod roe tart, Beef tartare, Sorbet
Chawanmushi - absolutely delicious
served with locally baked Sourdough and the prettiest butter with honey.
Scallop on sweetbreads and finished off with a Mussel veloute.
Linguine top with Australian black Truffle, cooked just right and we could of easily ate another bowl.
Line Caught Haddock with caviar and finished with a yeast burre blanc.
So soft and cooked to perfection.
Lamb was delightful and cut like butter that just melted in the mouth.
Can't remember the description as there is no menu to look back on.😋
There was a strawberry pre dessert and a
Ruhbarb dessert, both delightful.
All the dishes were beautifully presented and tasted absolutely divine.
Oh,and we had a couple of very nice cocktails too.
Well done to Head Chef Craig Lunn and his team in the kitchen.
Thank you to the lovely friendly front of house team for a delightful evening.
Nial Keatingcan be proud of you all and we're sure michelin guide will be along shortly with a star or two to go with your moon.
What an amazing dinning experience. From the moment you enter you know this is going to be a great place to dine.
The decor is beautiful and all local artist which I really like.
The food is amazing and I eat out alot. Definitely a 5 star review here.
The small plates have so many flavours. Some very cool and inspirational food.
Even the bread comes from Trentham bakehouse which is amazing to see local guys having an amazing places to showcase their talent.
The mains are amazing too. Again the the flavours are a great experience.
Also forgot to mention. The drinks. We had a few cocktails and again a great drink to make the evening extra special.
Definitely a great place to go with your friends and family and if you not been make sure you book. You will not be disappointed.
Loved it, beautiful flavours, all well balanced. Well recommended!
I can’t praise this restaurant enough. The food was out of this world, every dish was impeccable! I’ve been dreaming about it ever since. The service was outstanding and the staff was highly knowledgable about everything they are serving. The restaurant itself is incredible cool and I love the interior and the story behind it!
This was an extra special treat for us, and not something we're likely to do again due to finances.
We loved everything about our Lunar experience. The ambience was relaxed but attentive. The service made us feel like honoured guests and yet was very friendly. We understand that they were a staff member down, but we did not detect any defect in attention, all FOH staff had time to chat at our table.
We were excited to receive each course, that was presented professionally and knowledgeably. The attention to detail was evident. The textures and flavours were excellent, and at times simply devine. The whole 11/12 courses so carefully curated that it was not till my last spoonful of my amazing dessert that I began to think I'd eaten enough.
I would have liked a souvenir menu at the end of the meal so I can recall all the amazing flavours and combinations.
Oh and the cocktails, inc non-alcoholic ones were awesome too.
It was truly a lovely, special experience that I will remember. Thank you Lunar!
Once we had " escaped" from the dark and strange drinks area with furniture on blocks of wood, the food was wonderful.
I regret being " slow" in thinking we were dining in a Michelin starred restaurant. It is of course a restaurant where one of the Management team has held Michelin stars elsewhere. Note to self " read adverts carefully! "
Fantastic food and service. Interesting flavours and ideas, dishes are Michelin star quality but would have liked to seen something done with the bread to start and maybe a pallette cleanser between mains and dessert.
Wow what a meal!! The best restaurant for many miles. It was a short and well judged menu and we all 4 had something different and really enjoyed it. The flavour of the crab was fresh from the sea. Fantastic explosions of taste from the Samphire and drips of dressing. The Sea Bream was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Meaty and moist. And with it we chose the second least expensive white wine on the menu, a Marlborough sauvignon blanc. The intense fragrance of tropical fruit and citrus were mesmerising. The crockery and glassware are very beautiful. Staff were discrete and naturally friendly. It was an anniversary meal for my parents and formed a perfect happy memory for us all.
My wife and I went to Lunar last night and had the Lunar experience. If I had to some it up in one word it would be "Incredible" the food, the staff and the whole experience was first class . We'll definitely be going back for the Sunday lunch .
Fabulous food in a really eclectic decor. Love the history and the paintings.
