We planned our visit to have lunch and drinks in the garden on one of the summers loveliest days. Not too hot but needing shade and we found that in the garden here.
A large garden with numerous tables both grass and paved areas. All very clean and tidy and actually only one wasp all the time we were there!
The food was fabulous. Well it would be at the discounted prices from the evening menu!!
Fantastic chicken salad, really good burgers and my pick the fish and chips! The like of which I have not had for a long time. Bravo the Woodman chef. She or He did a great job
Wash down with real ales from Harvey's at Β£4.45 & Shere Drop at Β£4.50
We left much satisfied with the compliments to the staff at the Woodman. I believe it's Dave, who manages the pub and he does a very good job indeed.
There are lots of photos in the reviews, but one that took our fancy was the dog menu. Visiting woofers get treated well here if their owners are so obliged.
Ideal village pub. Traditional pub food (we had the pies which were amazing). Great selection of drinks with my favourite cider (Aspalls). Friendly staff. Dog friendly with mini dog food menus. Peaceful setting with front and rear beer garden. Definitely recommend and will certainly be coming back ππ»ππ»ππ»
This is our second visit, and again, we were not disappointed with our experience. The food is wonderful and the staff are friendly and attentive. We would recommend the bread and butter pudding fingers with vanilla custard, for someone like me, who is more of a savoury person and has never liked custardi n the past,, these have changed my whole perception. This is a very cosy pub, who welcomes children but also dogs, which is highly unusual. Definitely will not be our last visit. Jack behind the bar is also very helpful and friendly. All in all, it's a lovely little gem.
Visited yesterday 26/09/23 with a large group from a wonderful ladies social club.
It was the first day of the new menu and the food was absolutely delicious, very well presented and a good amount of choice. The prices were fair and actually very very good.
It's a lovely place to go to, the garden outside has ample seating too if you wanted to sit outside and it's very pretty. We sat inside which seating is good and comfortable and the two ladies that looked after our large group Kelly and Emma were absolutely amazing, dealing with all our requests and were super friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. We were a large group of ladies with different abilities/mobility some with sticks/crutches and also different food requirements vegan etc and everyone was catered for beautifully.
Will definitely go again,, already thinking of going to try their tempting weekend roast menu!
The food was ok. We had steak, which was a bit tough, so we had to go and get our cutlery, napkins, salt, and sauce. The atmosphere was beautiful and calming after every relaxing moment.
Yes, I would come back again, but next time, I would like to try their fish and chips. It did look rather delicious.
Fantastic pub. Food was plentiful and delicious. We had a Sunday Roast Lunch (2 with Turkey, 1 Mixed Meats, and 1 with Lamb). Price was below average for a Sunday roast (Β£14-16) in my experience.
They provide bottomless puddings, potatoes, and gravy. The portions were so big that we didn't need a top up.
The atmosphere was pleasant and the pub was fairly packed considering it's kind of out of the way.
Only slight negative was the waiting time, we waited approx 35 minutes for our food (which isn't too long) at all. But this was because they were understaffed on the day. Overall 5-stars easily - would recommend!
Thank you guys food was great service was even better our server is named Jack he kept on top of this and was really polite. My partner has a severe nut allergy and he was great accommodating for this. Really appreciate it and will definitely be coming back

Great place, nice looking interior and lovely exterior.
Great friendly staff. Have knocked it down a star because there was only 1 person behind the bar, meaning a long wait to order.
Food was delicious, though, and nice drinks, too.
Couple of things we did notice though was a lack of mobile signal made using the at table app difficult, and an outdoor no smoking area would be nice as well as its not nice eating around lots of smoke and dirty ashtrays.
We had a lovely Sunday roast at The Woodman. The service was top class and the food delicious. Thank you to everyone but especially Jack for your excellent service. We will definitely be back!
