Rare find, unique little cafe near banchory. Lovely decor mixture of industrial and country farmhouse.. ... quite noisy when full. Menu choices limited and most things have a fried element. We had posh fish finger sandwich and fries and rarebit. The fish sandwich was served in a box which was very stylish but made it hard to eat. Coffee was delicious and cookie was ok. Best thing about the place was the service.....staff all very friendly, efficient .

What an amazing place serving exceptionally delicious food. Great find and only discovered it due to A93 road closure and diversion. Highly recommend a visit. Great convenient stop for cyclists or walkers on the Deesideway path. Open Thursday to Sunday.

Lovely atmosphere and food all local, and it's nice to see they do thank and list all their suppliers on the menu. Bacon roll with warm sourdough bun is delicious

On our way back from Balmoral, we stopped for a short rest. And what can i say, very cute location, best burger with frensh fries i had in scottland, very friendly staff. Should have stopped here before, there is more royality in this place, than in the castle some miles away. Hold on like that Regards from Germany

Wow. Not been here since it was under new management by the Nichols. And what a wonderful, friendly, cafe it is with superb food coming out of the kitchen. My wife had the posh homemade fish finger butty and I had the pulled pork with dauphinoise potatoes and a perfectly poached egg on top. Proper home baked cheesecake and coffee followed before we waddled off! Definitely our new go to place. Highly recommended.

Really nice place to have lunch or to stop in for a coffee and cake. Kids play area on site, and a play park just across the road. Nice walks too, or just sit and watch the River Dee flow along. A lovely spot.

Top coffee and cakes with my wee girls. Staff are always friendly and happy. If I had to suggest an improvement it would only be to the kids play area but appreciate it's there regardless. Keep up the great work.

Sat outside for lunch and coffee on a beautiful sunny Sunday. A great setting and the food was superb. The young waitresses that served us were friendly and professional with quick service. Couldn’t fault the place and we shall be back for sure.

A wonderful place to visit in an idyllic location near the river Dee. We stayed in the area for a few days and went for walks around and a visit to Loch Muick, however the cafe would be well worth the trip from Aberdeen for the day or as an excuse to stay nearby. The cafe is by a green with swings for children and is dog friendly with ample parking. The staff at Potarch are very welcoming and the service was exemplary. The cafe is a Scottish haven with a cosy interior, lovely decor and beautiful plants. A wood burner in the corner must be ideal on colder days but we were lucky to visit when the weather was warm. The cafe serves local, fresh food and meat from the farm on the estate. The owners clearly care a lot about where they source their food and focus on ensuring top quality ingredients are used to make all of their meals. The food and drink are excellent value and the portions are a very good size. We tried the coffee which was served in beautiful teacups and was delicious. The homemade fish finger sandwich was wonderful and came with pickled cucumber and homemade tartare sauce. The rustic fries went excellent as a side and the bread the fish came in was homemade and very tasty. We also tried the cheese and black pudding toastie which we would highly recommend, the venison burger which was one of the best burgers we’ve ever had and shared the side salad. The salad was wonderful, with fresh leaves, feta and quinoa and came dressed in a lovely dressing. We would definitely go back and wish we lived closer as it would be a frequent place if we did. We look forward to our next trip to Potarch from the south of England.

Under new management since the very start of the pandemic, this is now an amazing cafe! The coffee and food is exceptional. Attentive friendly service, relaxed ambience and stylish decor. Highly recommended if you’re in vicinity, and if not, it’s worth making the trip especially!

Potarch Hotel, Cafe and Restaurant a great place to stop and enjoy the night, a nice meal, great customer service, beautiful sightseeings and the tranquility of the place. In summer time or fall, you, your family and friends can enjoy the place by parking your car at one of the parking places available on site, having a BBQ by using one of the ready BBQ grills provided on site, kicking a ball across the field without being nagged by anyone, sunbathing on a blanket, reading a book while sitting on one of the benches located around the field across the Potarch Hotel, Cafe and Restaurant, having a walk in the woods or a long stroll along the river that runs just at the back of the restaurant. There is a path across the road from the restaurant that takes you down to the river, canoeing is very popular here and the deepness of the river just for a few feet downstream of the bridge appeals to deep your feet in the water or even to have a short splash in the river (although the bottom of the water can be seen, I wouldn't recommend you to venture on your own unless more than two adults are on scene; you better cool down by pouring a bottle of cold water on your head as it's safer. ) The river is as clear as a glass and there is an invigorating freshness of the air combined with a nice aroma from the wild flowers.

Beautiful food, locally sourced and of impeccable quality. Menu is refreshed regularly, so there's always something new to try. Most (if not all) things are homemade and the bread is worth the trip alone. Can't recommend enough!
