Held a group meal here for 40 people in the upstairs room as well as visiting personally on many occasions. From start to finish the meal was excellent, high in quality and quickly prepared. Everyone loved their food and the atmosphere of the Auctioneer is friendly and relaxed. I highly recommend the burgers and the wings.
Charlie H was marvellous, always professional and so incredibly friendly. Such an asset to the auctioneer.

Always love coming in here, every time great service, great drinks and food. Tonight I was sat near a table that were being purposely difficult, and extremely rude, and blatantly trying to get something for free, the staff handled it professionally. As someone that also works in a pub I understand how difficult it is to be calm with customers that are so rude towards you about things that are either out of your control or a lie, so witnessing this tonight I just wanted to leave this here and give all the staff props for always being brilliant at their jobs.
Had a great steak meal here recently and it was superb. Great atmosphere and good staff who were attentive and efficient. Thanks.

Surprisingly good pizzas for a pub. Great dough, toppings full of flavour. Nice courtyard out the back with a fair bit of seating.
We recently had our wedding meal in the function room at this lovely old pub. The staff were efficient and helpful in answering our questions when we organised the menus. We have lots of special dietary requirements for which they provided well apart from dairy free dessert where only sorbet was available.
The service was very good, we didn't have to wait long for our food and there were 13 of us! The staff were again efficient, helpful and friendly on the day. The food was amazing!
The function room was spacious and warm with a wood burner type fire going which was lovely and cozy as it was a very cold day. We will definitely be back again as will many of our guests. 😁👍

The Old Auctioneer surprised from the outset, and continued to surprise me.
The space: Thought it was going to be small as it's a very old pub - it really wasn't. There's a large outdoor seating area that's pretty and lights up at night, and indoors there's plenty of room, with the insides decorated tastefully with bits from old forts, Spanish galleons, and wooden ammunition crates.
The food and drink: Good size menu, you're bound to find something you like. The food was very nice - everything is slightly nicer than you'd expect from a pub, and it's all like that. Did I mention they do chicken wings by the kilo?
The service: Pleasant - the staff are friendly and attentive, although in busy periods you can be waiting a while for drinks to arrive (big place, not so big bar space). Also seems well organised too, staff communicate with each other, which is nice.
Overall, this place clearly has a belief that runs through the whole business - add details and small improvements to every aspect of the pub, and it all adds up to a great experience. It's a top notch pub. 👌
Lovely food, had to try and attract attention of staff to order desserts and the bill, however staff were friendly and polite.

8 years ago my wife used to work the door here (and other places in Banbury) and she would bring me home a box of chicken wings from here.
We visited today and they are as good now as they ever were. I've always considered these the best wings I've ever had, Buffalo sauce is mega, blue cheese is mega and the wings have that perfect crunch.

Last minute choice and lucky to get a table! - We were meeting a friend in Banbury and this looked like a nice place with a good menu. It was sunny and very busy. I was lucky to ask at the main desk and be able to get a table outside as they were nearly all reserved. Service was excellent. Food was superb. I shared a pizza with my partner which was so delicious. My signature toblerone cheesecake melted in your mouth. One of my best cheesecakes and I love them! Sarah liked her sticky toffee pudding. We didn't have cocktails but saw many amazing ones around us. We would definitely eat here again!

It was recommended by a local colleague during a visit to Banbury and it did not disappoint.
The place is very non-descript from the outside but is massive on the inside but extremely cosy. Log wooden ceilings, stone floor and fire place, a perfect place to drink away a day and you could easily forget you are in the middle of a town.
Staff were super helpful and friendly and the food very nice and reasonably priced.
I'm thinking of a weekend trip back down to Banbury with the family, just to get another visit in at The Old Auctioneer.
I would reccomend booking ahead of time as it did see quite a lot of footfall even in the middle of the week but you could try your luck.
From the warm welcome at the door to the exit after our feast, the staff, food, service at The Old Auctioneer was great.
Food choice was really good, the chef and his team served up some great tasting dishes which went down a treat.
Definitely going back when we are in the area again.
After a long journey from Edinburgh we had a quick bite to eat here. Not visited for years but its still really nice - service was a bit slow to ask for drinks but they were still cheerful.

Excellent quality "elevated" fast food. Friendly, efficient service. Lots of nooks and crannies in the pub to explore. Piped music was unnecessary, however
I do love coming here the wings and pizzas are amazing and the fat santa burger is pretty decent too( tad pricy but I'd say worth it).
Only let down is they don't offer any sort off vegetables on the kids menus like carrot peas or broccoli. We did ask but you don't. We had a 10 month old and 5 year old who would of lnhailed some but mostly the 10 month old as there wasn't anything we could give her other than a few chips:) please think about that but still we will return.
Had the dough balls with garlic butter and the chicken schnitzel, bacon & cheddar burger, with truffle mayo as add on. Service was excellent, efficient, and very fast! Food was amazingly tasty! Recommended hands down!

This place is just packed with pure absolute everythingness.
You can eat a lot of different good dishes, they've got several discounted offers based on different days of the week so maybe check them out before going.
The steaks 🥩 are G R E A T.
You then can sit down and chill out on a sofa like it was your own place, have a quality beer, or a good CBD cocktail to sooth your nerves before going to bed (or both, so you are totally soothen).
The girls and guys tending the whole place are just awesome, young and brilliant. Great value and experience for the price, you'll want to tip them up.
