From the delicious prosecco in the conversation-starting vintage glass on arrival to the black coffee in a Labrador mug (we have a chocolate lab) after eating, we felt right at home having lunch at The Kitchen.
The décor is appealing and welcoming, the outside space was great for a pre lunch drink and the food....oh the food, it was so lovely!
The scallops & black pudding & smoked mackerel with pickled rhubarb starters went down a real treat and the roast beef was cooked to perfection, the veg selection was spot on and the Yorkshire pud was crispy and dense - a perfect companion to mop up the lashings of delicious gravy.
The burger & steak also ordered by our table were delicious and there were nothing but satisfied noises made from our party of 4!!
Emily & her team were warm, polite, friendly and attentive without being full on which happens in some places.
£127 for 2 starters, 4 mains, 2 proseccos, a beer, sparkling elderflower plus lots of cucumber water on the table. Maybe not the cheapest but well worth the price in my eyes for the all-round quality ! Bravo.
This place never fails to disappoint! As a meeting place half way between London and the Midlands our group really hit the jackpot when we stumbled across it!
The food has been spot on for each of our four visits so far; seasonal, local produce which has been cooked to perfection with a clear attention to detail. The chef's obviously have a passion for creating an innovative menu using fantastic food!
The welcome is always friendly, and the service without fault.
We'll definitely be returning- if only to sample the Chocolate Orange desert one more time!
We had a delicious celebratory lunch for a 70th birthday, with an age range of 5 - 70 - delicious food for all ages including some discriminating foodies and some vegetarians. Relaxed atmosphere but serious cooking, and the spinach gnocchi is to die for! This was a real find, and I only wished we lived nearer so could come regularly.
The food was out this world.
Prob THE best meal of my life. Not many places will you find that even grow their own veg & herbs. So fresh, so tasty & well worth the money.
Beautiful decorated inside & out, with a wonderful atmosphere.
Incredible. Can't fault a thing xx
Was taken to the The Kitchen for Mothers Day,what a beautiful menu, lovely staff and a wonderful touch was being given a little pot of flowers as we left, thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
Our family went to The Kitchen for Sunday Roast yesterday. The staff were extremely welcoming and accommodating to our dietary requirements and the food was superb. My husband said the Sunday Roast was the best he had ever had and I ordered The Chocolate Orange Sorbet for pudding which was simply out of this world. Well worth a visit!
Food is delicious, love the quirky decor, the staff were attentive without being annoying. The whole place just felt 'right'! Oh but please please do something with the unused door in the bar area, the knocking every time the kitchen door opened drove me a little insane..... until we wedged a bit or cardboard in it ourselves. I can't wait to come again to sample the non banging door during another gorgeous meal ;)
We booked for 16 and took 19 for Sunday Lunch. Pretty much five star from everyone. Nice building in a nice setting. Good staff and excellent food.
Fabulous food. Wonderful location. First class place & service. Original menu, delicious choices and all round brilliant discovery!
I would just like to thank The Kitchen for a wonderful (last minute) birthday lunch today - food amazing, helped to entertain a 17-month old and a surprise cheeky birthday discount. Very impressed (again!) Would highly recommend!
Great time. Very attentive staff and excellent food. Lovely pub and kid friendly

Fantastic food and lovely staff .
The outside area is just as beautiful as the inside
Well done team !!
I want to go back
Had lunch today with a friend... such a varied choice of menu it took us awhile to decide. Was excellent. Love the cucumber water.... very refreshing
Bank Holiday morning with 3 generations of family. A perfect destination - the dining room is bright and airy, relaxed but also feels a bit of a 'destination'. Plenty of space between tables and gorgeous views outside.
Excellent coffee, friendly staff, clean toilets and a really lovely brunch menu - everything from scrambled eggs to spiced lamb flatbread garnished with flowers and greens, to pancakes with berries.
There's also great space outside for the kids to run about.
Also a couple of tables had their dogs with them, so obvs dog friendly as well as family friendly!
The lunch menu serves from 12.15 so we're planning on coming back.
Definitely recommend. The Kitchen is going to be a regular treat for us from now :)
