We had a meal for 7 people a couple of nights ago. Most of us ordered the Turkey dinner with a couple of fussy eaters with strange requests, there was no issue and we got exactly what we asked for. A few of us asked if we could have Yorkshire puddings. The chef went out of their way to make us a fresh batch/mountain of Yorkshire puds for our table. The service was brilliant all thanks to our waitress Rachel. All meals were amazing, Highly recommend.
We had a meal for 6 yesterday evening. We all enjoyed our meal and the food was amazing. The service was excellent and the staff were very friendly. We were made very welcome. Thank you, we really enjoyed our evening and will be back. Would highly recommend.
Had an amazing night last night celebrating my mom's birthday..... there was over 30 of us and the staff here couldn't do enough for us!! Between setting the place up (looked amazing!) Being so accommodating as we had a few people with specific dietary requirements, amazingly friendly and helpful staff and fabulous food..... you guys really helped to make my mom's birthday super special!! Thank you for everything guys..... you're awesome!!
Just had an afternoon out with family , for a planned lunch , staff were so helpful , friendly warm atmosphere , and I meet lots of people I haven't seen for some time , a perfect afternoon . The food was all fresh , freshly cooked , steak sandwich was to die for ! The chicken salad was fresh but lacked imagination . �
Yesterday was my 60th birthday, and I left it my son's hands to organise whatever. To my great delight he, and my wife, booked the Downshire, sent out menus, pre-ordered for around 22 people and made all the arrangements. We had the end of the restaurant to ourselves, which was perfect. The serving staff were wonderful and everyone got their meals in good time. The food was marvellous, tasty and ample.I would certainly recommend the Downshire for family gatherings etc. A truly 5-star4 experience. Thank you, Downshire!
Got a voucher for Christmas and decided last night was the night! We were very impressed and stuffed to the gills when we left, the food was cooked to perfection, there was no rush and the staff while attentive weren't in our faces. Will definitely be back again soon and wholeheartedly recommend ��

My fiancé and I recently stayed at the Downshire, where he proposed - all the staff were wonderful, so friendly and genuinely happy for us! They were so helpful, ensuring the process was as smooth as possible for my nervous fiancé. Complementary prosecco and a wonderful bouquet of flowers and chocolates were also left in our room while we were at dinner. Cannot praise the staff enough!
Had a lovely meal yesterday in the restaurant to celebrate a birthday, food was lovely and the staff were very polite and friendly. Will defs be back, keep up the good work :)
Was here for the first time tonight for my Dads birthday & the food was first class! Wet impressed & the waiting staff were very attentive. Only downside i would say is that I dont think you should have to pay £2.50 for a jug of water! Definitely be back tho
I have been eating/drinking in this place for near 30 years and never been dissapointed, always a perfect meal or a gud nites craic.
Went for a meal 23rd December...busy but we got a table within 15 minutes...the service was fast and the food was fab! Esp the desserts...so reasonably priced too...top class thank you
