A real gem of a place. The staff are always friendly and the food is superb (especially the sausage barms and cream teas in the cafe bit).
Great ambiance and character, and all the better for being a community-run project.
I was very happy to see the pub win the recent competition for solar panels, and the newly-remodeled beer garden at the back is a lovely addition.
Definitely one of our favourite places in the Peak District; so much so that we often ensure that our cross-country walks are deliberately planned to end up here for a much-needed drink and a warm welcome.
We had a fantastic supper in the Anglers Rest Bamford, highly recommend the vegetarian wellington and Richards pie.
Just had a lovely sandwich in preparation for our drive home - it’s sandwich week so go and try the some their specialities.
Quaint, friendly. Lovely lunch menu with a bonus view. Surprisingly fly spacious inside, and a great beer menu.
Fantastic, welcoming, lovely place! Great food, friendly staff and lovely traditional pub vibe!
Went yesterday a rather large crowd on a hen do had the most amazing roast dinner must try you won't be disappointed compliments to the chef 5 star
What a fabulous community effort, just loved it Coffee shop excellent Dining room /pub fab with delicious fresh food AND dog friendly X x
Just had lunch at the Anglers, lovely friendly atmosphere. I had some great homemade soup, the other half had a bacon sandwich, good quality and value for money. Some lovely arts and crafts for sale and a good selection of cards. The Anglers is a pub, cafe and post office too, a great community space.
Pub, café, massive car park. Great food and great beer and a fantastic location for walking...
We both had the pie last night and it was very good we would recommend it and will be back for another.
The anglers rest is the perfect place to visit for coffee, lunch or shop, it's in a beautiful location.
The food was very tasty and the staff were very pleasant. Nice find.
Not a big menu, but they have some basic pub grub choices and a few slightly more interesting starters like hallumi in honey. The traditional beef roast was just one slice, but it was very thick and tasty so actually a nice change from the usual thin slices. The Yorkshire pudding was a jumbo one with not enough gravy, so very dry.
Thick cut chips are done very well, seem to be triple cooked and very crispy
Would be idea if they served it with gravy plus an additional gravy boat to pour on yourself
We were looking for a place to eat near Bamford's Edge and the other places we tried had a very long wait for the food (close to an hour). Thus, we were looking for a place where that wouldn't be the case.
Thankfully, we stumbled upon the Anglers Rest. This is a comfy and welcoming place with great food!
It's the kind of food that makes you feel good (and I'm not saying this just because we were hungry).
Highly recommended. We had Beef and Chicken Roast, Fish and Chips & the Chicken Burger (which was awesome).
Driven past many times on the journey twixt Manchester and Sheffield but usually when the pub is shut. Popped in for a quick half with Madge. Three real ales. I had the Peak Ales Chatsworth Gold. An excellent beer. They also had a Peak Ales Stout and an Abbeydale Moonshine Pale Ale. Madge had a Porretti, a rare Pub lager find. The pub is a community hub and has a Post Office. Half the interior acts as a café as well. Some nice indoor spaces in the surprisingly large establishment. Would have liked to stay longer. Also did not know there is a large car park to the side and rear away from the main road. Free for pub users, otherwise pay. There are picnic tables outside to the side of the car park for al fresco drinks plus a tent covered patio if it rains.
Was hiking in the area, never intended to drop by BUT wow 🤩 what an mistake that would of been!! Definitely found an hidden gem in the valley, the Sunday roast was absolutely amazing, it was prepared slightly differently than your normal standard roast but no complaints, definitely worth a visit if u in the area, highly recommended 👍🏻
It was a surprise to find that they serve gluten free fish and chips and it was really nice. They also serve alcohol late. There are lots of seating and also nice to combine with a cafe.
What a charming little place in beautiful scenery. Pub and café in one .
We stopped on the way to Lady Bowers Reservoir. Had a lovely coffee and freshly made, delicious breakfast. We have stopped in few pubs on the way just to be told breakfast is served only till 9:30, when in The Anglers Rest they start serving from 10am!! I've had bacon and egg sandwich and hubby had full English, everything was spot on, fresh products, generous portions. Superb!! Shame we've been driving otherwise would stop for a nice pint later on as pub looked as cosy and welcoming as café.
It was pretty busy with hikers popping in and out for snacks or coffee but staff was very nice and polite and worked around the clock to get everyone served quickly. Lovely little place, will definitely come back when next time in the area. Thank you
Ria is such a nice girl, the place wouldn't be the same without her. Me and my friend were there from about 9 until 10:30 (4th November) and we had such a good time. Its a comforting, friendly place that I can just be myself without worrying about what others think. Love it there, 10/10 definitely would recommend
Nice cosy place, very helpful and friendly staff, smiling and welcoming :)
Been there for a drink and some pizza, pizza wasn’t great but starters were nice. They have board games and cards to play, are dog friendly. We enjoyed our time there :) thanks !
Such a lovely little place for a pub lunch, we sat outside and ate before heading up Bamford ridge. The staff were really welcoming and attentive. I had the fish and chips which looked and tasted great, the batter was really light and flavourful. Would definitely recommend.
Great pub friendly staff, excellent food and a good selection of real ales, good outdoor seating with lovely views over the hills, will definitely return on our next camping trip.
Lovely pub/cafe! We stopped after a walk around Bamford Edge. Dog friendly, great food and friendly and helpful staff. There's also a cafe attached, I believe the whole enterprise is a local community business, and all credit to them. Great spot to recharge.
Stopped off at The Anglers Rest following a Sunday walk in the area. The service was very accommodating and staff were extremely polite and friendly. My partner fancied fish and chips and she said the fish tasted lovely, whereas I had a beef Sunday lunch, it was amazing! Plenty of veg with beef to die for! We'll definitely be returning. Thanks to all all at The Anglers Rest for making a lovely day even better!
Hands down the best fish and chips I have ever had. Great atmosphere and service is fantastic! I have been a few times now and will definitely be back again!
Lovley quiet country pub with pool table. Food was good very filling
Really great food and outstanding service. We were a big group but the communication was excellent and the food came promptly with all dietary preferences catered for. Highly recommended!
This place was saved from closure by the residents of Bamford and is now a cafe, Post Office and pub. Cosy, interesting and all round great place to stop after a walk in the Peak. Food and coffee ☕ were excellent. Highly recommend a visit if you are in the area.
We had a large group booking on Sunday and were spoilt by the staff who were absolutely lovely - topped only by the quality of the food! We had a great time and will be back next year for sure!
Lovely lunch here with a beetroot farafel wrap accompanied by a fresh salad and chips. I returned later to sample the excellent stout in the evening. Sunday we dined here and I had the lamb's liver, bacon accompanied by bubble & squeak. I enjoyed both meals immensely especially the lamb's liver which was cooked to perfection. Thoroughly recommended, will return next year
Our friends had the steak here and also enjoyed it
