After a long walk from Edinburgh to Balerno via Union Canal and Water of Leith - this friendly wee cafe was a welcome stop!! Nice coffee and really tasty cheese scones - served by smiley volunteers and at a reasonable price. Cake selection looked fab - hope to visit again soon to try them out!

What a busy place! 50-100 people they serve, usually, and yet the atmosphere is anything but frenetic thanks to the super volunteers. Delicious soup and there are sandwiches and salads etc. Nothing fancy. Just what you want for a simple lunch. It's fair trade too. What an inspiration to other places this community cafe is.

Lovely wee cafe! My friend + I popped after a walk round the reservoir. Friendly service, food was tasty and reasonably priced. Excellent flat white and delicious carrot cake as well! We will definitely back!

This is where you have a local, relaxed atmosphere. Where everyone knows each other and strangers become friends. Very reasonable priced limited fair but quickly serviced by local volunteers and with a smile. Don't expect an a la carte restaurant, as this certainly isn't. It's a large church owned hall, with a kitchen on site. Where local baking, is matched only by the local get togethers. If you're new to the area and wanting to know more about it, I'd recommend a visit

Another of Balerno's secret delights! This community cafe is a jewel. As well as the usual hot and cold drinks, there is a wide range of delicious cakes, pastries and scones. Various soups are available and lunch dishes. The venue is large and obviously very popular with local people. Well worth a visit. You will not be disappointed!

The food here is prepared and served by I presume volunteers, it's attached to the church and I assume profits go to the church. The place is not open every day. I think it's a Thursday that it's shut. Very good service and food. No hesitation in recommending it. More cafe than restaurant, but hot food, soups etc. are served.
