Visited this cafe last week during our walk along the Monseal Trail. We did not know about it but was pleasantly surprised when we came across it. They have a good selection of gluten free cakes, other than chocolate brownie š. The portions are very generous too. You can sit in a covered area with your fur babies or there is seating inside. We will definitely be going back soonš
Great lunch stop whilst cycling along the Monsal trail old railway line. It's a good sized cafe in an old railway station with seating inside and out, mostly under cover, plus a big car park and cycle hire next door. Direct foot and bike access from the trail. Good menu plus a pizza hut and bar. Great prices.
It is a fabulous place, which I highly recommend for refreshments if you're doing the Monsal Trail. Whether it's just coffee and cake (delicious) or a hot lunch, the many choices on offer are amazing. Friendly, efficient staff, and obviously dog friendly, too, as there is lots of seating indoor and out. There's also a beautiful craft/gift shop on site.
We popped in here on our way back from the old railway walk, the rain was heavy and we needed a quick place to hide!
We only had a herbal tea but the service was brilliant, the lady behind the counter was friendly and helpful and the service was quick. The prices seemed okay, a little on the high side but nothing outrageous. The place is huge with many tables both inside and outside under a cover, the place was clean too. The vibe felt quite cold and empty though with not a lot of atmosphere or character.
We also popped in the shop where they had some beautiful autumnal displays with a variety of both handmade and shop bought goodies. The prices were very reasonable and staff members friendly.
The toilets outside were in good condition and reasonably clean (seeing as it had been very muddy out)
Nice variety of lunch options and very tasty. Coffee also very nice on a cold day. Staff also very friendly.
Cycle hire very easy and staff very helpful. Cycling very fun with our toddler.
Great day out!
Lovely cafƩ and shop on the peak cycle trail. We hired bikes for 2 hours and managed half of the trail which was really easy with some beautiful views. You can hire the bikes for 4 hours to do the whole trail. Suitable for walkers as well. Great fun even if you haven't been on a bike for years. They also hire out e-bikes!
3rd visit here over the course of 2 years. Foods great and coffee is good too! Got absolutely loads of salmon yesterday and for Ā£8.50 it was a bargin. Couldn't have even made it cheaper. Nice little play park for the kids and good spot to ride the bikes too. Highly recommended :)
Haven't been here for nearly 10 years. Its changed quite a bit but for the good. The Cafe is excellent and reasonably priced, and from what we saw good portions and lots of choice, we only had drinks. Great starting place for the Monsel trail, and although we didnt hire a bike, it looked as though you had plenty to choose from including a trike.
Parking is a bit naughty, you pull into the car park pay for you stay, then walk past a sign that says free parking after this sign for cafe users, or words to that effect,
But lovely old station that's found a new lease of life and is successful.
This is an excellent place to park and walk or cycle to Bakewell along a section of the Monsal trail. It is relatively flat and plenty wide enough for people dogs and bikes. The cafe itself is extremely popular and a good stopping off point . They do a good coffee and there are bowls of water for dogs. There is seating inside and also a large covered area with seating, for those who prefer to remain outside. Didn't eat but plenty of people were; and the food looked good.
Cycle Hire: easy to find, large (Paid) car park, we stayed at the B&B so parking was free for us. helpful staff processed the hire quickly and effectively. only issue was felt rushed with clock watching and pressure to return bike in allocated time.
The trail itself is stunning! well maintained and good length with plenty of room for walkers and cyclists.
(with the tunnels was surprised the hire bikes didn't come with lights)
Cafe: large menu with reasonable prices, good selection of cakes and treats, nice sized cafe with plenty of seating. came twice in one day for breakfast and then for a cake. cleanliness was unsatisfactory and felt staff were there just to pay the bills.
On a staff good day this place would be a great place to visit if you are in the area.
Guys in the cycle shop were so helpful and the trail itself is superb. Family friendly with wonderful views along the way. Top pizza at the cafe too!
I called in before hiring a push bike for The Monsal Trail. The cafƩ exceeded my already high expectations. Friendly and welcoming. A top quality breakfast. There is absolutely nothing to fault. I will call again just for the breakfast before my holiday ends.
We stopped here for brunch. Loads of car parking space. Extensive menu in the cafe, I had a very tasty brie and cranberry toastie. Great gift shop and all dog friendly, thanks
Busy cafƩ with satellite pizza, snack hut and bike hire operations on site. Right on Monsal Trail so convenient for walkers and cyclists. It cashes in on its prime location, so it's a bit pricey. But then convenience is great if you just want to cycle the trail.
We are six young at heart ladies who hired bikes & completed the trial there & back. We went for normal bikes which was easier than we thought, as I myself havenāt cycled in years. Brilliant bikes and a very professional service.
Then a superb lunch at the cafe, all freshly made with good quality ingredients. The happiest service Iāve seen in year, what a cracking spot. Thank.
This place has great food, reasonable priced, great service (it's a very well oiled and efficient operation so don't be put off if there's a queue at the counter, it shouldn't take long to be served, our food came to us relatively quickly despite it being a busy day) and equally great and well maintained facilities. Word of advice though, get there early on nice weekend days or school holidays if you want a parking space. There is a cycle hire place next door with fairly decent looking kit but we took our own. It was a busy sunny Sunday when we last went so there were a lot of people on the trail as you might expect. The rule is keep left to minimise accidents whether on foot or wheel. Be aware though that some people, despite it being a busy family day out destination, feel the need to do some serious cycling on the trail. We wondered why they chose to do their serious cycling there and then considering the circumstances. So be vigilant for small children and pets, they could get run over!
Had a lovely pulled pork bap with tons of meat! (It was the daily special). Yum. Thereās a bike hire place alongside though we didnāt use it and went for a walk along the Monsal trail instead. We didnāt stay in the rooms so Iāve not rated those.
