Had a 2 night stay in room 2, welcomed by Elaine who showed us to our room, the food was delicious full english breakfast and evening meal, Elaine is very tentative to customers with food & drinks table service and check backs, the pub has a very olde fashioned comfortable feel and it was a pleasure meeting some of the locals and visitors along with their 4 legged friends. Really enjoyed our stay

Food was good, really recommend the steak and ale pie. Location is fine , 15 minutes walk from aysgarth falls. Place could do with a refurb and more staff.

We were in the area for a family gathering and stayed here for 2 nights. We had a lovely time. The property is really old and is very quirky. I loved the rolltop bath, 4poster bed and gorgeous views from our bedroom. Dogs are not allowed in the dining room which seems very old fashioned and there is also no WiFi but apart from that lovely stay and weekend. Thanks for having us.

Very accommodating for both gluten free and dogs which met all our needs. Friendly atmosphere, delicious food. Will return when next in the area.

Stayed here for one night whilst walking the Herriot Way and had a nice relaxing stay. Room very comfortable with a decent ensuite shower, and good food and atmosphere in the evening. I went to bed before the pub closed but wasn't disturbed by noise at all. Breakfast service was a bit slow which may bother some, but I was in no rush.

We came here for new year with a group of friends and had an absolutely brilliant time. The food was excellent in every way possible. The range of beer was also very good and also will likely. The staff were very friendly and great fun. We stopped a couple of nights in our vans and plan to return this year as we all loved the place. We also had dogs with us and again the staff were fabulous with them. This is a genuinely lovely traditional pub.

I came here for dinner so not staying over (though I will next time I'm here) but wanted to rave about the place. It's so humble and not trying to be anything. Just honest and good food and service and wonderful staff who want to take interest in you and talk to you and welcome you. As for the food...the steak was one of the best I've had for a very, very long time. If I'm honest I was surprised because the place doesn't claim to be fine dining or anything. The menu is quite limited. But the quality of the food exceeded all my expectations. I come to this area a lot and this place might just be my new hangout. Wonderful people. Let's keep locally run places like this in business.

Returned from another fantastic couple of nights here. The food was as fresh and delicious as always, the room was spotless and more than comfortable and the staff we think of now as friends as we return each year. We are made to feel at home and we have such admiration for Colette, Elaine and Ashley, a small family doing their very best at running this wonderful, quirky establishment. You won't find another place like it, such character and charm for those who appreciate it. Thank you all once again, we will see you soon!

Had a meal here last night with my family, the pub was very warm and welcoming, with great staff. The food was incredible and although they'd run out of the Veggie burger that the wife wanted they made her something that wasn't on the menu, brilliant customer service. Proper pint of hand pull beer too that was utter perfection. If in the Yorkshire Dale's I would hugely recommend anyone visit this pub

A lovely pub in the village of Aysgarth Yorkshire. The staff are very friendly and the beer is well kept. As I didn't stay here I don't know what the rooms are like but the location is good. They serve food which was nice, typical pub grub. Recommend if you're in Aysgarth.

Visited on a busy Friday night, new staff member had a baptism of fire but we weren't in a rush, and there's a cosy bar to sit with drinks. Non meat options weren't the best, but when I asked if there were any specials they offered me seabass which wasn't on the menu. The seabass was incredible, just glad I asked what else they could do! Overall food was excellent, large home cooked portions and really tasty, and staff willing to ask the kitchen for further options

5* as the foid and service is excellent. Our large party have had our Christmas village party here for a few years. Ive also been in with a small party or just 2 of us. Fish and chips available to take out too. Have a nice pint whilst waiting. Drinks very reasonably priced too. Car parking available and some outside seating. Very homely. Love it

Exactly what you would expect from a cozy local pub. My wife and I were staying locally and our host booked a table here for our evening meal. The friendly staff welcomed us in and we were quickly seated with drinks. Our food came quickly and was delicious. Exactly what you expect from a pub. Good prices for good pub food.
