Enjoyed another fabulous meal here yesterday on New Years Day. Fantastic menu choices (I could’ve had most of the starters and mains on offer!). Service was perfect. Even managed to get a wee doggy bag to take home and enjoyed some smashing chicken liver pâté later in the evening. Highly recommend The Chestnuts. We’re never disappointed with the food. Lovely cosy and friendly atmosphere too. Can’t wait for our next visit! 10/10 💫.
We recently visited Ayr for a short break and visited The Chestnuts for lunch with 4 children in tow and we were extremely happy with our experience. The hotel have a seperate (and varied) vegan menu which is always a huge bonus to have more than one item to pick from!! The children's menu was also very good, ours lot sampled veg fajitas and mac&cheese...both options wolfed down! I would have liked to try a soup & sandwich deal with it being lunch but unfortunetly no vegan options for that deal although my choice off the vegan menu of vegetable tempura was superb! Hubby enjoyed his soup & sarnie tho � The staff were very accommodating, nothing seemed like too much trouble and the prices were good. Overall we will definitely return on our next trip to Ayr and wish we had found The Chestnuts sooner!
Lovely place. The staff are top dollar and willing. This is my second business trip and my little lady has joined me for my final night. It was no problem for staff to upgrade my room to a double. We ate in the restaurant and the food was really nice from an extensive menu. We are planning a private trip back to double up with a Waverley cruise in the near future.
We had a meal last night for my mums 80th Birthday and the food was amazing, the service was spot on and it was a lovely night all round....I'm never disappointed in the Chestnuts Hotel...definately recommend �

I'm from Belfast but my Daughter lives not to far from the Chessnuts Hotel with her Family, we all had dinner there on Saturday night four Adults and two children we had a beautiful meal and kids menu was excellent as well prices were very reasonable. We stayed there 15 years ago when our Daughter got married Grt Hotel would strongly recommend it definitely be back.
Friendly people and lovely service. Great room and wonderful Scottish breakfast. Definitely come back and recommend to my friends.

Great place. Opened bar at 0815 to watch Lions match and the guys did a fantastic job keeping everyone watered and fed. Very professional and friendly.
We stayed at the chestnuts last week Grant and the team are so lovely they Carnot do enough for you the rooms are lovely very homely the food is excellent we put a bit of weight on � the puddings are to die for we always say it's home we never want to leave thank you all for a lovely stay we will be back soon I hope
My husband and I booked the chestnuts private dining room for our wedding dinner. We were in correspondence with Susie a few weeks prior to confirm details and she was absolutely fantastic and put us so at ease while also offering some great insights/ideas we hadn't even thought of! The food was delightful and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. I am vegetarian and there were plenty of options to choose from, the goats cheese salad was a real treat! We dropped in decorations the night before and Susie and the team kindly set the room up for us perfectly for our arrival. The staff were polite and attentive while also giving us space to enjoy our evening of celebrations. We cannot recommend the Chestnuts enough for a special occasion, you made our wedding day so wonderful - thank you!
Never disappoints! It's kind of like my local! Most celebrations are here. This time was my daughter's birthday 🎂 Grant and his staff are always very friendly and helpful. No being rushed. Food is always delicious. Warm and very inviting. Superb time

Had food in the bar which had a lovely open fire and despite being full wasn't really noisy, just a nice relaxing atmosphere
I had pate to start which was beautiful
My sons had fish and chips and burger, hadn't realised the burger was home made to be fair which didn't go down well for a fussy 7 year old but he had enough
I couldn't manage a desert but they had some and my son has been saving about his meal since

Staff all lovely and quick service despite being busy
Visited for a birthday celebration with 16 people. Staff were all very friendly and attentive. We had a lovely lunch, food was excellent, wide range of options to suit everyone. Although we were a large party and it was quite busy the food still came out quickly. Would highly recommend.
Good gf and vegan options, although not ppm guaranteed if you need that. Lovely food though, and non specialist diets have the option of a reasonably sized half portion during the day which may suit some people better. The melon starter was particularly popular with my party, very tasty and fresh. There seemed to be an event in the dining room, which was abstracting some.staff, but the service was still good.
Beautiful restaurant for the family to go too. Big beer garden for making the most of a Scottish sunny day for drinks or a superb meal. Large bar & restaurant seating inside too.
Been coming here since I was a little boy. There is a lot of history regarding this bar/ restaurant and hotel.
Highly recommended.
We went for dinner on Saturday night, the food was fabulous. Noticed an outdoor bbq which we will try next time. The staff were amazing couldn't do enough. Had a great time thank you.

Stopped in for lunch today starter was superb Haggis broth. Nicer than it sounds had the crabcakes as my main only fault was the lime over powered the taste of the crab and chilli. Cheesecake was amazing. The girls were brilliant and had a good banter with the staff. Would recommend for a impromptu lunch or dinner. Reasonably priced aswell.
